I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Leave a comment below telling me one of your favourite vegan foods and I’ll pick One Lucky Duck on Tuesday! Goodluck. :)
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
Pick Me! Pick Me! My fav vegan food (or fav food period, vegan or not): KALE. Love that stuff. (although that gluten-free pumpkin pie was pretty good too…)
My favourites are kale chips, your Butternut Mac and Cheeze, and a raspberry “cheesecake” that I make. YUM!
I would have to say my favorite Vegan food is almond butter! I could swim in that stuff! ;)
Chana Masala — I love Indian food!
I love raw fruit. I could eat it all day every day. But then there’s the raw kale salad I make – it’s divine. I could also eat this every day, maybe not all day, but once a day, or even twice! And then I’d like to finish every day with a huge slice of vegan chocolate peanut butter cake from Blind Faith Cafe. I’m hungry now and I’m not even supposed to be thinking about food since I’m on day four of the master cleanse mixed with a juice fast… Yikes!!!!!
My favorite vegan food would have to be oats with peanut butter :) So delicious!
What a generous giveaway! I miss lucky duck so much.
I am new to veganism/vegetarianism but working towards a healthier lifestyle (although I have always eaten a mostly plant based diet). My favorite vegan food right now is oatmeal with flax meal, desiccated coconut, and a splash of almond extract, topped with big chunks of banana and pineapple. Yum! Second favorite vegan food is the greeeeeen monster! I love mine with almond milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon mixed in. The cinnamon covers up any leftover bitterness from the spinach. I am loving the renewed energy I have gained since I have refined my diet! Thanks Angela :)
A recipe I have for vegan brownies is beyond amazing!
Kale Chips are my newly found favorite snack!
Fruit. And vegetables. You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy the beauty and simplicity of a roasted winter squash!
Can I just add a note expressing my heartfelt gratitude to you for opening the giveaway to people in other countries as well?
My favourite vegan food is home made gaucamole!
My fave vegan food would have to be hummus. Can’t live without it!
Vegan overnight oats! and… smores cupcakes!
My favorite food is your pumpkin gingerbread with spiced buttercream. Yum!
Are these Eggplant Carnitas! I add trader joes soyrizo & my favorite salsa and guac! http://sweetbeetandgreenbean.net/2009/11/10/eggplant-carnitas-tacos/
My favourite vegan food was the no-bake double chocolate torte (of YOURS!) that I made the other night. Avocado goodness!
My favorite vegan food is chocolate avocado pudding. Similar to the one in your torte. Mainly anything chocolate and vegan is my favorite. If its vegan chocolate is healthy right?
I just made your apple streusel cake in a jar for the holiday season, and it is definitely my new favorite dessert! I will be making it again asap.
I could easily eat a dark chocolate vegan macaroon every day (Can’t wait for holiday baking!). But I’m also a huge fan of salads because of their versatility and the fact that you can pack them with veggies!
