I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

LOVING persimmon season and here’s a great chia bowl perfect for winter. You can make it the night before like overnight oats, or you can make it in the morning and even warm it up on the stove on a chilly morning.
Pom Persimmon Chia Bowl
2 Tbsp Chia
3/4 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp maple extract
stevia (or skin the maple extract and use english toffee stevia)
cinnamon
sea salt optional
1 persimmon chopped
handful pomegranate arils
Soak Chia Seeds in almond milk (optionally overnight). Stir in Cinnamon, 1 tsp maple extract, and stevia liquid (or preferred sweetener) to your liking. Optionally hit that with a tiny dash of sea salt. Allow the chia to swell for about 15 minutes, if not soaking over night. Have as is or heat up in a small pot. Start by melting a 1/2 tsp (non soy) earth balance into the pot. Add the chia mixture and heat to your liking. Place in your favorite bowl and stir in one chopped persimmon and a handful of pomegranate arils.
I love One Lucky Duck! My favorite vegan treat is your pumpkin pie recipe with the spiced pecan crust! Heaven!
I heart almond milk.
My favorite vegan food is a thai tofu basil I made which originally called for chicken and fish sauce. I used tofu and soya sauce instead. Yummy!
Hmmm..favorite vegan food…i’d have to say Mama Peas chocolate peanut butter dough balls. I’ve made them at least 5 times within the last few months and will be making them again this Thursday for a Christmas party :)
one of my fav. vegan foods is Amy’s lental soup or simply hummus + vegan flaxcrackers.
My favorite vegan meal is butternut squash Mac and cheese!
Every recipe you share is my favorite for that day, with highlights on your granola, VOO, and cannot even begin to tell you how delicious your cookie dough balls are – I bring them to work and they are gone in seconds.
These last few weeks its been portebello mushroom and avocado burgers, thanks for all your recipes!
I love all of your “Overnight Oats” recipes and variations. I have shared them with many family members and…what a hit!
i love vegan overnight oats! so delish and a perfect start to the day! :)
My favorite vegan dish (something that is specifcally vegan, as opposed to the various veggie dishes I incorporate regularly) would have to be Angela’s Cookie Dough Balls! Phenomenal!
One of my fav vegan meals is a spinach lasagna. My husband didn’t even know it didn’t contain cheese!
The only way to answer this question is to be in the present! Right now, my fave vegan dishes are Corn and Coconut Soup…. and Pumpkin Mac & Cheeze! Both have very warm spice combos and are undeniably comforting for the winter months.
