I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Veggie soups!
It’s so hard to choose… Tempeh is definitely a favourite, though!
I love to eat fruit salad with soy yogurt, sliced almonds, and chopped up spinach!
Honestly My FAVORITE vegan food is not some fancy baked good or entree of the sort. My favorite vegan food would simply be veggies. I know this may sound weird but yes they are vegan friendly plus, they are packed with vitamins and minerals that keep my body moving. My favorite of them all would have to be red bell peppers, they are crunchy and sweet plus you can grill, roast, or put into any dish you like!
Hi Angela!!
One of my new fave vegan foods is the lentil walnut loaf from your website… it is hearty, satisfying, and that glaze! I could almost drink it out of the bowl I make it in. Anyhoo, thanks for the great website and recipes.
Kelli from Winnipeg
Larabars! Home-made or store bought!
I love chia seeds. I never knew they existed until going Vegan. We live in the South and it is difficult to get many raw food items down here. Thanks for the chance to win them.
Almond Milk, it is a great alternative.
On the savory side, kale. Kale with white beans, kale chips, braised kale, kale in soups. On the sweet side – brownies and those PPK chocolate peanut butter pillow cookies. They are truly amazing.
love my spicey black bean hummus, my roasted chick peas and my butternut soup :))
Your trip as been so much fun to watch! Thanks for posting and I hope you

I’m a vegetarain since age 10 . Following a vegetarian diet was not so difficult since I grew up eating south indian cuisine ( Tamil cuisine to be precise) and there are thousand different veg ingredients which can be cooked in a thousand different ways in this cuisine. One thing I miss most in the US are a few items like banana stem ( makes a very savory vegetable) , different varieties of greens. In this blog I find all the vegan dishes very interesting soon to try out a few :)
My favorite vegan food is yours! Pumpkin pie brownies especially!
