Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.

This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!

Oh, I would love one of these blenders. The advice I would give my younger self is to “Eat Clean” as much as possible and yes, water is as important as your Mother said it was.”
Thanks for a great give away!
I would tell myself to spend more time with my grandparents and ask
them all the questions that I wish I knew the answers to now. I would also
tell myself that its ok to be me!
I would tell my younger self, follow your heart and trust your instincts. They never lead you down the wrong path.
Don’t be afraid of trying new things.
I already tweeted, but I would also like to leave a note to my 16 year old self saying that ignoring your problems doesn’t make them go away – deal with them and the sooner the better!
I’d tell myself to indulge in my passions and be stubborn about keeping them alive.
I pinned one of your great recipes!
I would tell myself to not let fear decide my fate. I’m just getting to the point in my life when I am swallowing my anxieties and going for what I want, and it’s even working! I just think of all the opportunities that I let pass by because I was too afraid to try.
Just tweeted the link!
I would look myself in the mirror and tell myself that what I ‘see’ is often not reality. Tell myself that I am beautiful and to love my body for all the things it does for me – the runs, the laughs, the hugs, the heart…..
To younger me “Love yourself and all that you are”
Eat more veggies!
I would tell myself to worry less and decide more.

I would tell my younger self, hey you!! You are totally not fat! So get over the tiny tummy bulge. And make sure you don’t change your eating habits when your boyfriend moves in, cuz now I can’t seem to lose the weight I gained! ;)
I would impress upon my younger self that it is important to have very high standards for herself and the life she’s hoping to create but to be mindful that the standard is not set so high that it becomes a barrier. Life is generally not an all or nothing prospect, and you can lose out on truly amazing things in your sight if you are looking past them to the illusion of perfection on the distant horizon.
You already listened to what Dan and Janice said, now to what they told you, they were right! Your life is awesome.
Hmm, one piece of advice I’d give myself is to give myself control of my food intake as soon as possible. Food can be an incredible struggle sometimes, not just for myself, but many people, I know!
I would tell myself to stop comparing myself to other people, and to smile more!
Tweeted about the giveaway as well :)
I would tell my 16 year old self that things won’t always be so easy. But that I am strong and able to handle anything.
