It’s Going To Be a Good Friday

April 10, 2009

Last night I was freezing. We have been turning the heat down even lower than usual to save IMG_8610

some money. I just couldn’t get warm! I took a comforter off the bed and wrapped myself in it before we watched 24.

It was so comfy.

We watched the first episode of season 7 last night. It was good, but I must say we really miss out regular characters! I hope they return- especially Chloe!

IMG_8616 IMG_8612

It was a great episode! Of course Eric wanted to watch more when that one ended around 11:45pm, but I was zonked. Holiday or no holiday, I knew I needed to get up early this morning and get cracking on my sugar cookies!

facts

Thank you all for your study tips yesterday! They helped me out huge. :) I am proud to say that I turned off the TV, PC monitor and I was able to read chapters 3-6! I am now more than half way through the manual.

I decided for the first time through I would read it to get a sense of the material (i.e., not take notes or quiz myself) and then the second time through I am going to zero in on the material.

For the most part the information has been super interesting!

I loved Greta’s comment last night:

“The best motivator is a rapidly approaching deadline.”

So true, isn’t it? I have never been a big procrastinator (I was always the first one done projects out of my friends), but I still do put things off. Knowing that I have to write this exam on May 4th is a big motivator for me because with everything I have going on, that isn’t tons of time.

food

I am insanely excited for my new Bamboo Tea box! Now, I have an obsession filling it up. :)

Some of my teas:

I am currently loving Echinacea Plus, goji berry green tea, and acai berry. I also love Yogi teas (this week was my first time having any). I checked out their website and they have a much bigger selection that my grocery store! I just may have to order some online. I would love to try their Detox tea!

fun

So what is this surprise that I kept from you all yesterday?

Eric still doesn’t know! Surprisingly, he didn’t pester me about it too much yesterday.

I want to take us Indoor Rockclimbing! I am super excited and also quite nervous! I hope we can go today (depending on how much progress I make with my baking), but if not we’ll go next week.

We’ve been saying for a long time that we’ve wanted to do it, so finally I decided to surprise him with it. We are doing a 2 hour intro session. I hope that it won’t be too much strain post-injury. I will have to see how it goes!

If you have done indoor rockclimbing (and I know some of you have!) drop me a comment and let me know how it is!

Untitled-51Day 15 (April 10th): Is your cardio routine the same day in and day out? That ends today! Mix up your cardio routine. Do something totally different. The body responds well to change! Also, do 3 wall sits. Hold each one for as long as you can. I LOVE wall sits. I can do them for about 1.5-2 minutes each. It burns, but I love it!

The view I had the other night while making dinner– just gorgeous!

Note: I am happy to report the snow is now melted thanks to yesterday’s warm temps!

Well, I am off to bake my little heart out! After that it is workout time.

See you this afternoon for the recap!

Hope you have a wonderful Good Friday!

I watched a movie with a friend last night until 1am, and by the end I was totally falling asleep! But I was trying to be polite and stay awake for him :)

Oh my! I’m so bad at indoor rockclimbing. I think I have an acute fear of heights, I always get really teary eyed halfway up…but I do know that it’s a very rewarding experience and I’m sure with Eric by your side it will be a blast!

Good luck baking today, can’t wait to see the results!!

I’ve been indoor and outdoor rock climbing. They are both so much fun! I find rockclimbing very empowering. I love to look down and see how far I’ve come. I don’t think it should be too much for your injury, outdoor would be, but indoor you don’t tend to have to stretch yourself as much to reach the next hold. Have a blast!!

Indoor climbing is great (though I should say, I’ve never been climbing outside, so a rock gym is all I have to go on)!

It’s an awesome workout, even if you don’t feel like you’re working out, and it’s a really neat thing to do with a significant other, too, seeing how much you rely on the person guiding the rope and protecting you.

Have fun!

Indoor rock climbing is really fun, I wish I could get my boyfriend would go with me!

Canada looks so pretty from all your pictures. I have to make my way up there for a vacation some time!

I did indoor rock climbing but that was way back in grade 7 when I went to leadership camp. I’m kind of afraid of heights but I went partway up the wall anyway! It was a lot of fun – definitely a neat experience!

That’s a really nice tea box! I need something like that but unfortunately I don’t usually buy tea that comes individually wrapped (I go to Bulk Barn to save $$) so a box probably wouldn’t work well for that.

Hi Angela, I had to comment because I just started indoor rockclimbing! It is a great activity for couples as you really need two people. My boyfriend and I went a couple of weeks ago with friends and have since taken an intro class and plan to go this weekend.
I think you’ll love it, it’s a lot of fun and is a great workout too.
I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about straining in the intro class. It probably won’t be too intense. The great thing is that climbing is low impact.
Good luck and please tell me how you like it!

Happy Friday Angela! Rock climbing sounds like fun- I used to do “rocks and ropes” in camp but always felt pretty dorky in the helmet/harness get-up. I tried the Yogi detox tea and its pretty gross- I felt better afterwards but it was definitley a struggle to finish it. I’d be interested to see what you think!

I absolutely love that Tea Box you gave me. I know it’s something i’m going to keep forever!

I especially love the goji berry green tea too! I’ve never tried it until now and it’s so good.

I WISH I liked tea. I keep trying to get myself to like it but just don’t. It just seems like there is nothing better then curling up on a couch with a book and a cup of tea! Oh well I’m going to keep trying :)

That sunset is gorgeous!! Rock-climbing is so much fun, your hikes can get technical now, haha. It was big to do it in Colorado w/o ropes and with a crash pad.

Yay, you’re going rockclimbing! I was nervous the first time I went because I can be scared of heights from time to time. But with Eric “belaying” you (you’ll learn what that is), you’ll be fine. Good luck and have fun!

Also, stick with 24. I was a little “iffy” about the first episode or two of this season, but it picks up!

My daughter had her birthday party last May at a rock climbing centre and loved it!!!

I’m gonna shake up my cardio with a bike ride today, me thinks!

Have fun baking!

Just to reiterate the other comments, rockclimbing is great – it’s a wonderful, challenging workout, a great couples activity, and very rewarding. You will use muscles you didn’t know existed. You get to use problem solving skills to figure out which holds you should use. Your hands will get dirty. Just remember that while men are good at pulling themselves up with their upper bodies, we women get to rely more on our powerful legs and core to propel us skyward. So your moves may have to be different than your hubby’s. It also takes practice, so don’t get frustrated. I haven’t climed in a while, but used to often (indoor and out). I miss it! You will have a blast! I love doing outdoor sports as a way to mix up workouts when I can. We went on a ski trip last weekend, and let me tell you, I must have burned thousands of calories – all while having a great time amidst beautiful scenery! There’s nothing better.

I love Yogi Detox tea!!! So yummy! I could easily drink 3-4 cups a day when I buy it. It tastes “earthy” to me.

yay rock climbing! i’m taking a study break to go this afternoon. i’ve been climbing for a year now (indoors and out). i love it. it is not something i ever expected to be good at, and i usually am pretty hard on myself when it comes to accomplishing things…but i can proudly say i’ve grown as a climber. achieving technical skill over relying on brute strenght is a feat in itself. i hope you love it. go rock the rock wall. “climb on!”

You’ll LOVE rock climbing! I’m the least coordinated person on earth and I have a great time whenever I get a chance to do it.

Love the tea box! You two will have a blast with climbing, a bunch of us graduating girls from the rowing team took lessons and started going once a week in attempts to find new sports to replace rowing… and we fell in love! Its such a good workout and you always have new challenges, be prepared to be a little sore the next day!
