My First Race Outfit: Part 1

May 31, 2009

Today was fun! I got to use my birthday gift certificate from my Brother in Law and Sis in Law for a nearby shopping mall. And of course, I knew exactly where I would use it!!

Lululemon

I wanted to buy a race outfit for the 10k race that is in exactly 2 weeks!!

I had a white tank top in mind because I have plans on decorating the shirt and white is a nice template!!

Here is what I tried on:

I have had my eye on the Speed Shorts for a LONG time (right).

Here are a few things I tried on:

A lovely Hills Running Skirt:

Some more run shorts with anti-chafe tights:

And here is the race outfit I decided on:

I love that the waist band on the shorts doesn’t ‘cut in’. It also has an elastic tie to tighten if need be.

As Leah always says, “Nice bum, where ya from?” lol ;)

Note the zipper pocket at the top- this is why I love Lulu!!!

A huge thank you to Dave and Ewa for the lovely gift!!

food Lunch was awesome leftovers!!! This Banana Apple Coconut Curry is simply amazing!! I polished off the rest today :)

 IMG_2442

  • 1.5 cups curry
  • 1 PC Flatbread bun
  • peanuts
  • coconut

And Spelt cereal + AB:

And a banana:

See you tonight for:

  • my proposed design for the tank top!!!
  • The TWO winners of my Align giveaway!
  • My grocery shop buys

Time to get to work! :) I want to design my logo/t-shirt today and also try out a new recipe with a new ingredient. If anyone has any experience making homemade t-shirt designs I would love it if you gave me tips! I am thinking iron on transfer right now but I am quite terrified it won’t work!

Coming up tomorrow:

  • My before and after measurements from the BBBC! Did it WORK?
  • A My Hip-T contest giveaway!

Hope you have a lovely day! Congrats to Meghann for finishing the marathon! WOW!

Iron-ons work very well- just make sure that you print it out backwards!! I have made this mistake before… and it would be a CRIME to ruin a LULU!!!

haha I know..I would pretty much DIE if I screwed it up! lol. I am going to design it in such a way that I can wear it again and again…you’ll see tonight I hope! Thanks for the tip, I didn’t think of that!~A

love lululemon, and of course the race outfit. I promised myself that if I finished my 12k without stopping I would buy myself a new outfit. I did it, but never got the outfit. I think its about time :)

LOL before I read that you quoted me I totally thought that in my head …oh I am creepy.

I LOVE your outfit and it’s funny you mention decorating the top because while I was running today I was thinking about what I could put on my shirt for my race.

I’m thinking something about being Canadian – duh.. gotta bring my roots into it!

I wish we were running together!!
I wonder if there is a race we could run in August?
Not like we don’t have enough going on that month lol.

hahaha – you DO have a nice bum!

I love how the shorts have a zipper. I saw a lot of girls wearing similar shorts yesterday and I was totally envious. I need some new running clothes asap!

What an adorable race outfit! I totally agree that the white tank top is very stylish and looks amazing on you. And those shorts sound PERFECT for running! :)

What a great lunch and a wonderful way to use up those leftovers. I can’t wait to hear about the grocery shopping finds tonight. So fun!

With the t-shirts, I would suggest that you look into getting them professionally printed/embroidered. My high school seems to have an obsession with selling t-shirts for every possible event, and we always draw up a design for the t-shirts ourselves, present it to a professional, and have them print it on t-shirts. I don’t remember the exact prices, but I know it was quite cheap (trust me, our school isn’t rich!) and definitely worth it with the quality you get and the time saved.

I love your race outfit, the zipper pocket is awesome!! I just found out there’s a Lululemon in the mall I’m going to on Wednesday, I’ve never been to one so I’m definitely going to stop in!

i hate how elastic waistbands always cut in! it creates the illusion of extra….skin.

Ahhh I’ve been eying the same shorts! I went on a lulu binge awhile back, and tell myself I don’t need anymore workout clothes(true), but every time I step in there just to “browse” I get too excited and have to rush out before I accidentally purchase something :)

You’ll be quite the fashionista on your race day!

LOVE lululemon!!!! I’m so jealous that you have one close enough to shop at; my closest lulu is at least 5 hours away:(

Although they just opened up their online store which is very very tempting for me. eeeeeeek.

You look very very cute in your new running gear, they fit you perfectly! You have a great athletic body.

I’m a big fan of the speed shorts. They were a part of my last half marathon race outfit.
Question about that tank- I tried one on this weekend and I found that with the white scoop (I tried the pink and white top instead of the plain white), the colour of the cups were visible through the white. Do you find that with yours? Maybe I just tried on a dud…I’d love to know because I loved the top but didn’t love that the cups showed through.

AHHH! I want those shorts in that colour/style — I tried them on but the size I needed wasn’t in stock…because they were a bit pricey I managed to ‘forget’ about them, now you’ve reminded me of them again!!!
