I did it. I found number nine on my 9 in ’09 list! Here are the first 8:
Things I have never done but want to in ’09
- RACE! [my first half marathon (May 10th 2009); my first 5k (March 29th)…etc]
- Run 1,000 miles in 2009
- Visit a new country (we are thinking Ireland this year)
- Start an online bakery
- Raise over $2,500 for Cancer research
- Renovate our new house (e.g., learn how to install hardwood, do basic repairs, etc)
- Start working on my first cookbook
- Secure a BIG ($$$) contest giveaway on Oh She Glows
What is number 9 you ask?
- Learn and practice YOGA!
Last night, I ordered my first Yoga DVD. Ok, not my first. I had one in university, but the DVD sucked and the lady was really creepy.
After taking all of your suggestions into account and doing lots of research on the reviews on Amazon, I decided to order Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga.
The general consensus of the reviews was that if you can put up with Bryan’s tight jeans, long hair, and open shirts (lol), you will find yourself with the best yoga DVD collection out there. Bryan is said to be, “very patient and persistent. His comments are encouraging and reassuring.”
He realizes that everyone is at a different level.
Apparently, his yoga is a bit tough for beginners, but I’ve always liked a challenge. :)
I hope that I will really enjoy adding yoga to my routine! I think it will be a nice compliment to running and weight training.

I was sooo tired last night. So very tired. I read my Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide in bed and konked out. I got more stiff last night as the day went on, and I was pretty sure that I was going to take the day off of exercise today.
And when I woke up this morning there was no way in hell I was exercising! My body was telling me it needed a rest day. So I gladly listened to it and got some more sleep to boot!
I am sure I will be raring to go for a run tomorrow morning! :) The beauty of rest days is that it really makes you crave your workouts the next couple of days.

Breakfast was easy & delicious this morning:
- Nature’s Path Spelt cereal
- nature’s Path Flax Plus (Pumpkin Raisin flavour)
- 1/2 a banana

I’m off to work for a 2-day workweek! Not too shabby :) One day til Friday!!
Does anyone have any fun plans this weekend?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga series!!! They are my fave at-home yoga dvds.
Great 9 in ’09 list!!! I’m intrigued by the online bakery idea…I’ve discovered a love of baking in the last few years and one of my resolutions this year is to kick it up a notch. I received some great equipment for Xmas and am even working on a second blog to track my progress…! :)
Getting into yoga is one of my 2009 goals too! I’m hoping I can find a way to fit it into my schedule once a week. It may be tough b/c there is only 1 class at my gym that I could ever make it to and no room in my apartment to do it there. But I’m gonna try!
Way to go on finding your #9!! Hope you like the yoga DVD’s!
Fun this weekend….let’s see….we’re going to a fund raiser hockey game tomorrow afternoon. Guelph Storm against the Guelph Police. All money raised will go to the Make A Wish Foundation. Should be a good afternoon!
yay to your 9! I am just getting into yoga too, and I feel like once you get the hang of it you’re hooked… so now i’m just waiting for that! This weekend it is my old roommate from college’s birthday so we’re goign to go out to a magic bar? Ive never seen a magic show, but it sounds like it could be fun! Hope you have a great weekend, and enjoy your short workweek!
can’t wait to hear more about the online bakery and how that happens and what you are going to do with it. If you ship to California, I’ll buy something! love me some sweets.
Weekend plans should be fun: I’m running a half marathon Saturday morning and then driving 2 hrs out to Palm Springs, CA, to visit family. its suppose to be 76! so excited about that.
everyone have a good weekend whatever you do!
I think your 9 in ’09 list is fabulous! I’ve been doing yoga for a few years, and it’s addictive. I wanted to share another awesome yoga workout – this one is definitely high-intensity and amazing. The teacher/founder of my yoga studio made a X-Flowsion DVD series. http://www.yogashelter.com/?section=x-flowsion_trailer.
I’m jealous of your short work week! :)
HELL FREAKING YES FOR YOGA!! I do it daily :-)
You will have no problem raising the money. I had to raise $3,800 for my marathon. Once you are inspired by all the people you are helping, the asking is easy.
I can not wait to hear your yoga review, I have yet to find a good yoga dvd.
good call on the yoga. thats one of my ’09 goals too….let me know what you think of those videos. for some reason, im totally scared to go to a class (without a little bit of yoga knowledge first).

Hi Angela,
I recently started following your blog since you found me the other day and love it! Good luck with the 9 in ’09…I can’t wait to hear about your online bakery. I handroll truffles during the holidays and always get suggestions that I should sell them.
I’m also trying to get more into yoga this year as well run a half marathon.
Kelly I was thinking the same thing!
those DVDs look nice though… I do Ana and Ravi’s Kundalini Yoga.. or Mark Blanchards Power Yoga.. i cant do it with out a DVD i lose focus too fast.. enjoy!!
Great list. I’m working on mine.
I am running the Bermuda 1/2 marathon in 2 weeks. Getting nervous. That’ll be on the list though.
Went on a roadtrip around Ireland last summer with one of my best friends who is living in Dublin. It was fantastic, I’m sure you will enjoy it!
I also have this power yoga dvd by Kest and I absolutely love it!! Which reminds me…I havent done it in a while. I should go dig it up.
