I had a fun workout this morning despite my growing blister on my heel! Ugh, I am not sure what to do about this. I guess I will have to make another appointment with the podiatrist and make sure I can leave work on time. I have a feeling I will need to get orthotics custom made since my feet aren’t the same size!
Workout details:
I tried a ‘Speed‘ run today, courtesy of Caitlin from See Bride Run– thanks for the tips Caitlin! :D
It was fun too. I did the entire treadmill workout at incline 7 to make it extra challenging!
- 2 mins.Treadmill warm up 4.0, incline 15
- 23 mins. speed run all at incline 7! (I started at 6.0 mph, then increased to 7.0 for a couple mins. then back down to 5.5 or 6.0, then up to 7.5, walk a couple mins., then back up to 7.5 mph, etc)
- cool down walking a min. or two
- Then I did 15 mins on the elliptical at resistance 9 or 10 (this machine didn’t have an incline :(
- 24 flights of stairs
- Max heart rate (while running) was about 174 bpm
- Avg. heart rate 153 bpm
- Duration: 43:30 mins.
I feel reved up and ready to start the day! :D

Last night I cracked open the Turkish Delight that was given to us as a gift. I must say it doesn’t quite live up to its reputation! Now I know why people say that they aren’t sure why there is such a stir about this Turkish Delight….

To feed my body and soul I did an 80 minute Ashtanga yoga class this morning, and to feed my mind I am doing homework that is due in class tomorrow!
I just found your website last week (thanks to Model Behaviour) and I love it! First off it’s nice to see a Canadian blogger (finally someone understands why you can’t run outside in Feb) and your attitude is very refreshing compared to a lot of other blogs I use to read!
I find I always have to convert the mph to km/hr on a lot of blogs because the tredmills that I work out on always measure in km/hr and there is no “change units” button! It’s hard for me to know what you mean by ‘running 6mph’ unless I convert it! hah.
Do you hang on to the tredmill when walking at 15%? I feel like I am going to fall off at 12%! There was a girl beside me walking at 15% today and she was hanging on.. I almost told her she wasn’t getting as good of a workout whilst doing that (but how rude would I have looked? lol)!
I envy how in shape you are! I tried your 40 min. treadmill workout at 5.0 on a steep incline and it was HARD!!

Sorry to hear your first try of the Turkish Delight was so anticlimactic! What flavor is it? Is it the traditional rose water flavored? The rose flavored is the BEST! I love rose water flavored things.
I’m impressed by your dedication to work out every morning! I usually have to go after work, but that means that at least 2 nights a week I don’t go because I work well past dinner time. I tried to set the alarm clock and go this morning, but instead I turned it off and curled up to sleep with it! Oh well, I’ll try again tomorrow…

Today, I am doing community service in Philly to feed my soul.
I just ate lunch out at Cosi with a friend and fed my body.
I am feeding my mind with the Woman’s Organization Movie Premiere of “Disfigured”.

That is an amazing workout. I tried your 40 min. treadmill workout at 4.0 on a 15% incline and could not do it! I brought it down to 10% and didn’t last the whole 40 min. I usually run 4 to 5 miles 3 days a week with a long run (9ish miles) on the weekend so I thought this would be good for a rest day from running. It is too hard!
Haha, turkish delights are so gross! They had them all over in New Zealand and I got one the first day I was there…eww! They were like too think jelly, like wwaay to thick, jelly jello maybe? gross :D

Have you been to a good running store that films you while you run on the treadmill? If you find a good stability/motion control shoe, you may be able to correct your stride, so you have less rubbing.
