I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Leave a comment below telling me one of your favourite vegan foods and I’ll pick One Lucky Duck on Tuesday! Goodluck. :)
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
I LOVE your vegan mac & cheese and veggie burgers. They are the staple of my diet.
I love leafy greens, butternut squash mac’n chz, and seitan. I really can’t get enough seitan.
Sour Cream and Onion Kale Chips for sure!
I am new to vegan living…and loving it!!! I have to say that kale in most any form is a fave, though I’m particularly fond of kale “slaw” (with avocado “dressing”)! :) What a blessing it would be to be such a lucky duck!!!
Well, my mind is on vegan desserts… There is a restaurant a couple of blocks from my apartment that makes delicious vegan desserts – which I am so thankful for, because I was pretty sure when I moved to this town that options for me would be limited. My favorite thing on their ever-changing menu is their PB&J Dream Bar – a chocolate crust-like base, layers of peanut butter and jelly, coconut sprinkled on top, and some other unidentified magic mixed in (so that I have yet to successfully recreate them at home). Yum!
I could live on your Weekend Glow Kale Salad!! And the Protein Goddess Bowl – that dressing could make anything taste amazing!!
Made your quick energy bars over the weekend. I’m all about them (and so are my kids!)
I guess I’m not exactly vegan…really wanting to take that plunge. So far, kale chips are a favorite. Hoping to expand my vegan experiences soon!
Absolutely love kale chips and hummus!
Thank you, I have so enjoyed your beautiful site.
My favorite vegan food is hummus!! Put it on pita, toasted nori, apples, kale chips….mmm I love hummus :)
My favourite vegan food is dessert – coconut rice pudding! Yummm…
I love One Lucky Duck’s macaroons and their cinnamon striped cookies!
We are obsessed with your walnut lentil loaf. My kids devour it, and I feel so good knowing how much good stuff they are getting in each bite. As a side note…these are some hard kids to please, so this has become a staple in our house.
Hmm, hard to pick a favorite, but I’m going to go with your vegan overnight oats!
My favorite vegan food…. hmm. If I had to pick one, it would be anything with cashews in it! AND of course your veggie burgers!
I’d have to say almonds, they are so versatile…in sauces, in my raw almond bars, roasted with cinnamon and sugar for a snack…its endless thankfully!
Gosh it is hard to narrow down! I guess one vegan product that I have embraced since going vegan is nutritional yeast! I put it on everything… (raw cacoa powder is a close second!)
Thanks for the giveaway! I am so jealous of all your great meals! I’ve always wanted to go to NYC! :)
Wow, it is hard to pick just one vegan food, but I would have to say since becoming vegetarian three years ago, I have found some new comfort food. I think my favorite Salty Savory are kale chips, and I flavor them however my mood swings. The next things are the blondies from your videos, but I mix and match what I throw in there. I like those because I swear I am addicted to sugar, but I am a diabetic and those bars do not throw of my blood sugar. Yeah, I hope I win. I have been trying some raw recipes and they have been very good, but living in Idaho you have to hunt for everything.
I am loving vegan reubens! Meatless salami- daiya mozzarella, vegenaise thousand island, sauerkraut, and then placed in the panini press. HOLY MOLY is it ever yummy! and I have made the choc-peanut butter cups 5 times since you posted, they are incredible. I could go on and on- eating vegan is so delicious!
I think your vegan brownies might have become my favourite food. But I love the raw vegan cheese stuffed blossoms at Pure Food and Wine, and their cheesecake. Yum! So envious of you having been in New York – you visited all my favourite vegan haunts. I moved away this summer :(
