Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

I would tell myself to pay attention in class and plan for college!
I would advise myself to do my gen ed requirements at a community college instead of paying the big bucks for private school credits when it’s all pretty much the same and to then stick with my writing major. Thank you for the giveaway!
I would tell my younger self to:
1) Change her focus from inward and self perseverance to one that values EVERYTHING that surrounds her including what she cannot see or explain.
2) Find enjoyment in doing things for others and not to worry so much if there is not enough time for herself.
3) Trust in Christ and let fears and anxieties vanish. BE GREATFUL!!!
I pinned Sugar Pumpkin 101 on Pinterest!!
I would advise my younger self to constantly appreciate and make the most of the present for what it is instead of pining for how it could be better with all the “if only’s”. Life is too short and I have so much to be thankful for!! But a Blendtec would make it better ;)
to my younger self: you should have traveled more when you were young.
I would tell me 16 year old self to go long distance for track and that vegetables are not in fact toxic. Thanks for the giveaway! I also re pinned a recipe!
I’d tell myself to live a little more; I’ve always played it on the safe side. Also wish I spent more time asking my grandmother about her life and thoughts!
I would tell my younger self to trust my instincts and be true to myself.
I would tell my 16 year old self to start doing yoga. It is such a positive way to get to know your own body and mind.
I pinned one of your recipes!
I would like to have told my younger self to stay out of the sun instead of slathering on the baby oil and baking for another hour. Yikes it has taken it’s toll!!
I would tell my younger self to not sweat the small stuff and to learn to let go. After a while, letting things that you’ve held onto for years becomes increasingly harder and it would be best to just let it be sooner rather than later. Sometimes its just not worth it to fret, and you need to enjoy whats going on in the present, rather than the future!

Advice to my younger self: Don’t let the fear of failure get in the way of your dreams!
I would tell my younger self to always be yourself and don’t try to change to please other people. You only end up hurting yourself that way.
Mine is sad but I would tell myself to believe in a happy future. That it does get better. I would tell my younger self that I will turn into a great mom one day and break the cycle of abuse. That my 3 year old’s trusting hand in mine can heal wounds that are decades old. That it does get better. And to keep reading and reading and reading to escape because that is what will get you through this when the adults in your life fail you.
I tweeted the giveaway as well. :)
Don’t give up a healthy lifestyle because you can’t catch a football in gym class. Getting graded for your catching abilities is old school. Being fit is fun!
“Date lots of men and have lots of fun, but please, please, please don’t waste all of your energy trying to make a Mr. Wrong into a Mr. Right.”
