Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

roll on glitter is not a good make-up product. especially not on your eyelids.
Follow your instincts….listen to that guiding voice she just might be onto something!
Diana, don’t be afriad to try something new and fail! Making mistakes is important for your growth… Just take one step and your other foot will follow!

I would tell myself to not worry what other people think. Love life and enjoy every minute.
The advice that I would give..Let Go.. let bygones be bygones… you cannot change what has already happened.
live for the moment!!
This is for the giveaway:
My advice to my younger self is be true to who you are. TRUST yourself and that little voice inside of you and you can call him Jiminy Cricket if you want, but your conscience is truly your guide. Never lose trust in yourself. You are and will always be the best friend you ever had.
I would tell my younger self to keep being true to who you are, compromise for no one. There will be a place for you in this world, just the way you are. You can’t see it now, but it will come to you!
I would give my 16 year old self the advice to do things that make you feel good. Don’t let life stress you out so much. Enjoy the little things in life. Don’t worry so much about what others think. Eliminate the negativity from your life.
I tweeted about this giveaway :) Thanks!
To my younger naive self :
Don’t let Shirley talk you into getting that spiral perm – your hair will never be the same. Keep all your trendy clothes – it always comes back in fashion. Always travel when you have the opportunity – it will be years before you can do it again. Lastly, please don’t fall for that guy in the club who you think is totally hot – Worst. Mistake. Ever!
Love, your older and wiser self.
I would tell my younger self to not put so much pressure on myself and to just relax and enjoy being young!
I would tell my 16-yr-old self that the difficulties of the next 5 years will eventually feel like accomplishments and a source valuable wisdom when I’m 32 (eek, I’m now twice as old as 16!).
I tweeted the giveaway! Also, advice to a younger self: Eat as much baguette as you possibly can before you turn gluten-intolerant at age 25! But don’t worry too much because making your own dairy-free ice cream is pretty swell.
Thanks for all the inspirational recipes!
