I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Such a tough question! I would have to say that I love vegan desserts above all. There’s just something so incredible about the fact that a decadent dessert can actually be good for you!
Lemon Dill Hummus!!! Could live off that stuff!!!
My favorite vegan food is tempeh.
As I type this I am enjoying my favorite vegan food on a cold morning, rolled oats made with unsweetened almond milk, applesauce and a touch of cinnamon. Very cheap and SUPER tasty!
I’m addicted to this carrot parsnip soup I found in a slow cooker cookbook – In fact, I’m about to go start cooking some right now!
Your homemade version of the Whole Foods detox salad!
Ahhh such a hard choice! But as of right now I’m on a huge oatmeal kick, I would seriously eat it at every meal if I could. With almond milk, raisins and tons of homemade granola!
I love Larabars! They can get pretty pricy though, so I’d like to try a homemade version.
My favorite vegan food is definitely cashew cream. It’s so versatile! Depending on the spices you add, it can go from alfredo sauce to nacho cheese to creamy beverages, yumm. I wouldn’t be able to live without this delicious rich and creamy delight.
My favorite vegan food is simply tempeh! I crave it all the time!
omg those One Lucky Duck cheesy quackers are the BEST! But my faaavorite vegan food is lightly steamed kale and roasted sweet potatoes drizzled with tahini (the good stuff you find at Middle Eastern markets). I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner… and sometimes I do. Being vegan is awesome ;)
My favourite vegan food is quinoa, tomato paste, salsa and hummus all mixed together! It is so delicious and a staple I eat at least once a week! Lucky you! NYC looks amazing! I am hoping to go soon!
Hands down my favorite vegan food is a (vegan) veggie burger sandwich loaded with veggies & hummus. They’re just so tasty, filling & good for you! :)
Well, it would have to be the incredible Vegan Double Chocolate Brownies at Whole Foods. Uhmazing!!!!
Breakfast! particularly oatmeal loaded with goodness such as fruits (sometimes vegetables aka carrots or pumpkin), nut and seed butters, chia, raw cacao nibs, coconut, a scraped vanilla bean, cinnamon & a drizzle of 100% maple syrup. Do it up!
This time of year…soups and stews…warming from the inside out! :) Oh, and all of the super yummy vegan breakfast options (breakfast if my favorite meal of the day) like your VOOs…my hubby and I are ADDICTED to them!! :) Your NYC trip looks like it was fabulous! I try to get up there once a year…now I have some new food spots to check out! :)
I would say one of my favorite vegan foods is cashew cheese sauce. YUM!!!!
So very hard to choose, but I would have to say smoothies, anything with squash or cookies!
Kale salad. Particularly Mama Pea’s Kale Sunshine Salad. I have nothing but neverending praise for that recipe, despite its simplicity. :D
some of my favorite vegan foods have been your recipes! your burritos and salads are fantastic =)
