I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Dirty Carrots in Baltimore makes an AMAZING vegan blondie. YUM!!!!
Favorite Vegan food??… so many to chose but for right now it’s gotta be Vegan Chili! Yummm! with some freshly baked buckwheat bread!
Macaroons!
My favourite vegan food is your Butternut Squash Mac n Cheeze! Thank you for the recipe.
OMG! I can’t believe I’ve been to NYC several times and have never stopped in Lucky Duck. Choosing a single favorite vegan food is tough, but I’d have to probably choose Yumm sauce drizzled over stir-fried veggies and brown rice.
My favorite vegan food is a delicious, warm chocolate chip cookie!
Banana Soft serve really did change my life! I make it with peanut butter ( that’s another obsession) and shredded unsweetened coconut. I top it with homemade granola and drizzle it with warm peanut butter and dark chocolate. I could eat this every day of my life!!!!
raw vegan coconut ice cream!
I love pretty much any kind of vegan food there is, but one of my favorite snacks is homemade granola with lots of nuts and fruit. Yum!
P.S. not trying to persuade you or anything, but… I think this is a really great and helpful blog for anyone trying to transition into a vegan diet. You really don’t have to give up any of the things that you love to eat, and it’s nice to have help along the way with new and unexpected recipes so frequently appearing. Thanks!
Spicey peanut sauce.. yummmmmy
GUACAMOLE!
Despite my initial hatred of them, I’ve really grown to love salads. A good dressing and some substance (e.g. nuts, croutons, grains, tofu, beans, etc…) instead of merely leafy greens and watery vegetables really makes a salad for me!
My favorite vegan food is Butternut Squash Mac n Cheese….mmmmm so delicious!!
I’ve been browsing a cookbook by Sarma M and Matthew Kenney — Raw Food. It’s beautiful and inspiring! My favorite vegan food? Tough to choose, but I’d say green drinks with juiced kale, lemon, apple, and ginger, because I feel so good when I drink them daily.
My sister’s jalapeno jam with vegan crackers and tofutti cream cheese. So good!
My favourite (right now) is raw cauliflower with cashew/sunflower seed “cheese” sauce and parsley to garnish. So delicious!
One of my favorite vegan foods is hummus. I eat it every day!
There is a vegan restaurant here in Edmonton called Padmanadi. They have a chicken and potato curry on their menu that is just incredible. My mouth is watering just thinking of it!
My favorite vegan food is PIZZA!!! Made a million different ways. I never get tired of vegan pizza.
qunoa burger…. with sweet potato fries… and a chocolatey cookie to finish YUM!
