I never thought I’d say this, but I’m in the final days of finishing my cookbook manuscript and handing it in to my editor. After 15 months of testing recipes, writing, and shooting photography, I finally feel like things are coming together. Very, very slowly, mind you. I’ve shot about 50 recipe photographs so far, but that means I still have at least 50 recipes to remake and photograph. gulp, gulp, gulp. I’ve heard the editing process is pretty brutal, so I’m just taking it one day at a time and not looking too far ahead. The journey of getting my recipes to a place where I’m happy (and all my recipe testers) has taken much longer than I anticipated, but I didn’t want to rush the process. Quality over quantity, I say. If this is the only cookbook I ever write, I want it to be something I’m proud of. And seriously, it might be the only cookbook I ever write!
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say hello! I might not be able to post as much as I’d like to over the next couple weeks, but just know that I’m thinking of you always and looking forward to sharing some recipe inspiration as soon as I can. Right now, every creative cell in my body seems to be on hiatus, but it will recharge soon enough. Isn’t that what red wine is for??

As someone who has grown to love recipe creation, this book is a resource tool that I turn to when I’m looking for a nudge in the right direction. I have a huge amount of admiration with how you are sharing your struggles with the world. Your perseverance and belief is something truly inspiring and gives hope to those who are finding it hard to se the strength in themselves. Through your pain comes a truly spiritual and unique individual. Someone who is loving to themselves and others. Your soul shines through your images and words. Respecting and nourishing your body and allowing yourself to truly be happy. I am reading ‘Laugh with Health’ by Manfred Urs Koch. I wasn’t allowing myself the happiness i deserved and from that came not looking after my health. This book is teaching me about whole nutritious food that can finally make me laugh, instead of feel tired ashamed and angry every time i eat. I’m currently reading Main Street Vegan. I’m not vegan, but I want to make that switch so I’m learning all I can about it! I want to live a liberated dietary lifestyle (and I mean liberated from the constant sickly feeling of consuming animal products) so having some Vegan cookbooks would be wonderful!

I just finished reading Admission bu Jean Hanff Korelitz. It was recently a movie with Tina Fey and Paul Rudd (which I haven’t seen). The book is wonderful. Highly recommended.

I’m a 20 year old UNLV student who loves you’r blog. You have fantastic photos and excellent content. I found your blog just looking for recipes via google. Now I check in every week. I know I’m past the book give-away but still I’m proud I’m reading something right now! I don’t read quickly or like to read so this is out of the norm. “Science fiction short stories” from Isaac Asimov is what I am reading now. It’s not informative or making me a better person but I’m reading something and getting better at that.

I am currently reading Shards and Ashes – a collection of short stories set in various visions of a dystopian future. Sounds depressing and bleak but wow!! I normally hate short stories however these are fabulous and I have no doubt there will be several new writers on my book shelf,
Believe it or not, the chef at Garden Kitchen uses The Flavor Bible for recipes. I’d love my own copy, along with the other books so I can make better meals at home!
