I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

I love dough balls because one can eat the cookie dough with out all of the worries that come with traditional cookies….plus all of the great fruits and veggies.
I grew up in San Diego and now live in NY (I loved your NYC trip photos, they gave me some ideas!) I miss mexican food but I have found it is very easy to make good vegan mexican food. I like it HOT!!
I have been juicing. Any type of juice is great!!
Some of the Whole Foods in the NYC metro have a Whole Earth Salad. I have to figure out how to make it! It has kale, sprouts, and a nutty dressing. LOVE! Oh, and I also am crazy about the smoothies at One Lucky Duck. Good thing I live uptown, otherwise I could see my paycheck slowly disappear there : )
Tough decision, but I would have to say that the Living Food of St. Ive’s chocolate pies are out of this world!!! Great giveaway by the way ;o)
SO excited that you got to visit NYC – aren’t the Vegan Dining options the most amazing ever?? One Lucky Duck was probably my fav! Hope you got a chance to visit Pure Food and Wine – most amazing food and atmosphere ever!!

Sweet Potatoes and avocado…an addictive combo!
Hi!!! my favorite vegan food would be a salad full of vegetable with vegan cheese on it or with a miso homemade dressing. I also really enjoy green smoothie!!

I would have to say my favorite vegan food is a roasted veggie soup with barley that I make. Yum!
Usually desserts are my favorite. This month I’m stuck on cashew cheesecakes like the awesome version in sweetly raw I made this week: http://www.sweetlyraw.com/ . Love kale chips really spicy or sprout filled smoothies too. Love the blog, thanks!
One of my favs is onion bread made with flaxseed and sunflower seeds and onions. The raw community dehydrates it, but I put it in the oven (when I want it, it want it now) . I top if off with a sunflower pate’, avacado and red onion. I’ looking for a fabulous ginger sesame dressing, can you help me out?
Tomato soup on a cold winter day….mmmm.
kale chips. especially the “sour cream” and onion ones.
I love kale chips with nutritional yeast. Acutally, I love anything with nutritional yeast!
I was hoping that you’d make it to One Lucky Duck! I keep reading/hearing about OLD and I hope to make it there one day. Raw food is fascinating and I’ve love that goody bag so I can finally try it!
Falafel is all time favorite!! No-fry version. Healthy, delicious, and gives you energy for hours. Here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/04/dining/041mrex.html

I am just now learning about vegan cooking and I must say I am totally amazed at how diverse the diet can actually be. I think my favourite discovery has been that the avocado and chocolate combo can actually make a delicious dessert. Who knew?!
My favorite vegan food is dairy free Nutella!!! Not the healthiest (obviously), but a good indulgence :)
Oh geez, where do i even start!? Vegan food is just so amazing! I love anything with lentils or beans. As for comfort food, I would say vegan mac and “cheese” and I love love love your lentil loaf recipe! I make it often and I love having letil loaf sandwiches with the leftovers. Im also a big lover of soup and I’ve been really into no-chicken noodle lately. As for sweets i like peanut butter cookies or divvies double chocolate chip. Oh and I love just about every vegetable. And one last thing…nutritional yeast is the best thing that has ever happened to me! : )
