I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Leave a comment below telling me one of your favourite vegan foods and I’ll pick One Lucky Duck on Tuesday! Goodluck. :)
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
My favourite vegan food is beans, hands down. But if we’re going for prepared foods here, I think I’d have to say pasta with your roasted-tomato pesto and the wheat-bean balls from Veganomicon. Nom nom nom. Good thing dinner is in the oven now, because I’m getting hungry!
Can’t really pick a favorite……but I probably make oatmeal the most of anything. Sometimes VOO, sometimes hot (really love your pumpkin pie oatmeal), if I have time, steel cut oats. I could eat oatmeal every morning and not get sick of it.
Peanut butter. Hands down! And anything else that is vegan that I add peanut butter to.. which is probably most vegan things..
My favorite vegan food has to be baja tacos and boogie bars for the Native Food Cafe!!! Delish!
I’m just making my way over to vegan so I haven’t had that huge of an amount of vegan foods yet (that I knew about anyway) but so far my favourite would have to be the quinoa kitchari from the 30 minute vegan. I had some last week and I am so glad that I have enough quinoa and lentils to make it again!
i love nutritional yeast…my favorite use for it lately is your b-nut squash mac n cheese! delish!
I love pumpkin seeds – either raw or tossed in maple syrup and chili powder and then toasted.
It has to be your nutritional yeast cheez sauce – thanks again for all the recipes!
I’ve just started a vegan diet and my favourite so far is definitely you’re best veggie burgers ever! I made them and ate them for dinner for three days they were so good!
i looove s&v kale chips and ag ood ol’ veggie burger!
My favorite has to be nutritional yeast!
I know they’re trendy, but I love kale chips!
My roommate makes the most delicious vegan oatmeal-banana cookies – which sound suspicious to most people, but they’re always converted after the first bite!
Vegan Charcuterie Plate @Gather in Berkeley, CA…yummmmmmmm :)
Nothing better than some celery ribs with almond butter, reminds me of the fun snack times of “ants on a log” as a child
ps, if you are lucky enough to make it to One Lucky Duck, try their blueberry mango sunrise smoothie, it’s AMAZING!!!
Black bean and corn quinoa! Or maybe vegan gingerbread molasses cookies.
vegan mac & cheese…xoxoxoxo
Hmmm… I’ll go for comfort and say homemade oatmeal with almond milk. (Or anything from Fresh – I’m from Toronto ;) ).
favourite vegan food – is veggie juice a food? I really love making beetroot, carrot and apple juice with my husband! :)
i loooove sweet potato sauce drizzled over broccoli rabe.
