I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!
We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

Vegan rosemary potato soup made with yukon golds. I could eat that and kale chips every single day!
Chocolate vegan macaroons! So good, and so easy to make.
Angela,
I first have to say that your blog is absolutely incredible and I love reading every post!
I would have to say that my favourite vegan foods are a tie between your Sweet Potato Oatmeal Breakfast Casserole and a raw coconut brownie that is beyond incredible at a local raw food restaurant!
Beth
Everytime I try one of your recipes it becomes my new favorite vegan food!!! Some of my regular go-to’s are detox salad, long weekend grilled salad, butternut squash and chickpea salad, 15 minute avocado pasta, VOO and GM’s! I do have to say my favorite is the raw double chocolate torte (mmmmm, chocolate!!).
Keep up the great work, you are an amazing inspiration for anyone trying to eat healthier!
NOOCH!
I LOVE your Roasted Tomato Basil Pesto…why have I waited so long to roast tomatoes?! Delish!!
I would have to say my favorite vegan food is your macaroni and cheese. It is DELICIOUS and turned me on to a vegan lifestyle!
loved your new york recaps!! your meals looked amazing. i don’t eat a lot of vegan savory food, but do enjoy vegan desserts. i loooove your ‘cookie dough.’ probably my fave thing i’ve tried from your blog, even though everything i’ve tried is soooo good!
Omg, snacking is my forte! :) And I love vegan!
As a new vegan (15 days and counting), I love sweet potatoes. They are so versatile- dice them up for hashbrowns in the morning, mash them as a side for lunch or chop and bake them with kale and onions for a savory dinner.
I haven’t had any vegan sweet yet. I can’t figure out where to buy them.
Chocolate tofu cheesecake – cocoa powder is amazing at covering the soy taste of silken tofu. Actually, cocoa powder is amazing in every way. :)
My co-worker decided to go vegan and it was a little hard because we ate a lot of the same food choices and I am a country girl in every way….! BUT she bakes the most amazing goodies and brings them in to share, so up to this point I will say her peanut butter cups and chocolate cookies with crushed peppermint candies in top. OMGosh they are soooooo good! Never knew vegan baking could be so delish!
Only one? I have too many favorite vegan foods!! Haha, anything with kale! Kale chips, kale juice, kale pesto. Kale is favorite vegan food, you can use it in alot of recipes!
There is a restaurant in the city I live called Rebar – lots of great vegetarian and vegan delights!
Also: Kudos to your pumpkin mac and cheese! Made it with gluten-free basil pasta :)
Oatmeal with peanut butter and bananas
Wow, that’s a hard one! So many choices. I guess I’d have to say nuts & nut butters. My life would be incomplete without them. =)
I love vegan overnight oats!! Yum!
I have a revived love for vegan baking & specifically vegan chocolate chip cookies since I started operating a dayhome. Its so nice to not have to worry about ingesting icky raw eggs when baking with children, they can eat all the batter they want!
Personally though I LOVE baked tofu.
Nothing fancy here…just simple almond milk for me!! I love so many vegan foods but my family couldn’t live without good ole’ almond milk!!!
I like a lot of vegan foods, but I’d have to say kale chips are my number one favorite!
