I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Leave a comment below telling me one of your favourite vegan foods and I’ll pick One Lucky Duck on Tuesday! Goodluck. :)
This contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
My favorite vegan foods have to be the raw cookie dough balls and chocolate chip cookies (I sure do love chocolate cookies, huh?)
My fav. vegan food would be my home made chili :)
Gluten free carrot cupcakes, I do a lot of baking but am allergic to wheat so when I
managed to get these perfect (not crumbly and lovely and moist) I knew I would never be without them! Have frozen a load of them and they defrost well so always have some around :). Having said that a friend made a gluten and sugar free banana loaf this weekend that was divine…
My favorite vegan food is definately dessert. I love that I can whip up some delicious vegan cookies and then lick the spoon too =)
it’s hard to pick one…but right now i’m transitioning more to raw so i’m going to have to say, my favorite is probably a smoothie made with coconut water, frozen bananas, cinnamon, maca, mesquite, and cacao.
Post-Punk Kitchen’s Mac ‘n’ Shews has lately been my favorite. The best vegan mac and cheese ever, with no nutritional yeast. Isa knows her stuff. Also, I love One Lucky Duck! I took my (meat-eating) Dad to Pure Food and Wine a few weeks ago, and he loved it! hooray for raw vegan goodness!
My favourite vegan recipe is the sweet potato and black bean salad that’s on the New York Times website. It’s made with fresh cilantro and a chili-lime dressing. So good!
I love all the healthy and fresh vegan food I eat everyday! My favorite is probably fresh raspberries and blueberries, and any other summer fruits! Though the vegan pumpkin muffins in my oven right now are a close second :D Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi there!
I am currently reading crazy sexy diet. I have multiple vegetarian/vegan books, and am trying to make the transition to vegan. I was vegan about 5 years ago, in a very unhealthy way. This time around I want to be healthy and happy. I am having some troubles with cooking though, trouble being as I cant cook! lol I love your blog and am striving to be more like you. Reading your blog has really changed my outlook on food:) So thank you for that!
My favorites vegan food has to be quinoa since its easy to prepare and tastes amazing. Also cause its so versatile!
katie
My favourite vegan food is your Black Bean & Squash Burritos! :)
My favorite vegan food is definitely dark chocolate. I want it, I need it. It makes my day complete. A close second is hummus!
I love Larabars :)
My favorite vegan food is anything raw.
Almond milk – hands down. I was first introduced to it by reading your blog – and it has been lover ever since lol. Great for smoothies and on cereal – so good straight up cold too!
love ever since – lover = kinda weird
I guess if I just had to pick one it would be green smoothies (although many of the others mentioned are up there too!)
Anything from Great Sage restaurant. I’ve never been disappointed!
I never tried anything vegan.. always wanted to try! i’m sure vegan chocolate would taste heavenly =P
Our favorite vegan food is a beet cake with three types of berries: black, strawberry & raspberries in the frosting. The cake was dense, moist and bright red! We had doubts but we’re blown away! We tried this delight at a vegan spot here in Tulsa, OK called Cafe Samana. An honorable mention goes out to a tasty sweet potato cake. Lastly, sweet potatos would be my top food item. Cheers!
baked pumpkin oatmeal is a staple in my life…love this giveaway!!
Love your vacation photos and seeing all the places you have visited.
