Giveaway Winners + Shepherd’s Stew, Mashed Potatoes, and Sticky Toffee Pudding

November 9, 2012

Happy Friday to you. It’s finally time to announce the giveaway winners!

1) Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser

I am so excited to let you know that we raised $10,073 for Hurricane Sandy relief. I am simply blown away. Thank you all for your generosity!

I created a spreadsheet with your entries and we had a total of 591 people entered for the draw. All contest winners today were selected using Random.org.

The winner of my Vegan/GF Foodie Box is #79 – Charlotte Cromwell! (Charlotte, I do not have your email so please email me press[at]ohsheglows[dot]com with your mailing addy – thanks!)

The winner of the Blendtec is #556 – Maria Vinson!

2) Blogiversary Blendtec Giveaway

Thank you for sharing your touching (and often hilarious!) “lessons to my younger self” comments. If you are ever feeling down and need a pick me up, just read through the comments. It’s amazing to see how many of us have struggled with the same life lessons.

The lucky winner of the Blendtec machine is #3659 – Alicia Woulfe!

Congrats, ladies! I will send out an email this morning to collect your mailing address. Thanks again to everyone who participated and to Blendtec for donating the two blenders.

If you’re looking for recipes today, well you aren’t out of luck. I’m sharing 3 holiday recipes over on VegNews today – Shepherd’s Stew, Mashed Potatoes (a new twist on my fav high-protein version), and my Sticky Toffee Pudding.

I made your sticky toffee pudding last winter with a few modifications. I wanted to post about it…. but it was so good we downed it before I could think to take pictures. Can’t wait to do it again this winter – it was one of my favorites last season.

Hi Angela! Just wanted to comment and say that it is so amazing that you raised over $10K for Hurricane Sandy victims. I was born and raised in NJ, and my family and best friends all still live there. I feel fortunate because no one I love was injured/killed during the storm, but some of their homes were seriously damaged. You probably heard that a few days ago a lot of the state suffered from a snow storm, which just adds to the chaos of trying to rebuild from the hurricane, especially for people whose houses are inhabitable at this point. My parents got 13 inches in their area with trees and power lines down everywhere. Some people who were without power for 10 days from the hurricane are now without power yet again. So, coming from a current San Diego resident who will always be a Jersey girl, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your efforts in helping to raise money for all of those suffering from the hurricane!! It was incredibly kind of you to host a giveaway in order to raise money to help.

Hi Nicole, Thanks for your comment! I heard about the snow storm on the news this week – what a major blow to an already serious situation, eh? It sounds like they need all the support they can right now. I’m glad to hear your family and friends were not injured. That must have been scary being so far away from them.

Angela, Thanks for organizing the fundraiser and the giveaway. Your blog has become a highlight in my day and I’ve made several of your recipes…most recently: Spiced Red Lentil, Tomato, Kale soup which survived less than 24 hours in my home. I scarfed the entire pot except one tiny bowl shared with a friend;)
