I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Oooh I know!! My new favorite dip – raw garlic (and throw a couple roasted in there, if you want), spinach, olive oil, salt, and potatoes all blended together, eaten with Mary’s Gone Crackers. I’m in love.
vegan carrot cake! doesn’t get any better :)
Your veggie burger! I love it :)
Those cinnamon crispies look delicious! My favourite vegan food.. I can’t choose, so I’m going to go with vegan snack food and choose Hemp Cream and Chive kale chips.. mmm!!
Quinoa, definitely! It’s versatile, delicious, and chock full of protein goodness! And it amazes me how many people have never heard about it. I love telling people about it!
Tahini, tahini, tahini (and miso). But really TAHINI. Hello, everythng is creamy with tahini. No need for dairy here.
Green Monsters, by far. No matter which new version/concoction I try, I am always satisfied!
I love a good coconut chai latte:) i could have them daily in the winter!!
vegan cupcakes!!! And anything that has to do with roasted veggies!
I love seitan! I also am a big fan of coconut raw vegan snack foods. You know what I mean? The coconut balls I believe they are called….
Favorite vegan food is oatmeal with peanut butter!
Favorite vegan food? SO hard to decide. I think it’s because I see it as delicious food first…and then remember it’s vegan! If I had to choose, I’d say any baked goods…cookies, cakes, muffins, etc. No one believes me when I say “No, really, this is actually quite healthy!”
Now that we’re in winter, one of my favorite vegan foods is a good old-fashioned vegetable soup. Just about nothing is as hearty or comforting. :)
My favorite vegan food is BROCCOLI!!
Kale chips!! Sooo good and I’m a big snacker so nice to have something healthy AND delicious to snack on.
I love any vegan goodies with dates :).
Since playing around with going vegan/raw for the past year the one thing I have been consistent with (i.e. don’t feel right if I don’t have it) is my green smoothie made with almond milk, kale and fruit!!
My vegan favs are apple pie oatmeal, everything peanut butter and green monsters! Thanks Angela for helping make eating vegan so much easier and fun!
I loved the vegan chili! The chia seeds really helped thicken the sauce right up for a hardy home cooked meal :)
My favorite vegan food would have to be fair trade cocoa powder—it is way more versatile than people think and it has good health properties too! I mix it in a food processor with frozen bananas to create homemade vegan chocolate ice cream. I add it to my almond milk in a blender to make healthy chocolate milk. You can add it to your mexican spices with your bean buritos to give it that extra oomph, like a mole sauce. it’s great in oatmeal, so you can even have it with breakfast. put some in your coffee grounds as your brew coffee. the possibilities are endless. i’m a chocoholic at heart and i love my cocoa powder!!!
