Next up, on our Honeymoon tour: Athens, Greece!
Missed Stop 1? Venice
Fun facts about Athens:
- Athens is the largest city & capital of Greece
- It’s one of the world’s oldest cities
- Population: approximately 3,932,756
- First modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896
- Birthplace of many prominent writers, philosophers, politicians and scientists of the ancient world, including Sophocles, Socrates and Pericles.
And it’s smokin’ hot! ![]()
It reached a high of 38 degrees Celsius the day we were there. Eric and I were sweating buckets while climbing the Acropolis and Filopappos hill. We finally reached the top of the Acropolis and discovered there was no water to be found, just a lot of thirsty tourists! If you ever find yourself climbing this, bring more than 1 bottle of water… ;)
There are about 150,000 stray dogs living on the streets in Athens. I wanted to take all of them home…
After our climbs, we headed to the Plaka shopping area where there are a lot of tourist/market type shops and high end shopping too.

I would love to visit Athens! I would also love to try the chai tea.
My mom introduced me to tea when I was still in elementary school and I’ve been in love ever since! The aromas and tastes are all so different, it’s like visiting another world with each tea!
Those teas look sooooo good! I went to Greece last year. It was lovely. Your photos brought back a lot of memories.
Your photos are lovely! I’d be upset about all of the stray dogs, too. So sad.
I love tea and have just discovered rooibos. I’d love to try Feel Good Tea!
I Love your blog and your recipes:)
Love your honeymoon pics and I LOVE the tea flavors!!! I wanna win! :)
Athens looks gorgeous! It’s been my dream for awhile to take a girls trip to Greece for my 40th bday party (now just a little over 2 yrs away!). And I’m a tea junkie…so this sounds like the perfect giveaway!
I would so love to go to Europe, I have never traveled outside the US except for going to Canada, which I loved! Being from Buffalo, my parents would take us on trips to Ontario and Toronto. It was like going to a different world, a better world. Matter in fact, I had a dream that the US was being attacked, and I thought the safest place to go to was Canada. I wanted to go to Vancouver. I felt that was the safest place to live. I have never been to Vancouver, so I don’t know why I would dream of living there, but now it is on my Bucket List. I must visit before I die.
Have a great rest of the weekend, sorry for rambling on! :)
Vancouver is great, but bring an umbrella!
I love tea!
The tea is very pretty. Thank you for all your sharing.
Oh I’m so looking forward to our honeymoon (not yet planned and we’ve already been married 11 months!) so I’m living vicariously through other’s photos!
