Happy Halloween!
Before I get to part 1 of the giveaway, I want to share a last-minute Halloween idea.
I present to you: Spooky Shakes…
They are more homely than scary, but let’s just go with it!
I spotted this on Martha and I thought it was a cute idea. To make: all you do is melt a tiny amount of chocolate (about 1-2 tbsp) and then paint chocolate ghost faces on the inside of the glass using the end of a popsicle stick. Easy.
Place the glasses in the freezer or fridge to set the chocolate. For the shake, I blended vegan vanilla ice cream (I love almond or coconut varieties), with a splash of almond milk and some ice, served with a cinnamon stick. You could even make a healthier shake by blending frozen bananas with almond milk. The chocolate faces stay intact thanks to the cold smoothies.
Now, for part 1 of the giveaway…
Today, I’m celebrating YOU – the kick-butt, Green Monster chuggin, recipe-lovin’ Oh She Glows community! On October 31, 2008, I started the blog on a complete whim, not thinking I would ever have the attention span to stick with it, but here I am 4 years later still smashing my head against the keyboard daily and chasing my dreams. I am so grateful for each and every one of you who read the blog each day and my hope is that you find as much inspiration here as I’ve found in all of you.
Now, to celebrate!

…”Go for it”…Words of wisdom to my younger self. Always go for “it”, no matter what “it” is…
I re-pinned the Quick and Easy Vegan Alfredo! My husband made it last week and it was delicious!
I would tell my younger self to worry less about making everyone else happy and do what’s right for me. Way too much time wasted on the wrong things.
Congrats on your blogaversary!
I would tell my younger self not to spend so much time in the sun sunbathing. Oh the wrinkles!!
GO for it…
I would tell myself not to be so hard on myself and not worry so much. Please, please give yourself a break.
Magen, there is so much more to come! Dump that fool and get ready for an amazing adventure in the big city!
I would go a lot easier on myself and really appreciate all the great things about me. It’s definitely too hard to be appreciative yourself during high school :)
I would tell my younger self to not be so shy. And to give vegetables and herbal tea a chance!
I tweeted!
advice to younger self: START WRITING NOW so you won’t suck so bad when you’re older. if this is what you want to do when you “grow up”, why not start now? also xoxoxo stop worrying about your thighs silly
2nd entry – i tweeted the contest https://twitter.com/_ginandjuice_/status/263804169071255553 thanks Angela for the giveaway :)
Also I put your twix bars on pinterest. I haven’t made them yet but I really want to!
I would tell 16-year old me, to love myself more and to learn to accept everything about me, not to be too hard on myself and to celebrate who I am, inside and out. I was SO hard on myself at that age and was always doubting who I was. I wish I could go back, tell myself to take some deep breaths and enjoy every moment of it, before it is gone.
My advice for my younger self is the same that I still need to tell myself (and don’t always listen to)….. YOU are the only one who can take care of yourself. Don’t rely on others to do it! Make sure you eat well, rest lots, work hard, and surround yourself with positive people who care about you.
To my younger self: Be honest with yourself and behave accordingly!
I would tell my younger self to be less concerned about making enough money. People who follow their true passion are the ones who are most successful.
