Happy Leah’s Wedding Day (and Friday!)!
As you read this I will be getting ready for Leah’s wedding (the ceremony begins at 3pm EST- Should I podcast it? haha jk!!!). However, our hotel supposedly has wireless internet so I hope to get a blog up. I also have a few posts planned to keep you entertained while I am away!
- Don’t forget to get your vote in for the winner of the Summer Glow Photoshoot contest!
- I was also passed along this fun Tic Tac Toe game. Tic Tac will donate an additional $1 to CancerCare for every game played, up to $5000. That’s above the $100,000 donation Tic Tac is already making to this special cause.

I would like to share with you this email I received after doing my post on finding your power spot.
A reader named Samantha shares her power spot with us!
Angela-
I loved your post on power spots and wanted to share a visual of mine.
It over looks Tumon Bay, Guam to the west and if you shift a few
degrees east, you see the east side of the island/ocean. It’s a 1.5
mile run up to the spot, and I usually spend some quality time doing
yoga and getting "lost" in another world, then walk the 1.5 miles
back. It’s a rare treat since I have 2 kids at home and a husband on a
submarine that is gone more than he’s home. When I get the
opportunity, I RELISH it!Regards,
Samantha

Wow, love it!
Remember- your power spot can be anywhere. As one reader so cleverly points out it is a state of mind:
Aaron says, “Lying out in the sun in the backyard, closing my eyes, and just letting my mind run free is my “power spot”. Not really a place, but its a state of mind I guess!”
So true!
So that got me thinking…what are some other places I could call my power spot?
- Comfy chair when Sketchie jumps up on me to cuddle
- Baking in the kitchen and ‘in the zone’
- Driving on a long, countryside drive with my music pumping and my windows down
- Running with no music and just my thoughts
DO you agree that power spots are a state of mind?
I certainly do. I am actually trying to work more on my mind and inner well-being lately. I think that this part of our health is often neglected in favour of the outwardly things such as toning muscles, improving our cardio, slimming down, etc. I reallly would love to get to a place where I make sure to give adequate time to work on my inner strength too. I need to get back into the habit of listing a few things I am grateful for each day.
Today’s question: Do you work on your inner self? What do you do? How do you think we can keep ouor inner selves ‘strong’ and ‘fit’?
SO funny you mentioned the grateful journal. Every night I write 3 things I am grateful for in my journal. I feel this helps keep things in perspective. I have started meditating and for someone who can be quite anxious on the inside, it is proving to be a difficult task but a necessary endeavour. I started with 1 minute in the morning and now am meditating for 5 minutes in the morning (again it may not seem like a long time but these 5 minutes of quality breathing and quiet really seems to be doing some good for me) I also recently finished reading Dr. Wayne Dyers ‘Change your thoughts, Change your life’ and it has given me a great deal to think about with regards to living a more balanced, fulfilled life. I also think living a healthy life with wonderful yummy foods, reading blogs such as OSG and sharing with thoughts and ideas with like minded individuals also helps :)
I like thinking that your power spot can be a state of mind! You can go there any where you are :)
Funny that you brought this up today Ang. I just read a book (two times so far) about Chinese Medicine that looks at health and well-being from a holistic perspective. It’s called “Chill Out & Get Healthy” and I think it should be available in stores soon. Anyway, it has so many helpful mental exercises that the author pleads with the reader to practice daily. I’ve adopted one and I find that it’s brought a new kind of brightness to my day, no matter what I’m doing. It also makes eating healthfully and exercising regularly much easier when I know I’m not just doing it to look good. Although we all know that’s a perk ;) You can check out my review of it here, if you’re interested- http://www.danielleabroad.com/2009/07/because-youre-worth-it.html
I totally agree. I have to “work out” my mind as well as my body. What I like to do is meditate for a few minutes and then think about where I am and where I want to be. If they aren’t the same thing then I have some goals to work on. I also like to think about 5 or 10 years down the road. Often I have a journal on hand to jot down my ideas. Then, I meditate and try to just relax and let my mind be still and empty for a few minutes before ending.
Lovely thoughts! I work on my inner self by trying to challenge myself daily. I used to suffer from really bad social anxiety, so on the days I’m sent to cover a big event or have to approach strangers to interview, I am conquering that anxiety. I always feel really proud of myself when I step out of that comfort zone :)
I’m with RunEatRepeat…if you can create that special place in your mind, it almost becomes a “power spot to-go” (in case you haven’t quite found a physical spot to take yourself too). The point is that you have one to enjoy. Amazing how many of us do this.

I agree about it being a state of mind, and I think yoga has helped me to achieve that better than anything else. In fact, I love yoga so much, I think my yoga mat is one of my power spots! Great post!
Great Post Angie! I always try to focus on my Mind, Body, and Spirit. However, I will admit to focusing on my BODY the most. I need to balance it out and maybe everything will just fall into place :)
What a great picture. I have recently started a new blog and every single morning I find a new daily affirmation that I post. It’s such a great way to start my day by sharing an affirmation with the world. It keeps me grounded.
I also am really focusing on my body, living a balanced life, and being grateful for what I have been given. I have thrown away my scale, and solely focus on what I need out of life and what I can give back. It’s helped to reduce my episodes of binging and if it happens I can stop it. The guilt is gone and I think of everyday as a step closer to where I want to be.
Thanks for always inspiring us. Have a fantastic time at the wedding.

i really really love this post.
my power spot can be anywhere and can be reached after running about half an hour. the first half hour is usual a bit tough, my legs feel a little heavy and breathing is hard. but then after half an hour, in comes the runner’s high and it feels like flying. that gives me a LOT of power!!!
Fake it til ya make it! I love when my mind is powerful and I can visualize the way I want to be.
