Happy Valentine’s Day!
Adriana’s newest thing is what I like to call The Mariah. Yup, she discovered her glass-breaking vocal chords and currently loves to squeak, squeal, and shriek alllllll day long. hah. I’m not kidding when I say all day long. Oh man, the girl has some pipes on her. I texted my friend and I was like…sooo this is just a phase, riiiiight? hah.
I took to Twitter:
Another silly thing she’s doing is what I like to call the 90-year old granny. She sucks her lips inward and looks like an old lady who forgot to put her dentures in. Our theory is that she’s trying to suck up all the drool off her chin.
Also enjoys: rolling back to tummy (but not so much tummy to back), grasping toys, exersaucer, this baby doll that laughs when you press it, holding our fingers, grabbing my hair and face, pulling out my hair (or what’s left of it), staring at Sketchie (she’s really taken notice to the cat this week and loves watching him).
The major progress of the week is that Adriana is starting to sleep longer stretches again. I feel like the 4-month sleep regression (or as some like to call it, the 4-month sleep progression since they make all kinds of great developments during this phase) seems to be letting up a bit. She’s waking up a few times a night, but a couple of those times she usually falls back to sleep on her own within a few minutes. It’s a damn miracle. This week I’ve been feeding her once overnight (usually around 3ish) and then not again until the morning. I feel like we are slowly, but surely getting into better groove! I’m sure it will all go out the window once she’s teething, but for now it’s nice to feel a bit more rested. We’ve been dealing with the sleep regression for a month and a half now, so we are more than ready to sleep. Bring it on, sleepy dust, bring it on.
We seem to be getting into a good routine lately. Wake up time is 7am on average. She goes down for a morning nap around two hours after waking, then a lunchtime nap, and then a late afternoon nap (which doesn’t start any later than 4pm now). This schedule has helped her sleep a lot better. She is usually awake 2-2.5 hours between naps which is working very well right now. She seems so much happier these days.
We had her 4 month doctor’s appointment this week (we were a bit late booking the appointment) and it went well. Her weight is right at the 50th percentile. She’s grown 6.5 inches since birth which puts her at 26.5 inches (90th percentile for height!). She’s growing like a weed. Girl is going to take after her tall daddy no doubt.
Well, gotta jet…we’ve got a busy day ahead! Hope you have a great weekend,
XO
I love reading about your baby adventures here!! That valentine’s day headband on your baby girl is TOO cute for words <3
She is getting more and more adorable. How can they be more adorable each day?
Now that i am back to work our Gabriela when i arrive back home looks at me and OMG she screams out and loud! So amazing. I almost cry looking at her. I miss her all day long. She is turning 5 monthsold today and i am managing to keep her exclusivly breastfeed.. its beginning quite a jorney to work and supply her with enough milk, but it is working and i want to keep it like this at least until next month when she turns 6 months.
I am studying a lot how to keep her vegan (my husband is not), since here in our country (Brazil) this is not commum and we do not have a lot of medical or nutritional support that are vegan friendly, but we are very luck to have that sort of assistance to us.
Keep posting her developments!
Xo
I’m sorry to say that my daughter discovered her vocal chords early and it lasted for years. As soon as she figured out that we were in a place that would produce an echo, she enjoyed it and put forth valliant efforts. My head stll hurts when I think about it and she’s 23 years old now. But that’s just one of the may joys of having a daughter.
I love these posts!! I got pregnant in November (unplanned) and during my weeks of screaming and crying and wondering how in the hell I could do this, your pregnancy blogs really helped me feel like I COULD do it! I’m now 16.5 weeks and… Doing it. It’s surprisigly easy for me so far, I have virtually no symptoms and just started to show this week.
I would really appreciate a blog post about YOU and how you’re coping with all the body changes that come with pregnancy. That is honestly the thing that terrifies me the most. Finally at age 35 I felt happy and comfortable in my body. I’m terrified of what my post partum body will do to my self esteem. :(
Oh I hear ya! Literally and figuratively :O) My daughter is revisiting that phase of shrieking again at 7 months so it might make a comeback for ya in a couple months, lol
Your baby sounds a lot like mine! I followed right along with your journey and now I have a 5 month old girl who shrieks sometimes and does that granny face. She also purses her lips and blows, lol. #babiesofveganmoms
She is absolutely adorable, Angela! I’m just wondering– is she going to be fed an all vegan diet once she starts eating?
I’m reading your baby posts week by week in line with my baby’s age (I started reading when I was pregnant and loved comparing my expertinence with yours), this 21 week post could describe my baby boy so perfectly!! The squealing, the cheek sucking, the better sleep suddenly! It is amazing how they develop. Love your baby posts and all your recipes – thank you for writing them. Abby (UK) xxx
