Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.

I would tell myself to always smile and stay positive….
I would probably tell my younger self not to be afraid of the scary and hard decisions! Some of the best things happen when you do things you’re afraid of and when you step outside of your comfort zone!! At least for me!
I tweeted!! woohoo!! :D
I would advise my 18-year-old self that it is not a good idea to pierce my belly button. No matter how cool I thought it was.
I also tweeted the giveaway!
I would tell myself to take advantage of every opportunity!
I would tell myself not to worry so much about having a boyfriend–just have fun.
I would tell my younger self that she was good enough, smart enough, and beautiful…everyday.
Advice to my younger self: develop my own talents and not focus so much on petty drama.
I would give my 16 year old self the advice of taking care of myself… At 16, being a young and free child, taking care of yourself is not usually number one on the list. I wish that I would have started eating better, and overall living the lifestyle I live now, back then. My 16 year old self was way too conserned about calories vs nutrition. I wish I would have taken time to research about the important of providing the body with essential vitamins and nutrients. Although I am a vegan now, for my 16 year old self I would give all the imformation I know now about health and wellness, so that I could have started living a healthy life sooner.
I would tell my younger self to live in the present, and not worry so much about the past or the future. Enjoy each day and every moment as they go by so quickly!
I would highly advise myself to not use gel in my bangs. Ah!
Lyndsey, go for a walk in the woods. Right now. See how beautiful everything is, how good nature feels and smells and looks. Go for a walk every day, then maybe start to run a little. Just a little. Every day.
See? Now you can eat all the spaghetti you want!
Oh man there would be so many things I would tell my younger self! The main piece of advice would be to make the most out of my days. Enjoy high school and college more, spend every day with good friends, do wild (but safe :) ) things, don’t stress too much about school. LIfe was so simple back then….I would remind myself this if I could!
Don’t leave the hard stuff for last. Get it done right away instead of wasting so much time thinking about/dreading it.
I would tell myself, trust your instincts, you are mostly right, but do your homework!
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
I would tell myself to not be so serious!!!
As you continue to grow up, things in life will never get any easier, so instead you must learn to become faster, stronger, smarter and ALWAYS have confidence within yourself to handle those tough times. :)
not to self: don’t sweat the small stuff!
