Angela: 0, Jack Frost: 1

November 19, 2008

It hurts to type this right now.

I had a horrible fall tonight!!!

My first mistake was wearing high heels on a day that I knew there was going to be snow.

My second mistake was running across the street in said heels, trying desperately to cross before an approaching car came.

As I was running, my heels slipped out underneath me and it was like I was watching it in slow motion. My head smashed on the pavement like nothing I have ever felt before. It was the worst fall I have ever experienced. I wish I could say it was only my ego that got bruised.

Three cars who witnessed my embarassment drove by and asked me if I was ok. I nodded my head, fighting tears, as I lay sprawled out on the pavement, in heels and a skirt, my hat lay 3 feet away from me buried in the snow. An approaching car almost ran over it. I sat there and gripped my head for a good minute before trying to get up. I wondered if my head was bleeding. I slumped over to my car and got my car scraper and scraped off the snow and ice from my car. Threw the scraper in the back. Got in. Put the wipers on to try and scrape away the ice on the windshield. Nope. Got back out. Scraped the windshield. Threw the scraper a bit harder into the back. Got back in. Slammed the door.

And cried.

This about sums up my fall. Oh and did I mention the drive home took me an hour and 10 mins. Apparently Canadians forget how to drive (and walk) in the snow.

So, my dear readers, I am alive and ok (but not dramatic). I am bruised everywhere. My head has a big ‘goose egg’ as Eric calls it, my ass bone has a bruise and bump, and my left arm has a huge bruise and bump (I thought a bone was sticking out of it on my drive home).

God forbid if this ever happens to me when I am 80! I am moving to Florida!!! Jenna will you shack me up?? lol. :P

As Eric said at dinner tonight, Angela: 0, Jack Frost: 1.

We burst out laughing.

And so that brings me to my dinner, which was comforting as any post-winter fall should be.

I had Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti :D

Please see this post for my slow cooker Spaghetti Sauce recipe.

Preparation: I took a medium sized Spaghetti Squash and and pierced holes in it with a knife (I do about 4 on each side). Cook for 6 mins. per side on high in microwave. Let stand for 5-10 minutes. Scoop out seeds, then run over the sides with a fork to pull out strands of squash.

Place squash on a plate and serve spaghetti sauce over it.

Serve with warm toasted bread and hummus.

And a tomato and cucumber salad.

And bring a kitty guest.

I also made cupcakes and ate a lot of cake batter and icing. It’s just been one of those days!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for a recap of the ‘Who Wore It Better’ fashion poll!
My votes were the following:
1) Ivanka
2) Anne
3) J-Lo
Results:
I must say I didn’t really love the first dress, I hated the second dress, and the last one I didn’t really love either. Celebs have so many wonderful gowns to choose from…I just don’t understand some of their choices at times! I guess a lot of it is to cause some media attention…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well, I am going to go finish icing my tailbone, arm, and head. Hopefully Eric will give me a nice rub tonight (on my non-bruised regions).

Angela: 0, Jack Frost: 1.

Oh man, luckily I have Eric to keep that smile on my face.

So tell me, did you have an embarassing moment this week?

Poor Angela! That fall sounds awful! If it makes you feel better, I have a terrible fall like that at least once every winter. You’d think I’d learn to walk on the slippery ice, but it’s so sneaky sometimes!

OH NO!!! Hope you feel much better now after that nasty fall – hang in there!!

On a brighter note, I’m LOVING that Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti meal!! And the appearance of the cat, off to the side, haha ;-)

Good night!!

I’m sorry about your fall! Glad you are a tough cookie – you are truly a dedicated blogger to post after such a crappy day!

As far as videos go – I love the workout videos, but I might love the Sketchie videos even more :)

I am sorry to hear about your fall! If it makes you feel any better, you have given me the gentle shove needed to start actually taking the stairs consistently. I do it at school and work, 8 and 4 flights, but not in my apartment, 29 flights very often. but your posts convinced me that its worth it, every time, especially as the cold will limit my everyday walking around the city! I am pretending I live in a 29 floor walk up. haha. Besides two minutes after I do it, I forget it ever happened.

So sorry about your fall. I know how you feel. I fall all the time over nothing. I don’t even have bad weather or heels to blame. Just fall. Last time I ripped both of my pant legs off at the knees. Really embarrassing and quite painful But now I know why – hypermobile ankles! Strangers don’t know that though so they still look at me like I’m just a regular klutz. I hope you heal fast and well!

Angela, I found you blog when you commented on Kath’s blog and agreed with me the other day haha. Adorable blog all my fav things and I think its hilarious that your cat is named sketchie.

I’m a total clutz and tend to trip and fall quite often. I slipped on ice last year and the same thing happened to me. My most embarassing moment recently (not this week) my zipper broke in my dress at work. Like the total back of the dress was a zipper and it just popped open. I dashed to the bathroom and had to sit there and wait until I was rescued by my coworker who found safety pins and a jacket for me to cover up with.

Oh no!! I hope you’re not hurting too bad this morning! I would have lost it and cried right then and there.

I agree with the dresses, I wasn’t a fan of any of them. I know I would be taking advantage of all the designer connections if I were famous!!

Your dinner looks delish btw!

Oh my goodness! I’m glad you didn’t break any bones! Take lots of pain relievers today, I’m sure those bruises will be painful.

If it makes you feel any better, I made your pumpkin apple streusel muffins last night and ate plenty of batter PLUS several mini muffins. :) They were delicious! I used organic cinnamon apple sauce instead of oil and they were great! I also made them into mini muffins since they’re for our office Thanksgiving Potluck today – and I don’t think anyone needs a giant muffin in addition to the every thing else!

I will get back to you on the embarassing moment – I have to choose which one to tell!

I can’t wait to try the spaghetti squash!

Falling on the ice is the worst, but you really are lucky, you could have cracked your head open! Sorry you cried. :(

cute title, bummer of a fall :( umm, on my first run in boston i fell and got a nice gash on my knee… a few days later i was walking home at night, went to walk around a tree to avoid people in the sidewalk and apparently didn’t see the low hanging branch… ouch!

ps- i gave you an award, check out my latest post! :) hopefully that’ll help make you feel better!

Oh dear! Ouchies! I broke my tailbone once and that HURTS! I’m so sorry you fell!

Well, just this morning at the gym, I was on the treadmill doing a quick walking warm up before my run, and I stepped off to turn the fan on and I left the treadmill going at 3.5 mph and when I came back to it I forgot I left it on!!!! I didn’t fall but I sure looked like a dork trying to gain speed and not face plant on a moving conveyor belt! But I do lots of embarrassing things like that!
