I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
It’s not a meal… but kale chips are amazing and a staple in my house!
My favorite vegan food is actually a recipe from Sarma’s book “Raw Food Real World”. It’s a Thai Spring wrap, with a cabbage/mango/carrot mix, an almond butter mixture, cashews soaked in sesame oil all wrapped up in a scrumptious collard leaf. YUM!!!
Green Monster smoothies are my ultimate favourite!
Well since it is persimmon season and I do have a persimmon tree, my favorite vegan food item would have to be the Whole wheat persimmon muffins that i make. They are made with Whole wheat pastry flour, persimmon’s, dried apricots, raisins, pecans and various spices. The are a hit with my co-workers. Everyone comes into my office looking for them..I think last count i have made over 200 of these muffins and have given about 3/4 of them away.
Thanks for letting me share. If you wan the recipe i will be more than happy to pass it along.

I like to keep it simple. Fruit (currently on a mad clementine kick), veggies, and of course, peanut butter and hummus.
Hmmm…. Right now, chickpea lentil soup, and no-bake chocolate jam tarts!
I love one lucky ducks macaroons…So good! I’m also a huge fan of ohsheglows vegan enchiladas :)
Buckwheat Crunch Chocolate sounds extremely delicious! My favourite vegan food would definitely have to be overnight oats….or a green monster. But you can’t really go wrong with either!
I love anything pumpkin!! I tried almost all of your recent pumpkin recipes. What a great holiday.
I haven’t met a vegan food that I haven’t liked, yet anyway! Does that make sense? Ha ha…but I guess if I had to pick a couple of favorites, I’d have to say kale sauteed with garlic in a little olive oil tossed with pine nuts, and vegan chocolate cake w/chocolate icing. Chocolate peanut butter zig-zag Purely Decadent ice cream ranks right up there too! Oh I can’t choose – too many wonderful foods! ( ;
My favorite is the Carrot Dog (HeartWorks had made this tasty dish)– take carrot, boil it, drain it, lightly saute it in soy sauce, then stick it on a toasted whole grain bun. Top with condiments (mustard, ketchup, vegan slaw, etc…). It is so super yummy! Try it–I think you’ll like it too! : )
I can’t pick just one! I love hummus, nut butters, CHOCOLATE!, oats, green monsters, smoothies, the list goes on and on!
Love homemade grannola with almond or coconut milk, anything with garbanzo beans, daiya grilled cheese, kale/celery/apple fresh squeezed juices, pumpkin overnight oats, vegan borritos, butternut sqash/apple soup.
Favorite current vegan food is sweet potato and corn chowder. Could.not.stop.eating.it.last.week. Great for the recent chilly weather!
Also can’t live without your granola bars. They basically keep me alive when I am busy!
Oh wow! Well… I am gonna go with what I am craving right now. Keeping it simple with fresh juice… especially with apples and beets. This is probably because I am coming down with something and need it.. badly! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
JUST ONE? oh dear… most of my fave foods are vegan! If you dont count my morning oats & apple… I suppose I’d say vegan sloppy joes and vegan chili are my faves… because they are so hearty and comforting ( not what most people think of when they think veg)! Loved reading about your NYC trip!
My favorite vegan food is baigan bharta. So good!
I love all vegan desserts! I am not vegan but almost 75% what I bake is!
Lately I can’t get enough of your recipe for pumpkin mac and “cheese”. I double the sauce and use it on corn pasta. My teen boys love it! Also I’ve been making a lot of No-bake Coconut oat bars (from “Until we eat again”) Yum !!
Sauteed and seasoned radishes. Surprisingly mellow.
