Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!
1) Blendtec Total Blender & Twister Jar
Blendtec has been gracious enough to donate one of their coveted Total Blender Classic Wildside machines (picture above) valued at $454.95 USD! Whoa baby. I’ve reviewed the Blendtec before on the blog and I can attest that it’s a great machine.
About the blender: “Total Blender Classic Series® is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milkshakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas, and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with one fast easy-to-use machine, at a fraction of the cost. This package includes the new precision tuned 4″ blade in the large nearly 3-quart total capacity BPA-free jar. The new large blade / large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease, and in less time.”
In addition to the blender, they are also giving away a Twister Jar (shown below) valued at $119.00 USD!
About the Twister Jar: “Blendtec’s newest innovation, the Twister Jar, is designed to blend your thickest recipes such as: Nut Butters, Hummus, Baby Food, Dips, Thick Shakes, Dressings and more! Best of all, it’s compatible with all Blendtec Home Blenders.”

I took life pretty seriously as a kid (still do somewhat) so I would tell myself to relax and have fun!!! That algebra test isn’t a big deal.
Younger self, you really just have to go with the flow.
Life is all about cycles, good and bad and when you are in a good cycle you really have to celebrate so you can look back when you’re in the midst of a rough patch.
Also as my grandma always said, things will be brighter in the morning.
Congrats on your baby turning 4, you should be really proud of this positive, inspiring space!
I pinned your On The Glow Basic Oatmeal Squares on pinterest.
I would tell younger self just how cool of a kid I was! When I look back to when I was 8 I think to myself, “who was that kickass girl!?” I was always running around enjoying life and I had quite the attitude ;)
I would tell myself to start juicing earlier, it makes a world of difference in the way you feel. No more afternoon slumps, better sleep, you seem to handle stress better, no more bloat, and when everyone else is getting sick you will glow!
Hey, I retweeted on Twitter about it. See user name: @migwickert
For the other part of the contest. I would tell my younger self to keep striving no matter how difficult a challenge, you can improve even if you don’t think it’s possible. Sometime, you’re gonna run into the brick wall repeatedly, don’t give up. :)
I would tell my younger self to make health more of a priority!
I Tweeted! My twitter handle is Sofaa
I’d tell her to relax and know that she doesn’t need to see the full picture to start right now.
I would tell her to trust herself.
tweeted and left a comment above. Crossing my fingers and toes!! :-)
I would tell my younger self to enjoy life and while it is nearly impossible to not stress about the past or the future, just remember that everyday is a new day, and we must live it as wisely and earnestly as we can. I also would tell myself to love my body because it is the only one I’ve got! :)
I would tell my younger self to spend as much time as I could soaking up my grandmother’s wisdom.
I think the best advice I could give my 16 year old self would be that there is life beyond high school! All the things that seem so life-shatteringly important won’t even matter a few years from now. Just take a deep breath and try to enjoy the ride. :)
I would tell my younger self to have more confidence in myself and not worry about little things b/c those little things will all work out eventually :)
Thanks for the giveaway- I love your blog, it has been my lifesaver since going vegan 5 months ago!
I would tell my younger self: To not be so DARN loyal to bad friends….Ditch the ones who bring you down, LOVE the ones who raised you up. It would have made high school a lot easier, focusing on my own issues than trying to solve those of my “toxic” friends.
Love the give away :) Happy Halloween!
i would tell my 16 year old sellf: not to be in such a rush to get to the grown up stuff. relax, enjoy and experience lots of different things while young & energetic!

I wish I could tell my younger self that when it comes to love, patience is key. When you meet the perfect someone (which you do!), you will be basked in more love than you could have ever imagined. The wait is worth it :o)
Tweeted before I left my comment!
I would tell my younger self not to be afraid of taking chances…to step outside of the box and be creative without boundaries.
Gosh, what I wouldn’t give for one of these benders! My poor $50 one just doesn’t cut it, and I’d love to get my hands on a super awesome Blendtec :) Thanks for the awesome blog, Angela! I love reading your posts each day – you inspire me so much!
