Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

I would tell my younger self to not get caught up in all the diets and pressures with food. To enjoy REAL food. I would tell her to not try one fad diet and embrace the body that the Lord gave you.
I would tell my younger self that beauty shines from the inside out, so relax, don’t take yourself too seriously, and enjoy being alive :)
I would tell myself to go easier on my boyfriend because that guy would turn out to be my husband. The most important person in my life. He’s been so amazing to me. I shouldn’t have made him work so hard for it!
I would tell myself not to go to / listen to / follow the advice of my mother’s hairstylist.
I would tell 16 year old me to go to sleep at night!! I was always staying up through the night, and then passing out when i got home from school. It totally set my anxiety on edge!
I would tell my younger self to make sure to have fun sometimes and not always work! Otherwise, one will leave high school and college with only memories of studying and not of the many other enjoyable aspects of life!
I would tell myself that things get better as you get older and to hang in there :)
I also just pinned your DELICIOUS red lentil curry squash stew- a new fav in my house!
I would tell my younger self to “pay yourself first!” Wish I realized tge importance of saving early and keeping an emergency fund in tact. You never know what unexpected expenses might come your way.

I would tell my 16 year old self that everything you are going through right now, won’t even matter in 3 years, let alone 11 years later! And tell her to stop trying so hard to be a people pleaser and just enjoy the young, carefree life! Ah the days of no job and no bills :)
Dont stress so much and enjoy more! Whatever happens, it will all be ok.

I would tell my 16 year old self to follow her dreams and always trust yourself…
My mother always said “you can always come to us”. While that doesn’t sound much like advise it really is. This made us think first before we acted, most of the time.
Jill, put down that Hawaiin Tropic oil. A tan does not make you beautiful. A tanning salon is bad, bad, BAD news!!! Years from now, you and your pale, wrinkle free skin will thank me!! Promise!! So ALL of your friends are deep golden brown and self tanners turn you the color of an Oompa Loompa – stay away!!!! I swear that pale will be the new tan!!!
I would tell my younger self to focus on cultivating positivity.
Congrats Angela!
cue the crowds shouting “FOUR MORE YEARS, FOUR MORE YEARS!” at least! ;)
