Just a quick note: This is not a sponsored post (as a reminder, I don’t do sponsored posts on OSG). I recently purchased this stroller and I want to share my review! I have no affiliation with B.O.B. (If B.O.B is reading, I would be happy to host a giveaway for my readers though!)
My Review of the BOB Revolution Pro Single Stroller
I finally took the plunge and bought the BOB Revolution Pro after testing out a ton of strollers over the past couple months. I love to walk every day in the spring and summer, so I wanted something to take “off-roading” on the trails. I also want a stroller that I can jog with now that Adriana is over 7 months old and the weather is getting nice! After a winter that felt super long, I’m ready to say buh-bye to the treadmill in our dingy basement and say hello to the glorious outdoors.
So far, I’m extremely happy with the B.O.B. Revolution Pro! The ride is incredibly smooth. You can even feel the suspension system in the handlebars just by pressing down on them – the stroller has some bounce! Or as Eric said, great shocks. It’s a dream to lift onto curbs (something our Peg Perego Book Plus stroller struggles with). I wasn’t sure whether to get the Pro version (which is the only version that has a hand break), but I’m glad I did because I feel the extra safety is worth it. If I’m going downhill I can lightly press on the break to provide more control.
It also has a parking break near the under basket that can be kicked to lock the stroller in place:
The first thing I noticed is how quiet this stroller is compared to our other one. Yes, even on the trails. It’s a serene, peaceful ride!
As you can see, the large seat is quite deep and it provides a lot of protection from the elements.
I’ve heard that some babies don’t like facing forward so I wasn’t sure how Adriana would like it, but she loves it so far. The first walk she slept for over an hour and the other times she has just chilled out while talking (“BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA” lol) to herself and enjoying the scenery. Hopefully this lasts! I love having a buddy on my runs!
The canopy has a few different positions to block the sun. Fully extended, it goes very low which is awesome if the sun is at a tricky angle and in baby’s face.
Here it is fully extended:
You can also reduce the fully extended canopy by 50% which is what I often do when it’s sunny.
Shorter canopy:
I also love the flap that rolls up on the top of the canopy revealing a “window” that I can peek down and see her.
OPEN:
CLOSED:
The front wheel can be locked in place for extra stability (“run mode”) or you can leave it unlocked (“walk mode”). Without a doubt, the stroller is easier to maneuver when the front wheel is unlocked, but they recommend you lock the front wheel for extra safety and control when jogging. It’s quite the workout I tell ya!!
The storage basket:
it’s not a huge amount of storage, but it’s decent. The basket just fits our fully stocked Skip Hop diaper bag (I have to jam it in) OR it’ll fit my purse and a couple smaller items.
There are two mesh pockets in the seat where I assume you can store a bottle, snacks, etc. On the back of the stroller (photo below right) there is a large mesh pocket where you can stash….a newspaper? tissue? food? Ok moms and dads, tell me what YOU put in this back pocket!
Eric’s take: He loves this stroller so much. His legs are too long for the Peg stroller (#talldudeprobs), but he doesn’t have this issue at all with the B.O.B. The handlebar also adjusts to 9 different positions which is awesome if you are tall and need a higher height, or conversely, if you are shorter and want it lower.
The main drawback is the size – 28 pounds (which is 5 pounds more than our Peg) and takes up its fair share of real estate, but I definitely wouldn’t say it’s unmanageable. I actually thought it would be a bit heavier than it feels. The stroller just fits into our sedan-sized trunk (photo above), with room to squeeze in a couple small bags. The front wheel can also come off for easier storage so that will save some space in the trunk too. As we all know, there are many strollers for different purposes, and given what the B.O.B. is intended for I think it’s a fair size and weight!
One thing that jumps out about the B.O.B. is the quality. You can really tell it has solid construction.
Closing it and opening it up took a few tries to get the hang of it, but it’s pretty easy now!
I purchased a couple accessories for this stroller. The first one is the handlebar console (above) which has room for two beverages and it has a zip pocket where I stash my keys, iPhone, etc. I’m really glad I got this accessory because I use it ALL the time. The other accessory I purchased is the rain shield. We haven’t used it yet, but I’m sure it will come in handy.
You know what would make me even happier? If the accessories were included with the stroller! Let’s be real; the BOB isn’t cheap and while I believe that you get what you pay for with this stroller, I do think it would be a nice touch if the company included some of the bells and whistles rather than making you pay for them separately. So whaddya think, BOB? =)
There is also a snack tray accessory that you can purchase. I didn’t buy it, but it might come in handy when she’s older.
All in all, I see the B.O.B. as being an investment piece, much like a Vitamix. Yes, it’ll run between $400-600 depending on whether you purchase it in the US or Canada, but you can also score gently used strollers on Craigslist or Kijiji. I also have friends who have sold their used B.O.B. strollers and recouped over half the price! They seem to hold their value very well. If you are in the US you can buy the B.O.B. Revolution Pro on Amazon.com for around $430.
Ok this turned out to be a massive review! I hope this is helpful for those of you who are on the fence about a B.O.B. much like I was.
In a future post, I’ll talk about jogging with the B.O.B. and how I’m finding it, what I’m doing, and tips I’ve learned.
Love love love our BOB! We have the regular revolution in orange, and we have used it for both of our children. Still looks and runs like new. If you want to save a tiny bit of money, don’t buy the snack tray. We got one on sale for about 20 dollars, and we hardly ever use it. And I never put anything in the mesh pocket in the back. The inside the stroller mesh pockets will be handy when she is a little older, for snacks and toys.
We actually bought out BOB revolution at the REI used gear sale. It was only missing a clip (the red one that secures it once it’s closed) so it was marked down to 140 dollars (US). We were in line at 5am at the REI used gear sale while I was pregnant and like you, I love the BOB so the early morning wake up call definitely paid off. All readers who live in the US – REI used gear sales always has a couple of BOBs and even some double ones! Just thought I’d share the tip!
We love our BOB. It’s such a smooth ride! We also have the double, which is kind of difficult to use in a highly urban setting due to size. We have the snack tray but it is useless! Our kids can’t reach it and the cup holder doesn’t hold a cup! Also, as a small person I can pick up the single stroller to put in the trunk but not the double. Only my husband can do that. Regardless, of all our strollers, the BOB is the best and actually quite affordable compared to the higher end strollers.
I can get cup holders for my BOB!? I’m buying that immediately, thanks!
I’ve had great experiences running hard and fast with the BOB. Ran a 24 minute 5K last year and looking forward to another one in early June.
First time I ran, I didn’t lock the wheel. Oops. Unlocked, it randomly spins out of control!
My only complaint – my 2.5 year old is reaching a height where it looks like the canopy will have to rest behind her head, which is a little annoying. I’m not sure if any of those parts come off.
LOVE our BOB revolution stroller. I did some serious research before we bought anything and we almost went with a Chariot, but I am so glad we didn’t. The BOB is perfect for both trails and city use, and with the car seat adapter we had our daughter in it from when she was about a week old. We live in Canada but went down to the States (REI) to buy ours which actually meant pretty big savings and some of the add-ons (ie. cup/change holder, and snack tray) were included. We ended up buying the sheepskin liner, the rainshield, and the car seat adapter – all of which are/were heavily used. I wanted to buy one stroller that did it all (instead of having to buy a few different strollers for different needs) and the BOB totally delivers. My husband and I STILL regularly talk about what an awesome stroller it is and our daughter is 14 months old now. So glad you are enjoyng it :)
Great review, thank you so much! I am getting mine tomorrow, and I think I will be one of the first in my country (Bulgaria) to own one. I am expecting my second baby any time now, but my first child is just 2y9m, so she’s still very much in a stroller. Hope to be using it for both baby and toddler. I love the tip about the cups accessory. I should get one too. Happy strolling!
Hey Angela! Great post on how much you love the B.O.B. I concur. We LOVE ours.
I have a snack tray if you’re still interested. Celine didn’t use it much so we ended up taking it off but it’s in great shape. Email me if you want it, it’s yours!
Hi Angel
I just read your post on the BOB. We got this stroller with our first daughter that is now four and now using with our second that is 4 months. I love it just wish storage was a bit bigger but i would take a great stroller over some storage space lol. I’m not sure if someone else has commented on this but I did notice in your post you talk about putting in and taking out of your trunk. I have a small vehicle with a small trunk and I remove the tires and you will also notice it’s lighter. Easy to take off and put back on.
Hope I g this small tip helps out
PS I love your blog and your cookbook
Thanks for the great review.
I had a question – I just bought this and was looking forward to taking my 8 month out for a jog in it today but then I read in the instructions that you can only run with it in Sport mode and that the baby must be 9 months to use it in Sport mode :(! I’m gutted to say the least as I was so looking forward to getting my jogging back on track! Reading your review it looks like you were using it for jogging ahead of 9 months; did you use it in the Sport mode or City swivel wheel mode?
