An Inflated Ego

November 12, 2008

I have an extra bounce in my step this morning, I will admit. I think my head is going to explode because my ego is huge right now. haha. Ok, I am embellishing, but humour my walk to work this morning, will you?

Let me preface this a bit for you. The part of the city that I work in is an Italian area….lots of Italian men everywhere. If you have been to Italy, you know how they are. ;) Anyways, after setting off my panic alarm on my car while I was exiting it, embarassingly, I fumbled with my bag, tea mug, and keys to turn it off. As I got out of my car there were two Italian men starring at me, and one of them says, loudly, “Oh my God, she is beautiful…she looks like she is from Poland” (wtf?)…I kept walking and smiled to myself. They got in their car and as they drove by, one sticks his head out the window and says, “You are gorgeous…(I think I laughed) awww there’s that smile….you just made my day beautiful. Can I take your picture?” I laughed and said no!!! Good grief. Those Italian men are aggressive! Creepy! I felt like saying to him, you made my day because I was feeling anything but beautiful when I woke up this morning with my red, allergic-reaction, puffy eyes and red itchy lips.

What compliments have you received that stick out in your mind?

My workout this morning was really good! I finally felt fine enough to do my Interval workout on the treadmill. I alternate about 3-5 mins. of walking, with short bursts of high intensity running for about 40-60 seconds (@ incline 15- this is HARD).

  • 40 mins. Interval on treadmill, incline 15, speed 4.0 mph
  • 25 crunches on stability ball (my abs are sore today!)
  • 20 arm raises with 15 lb. dumbbells
  • 24 flights of stairs
  • The treadmill says I covered 2.9 miles and burned 460ish calories (but who really knows if that is accurate). I would guess it was closer to 400. I want to purchase a heart rate monitor soon! My old Polar monitor broke :(

You know how yesterday I said that I was disappointed with my new Cover Girl GC Smoothers Compact Powder? It is chalky and dusty! It gets everywhere! What the heck?!

LOOK!!!

What is your favourite Compact Powder?

See you this afternoon for my Reese’s Pieces Cookies post! :D

I think my favorite part of your blog is the daily quote section. Some compliments I’ve received are “she’s the little hottie that got away” and “you’re pretty AND smart – you don’t find that often”. Tee hee hee……..I’m blushing!!

There was the time I went to Miami with my then boyfriend and we went to a Domino Park.. there were a bunch of old Cuban and Dominican guys there and they all wanted to take their picture with me, they said I had eyes like the ocean and was the most beautiful girl they had ever seen.. told my ex that he should marry me and not let me get away.

I was giddy for like a week after.. (even it was by old men.. it was still so sweet!!!!)

Best compliment came from my best friend Nick, we have been friends since elementary school and once he told me that I am who he compares all his dates too, because to him, I am the perfect female :) Even though our relationship is and always will be 100% platonic, it was still the most amazing compliment I’ve ever recieved!!!

Someone recently told me I reminded them of Wonder Woman! Not because I am superhuman, but because he thought I looked like Linda Carter!

I am very much anticipating the Reese’s Pieces Cookies post! Very intriguing!

My favorite compliment is when I was picking up an order at a Greek restaurant, and as I was leaving, the person who had waited on me said, ‘You know something? You’re beautiful.” I was just walking on air for the rest of the day!

Also, I just got a heart rate monitor last month (Polar F4), and I don’t know what I ever did without it! I love it! The only thing is that the watch part itself is a little cheap, and you have to push the button really hard to get it to start or stop. You think that for that price it would be higher quality!

I’m glad you had such a nice compliment in your day! They can really lift you up :)
