Oops-keebobs!

May 24, 2009

I was a bad, bad food blogger tonight!

I totally forgot to take some pictures of all the wonderful food before it was eaten.

Oops-keebob!!!!! lol.

I have just a couple pictures, so you will have to forgive me!

The table setting- complete with mismatched placemats AND chairs!

 IMG_2026

You know, some of the most fabulous dinner’s I have been to were at houses with mismatched table settings! It adds some character! :) I think it will be a long time before Eric and I have a complete set of anything!

We do need to get some plastic plates and cutlery though for the younger ones! I didn’t think of this until this afternoon when I was setting the table.

I created the centerpiece using a wedding gift vase from my brother in law, Steve:

I like simple floral arrangements! I think I am going to break up my flowers more often.

The rest:

Still holding up strong! 8 days and counting!

The only dinner picture! Again, my apologizes…I was just too excited about all the glorious FOOD!

My Aunt Jenn, Uncle Wayne, and myself. Not shown are my two cousins and Eric.

Look at the glorious evening in the background! The weather has been so lovely! We spent the better part of the visit outdoors in the backyard.

Eric did all the BBQ’ing and it was fabulous!

I had:

  • 1 Money’s veggie burger + PC flatbread bun
  • 2 veggie kabobs
  • 2 pieces of multigrain baguette
  • A large serving of my spinach + orange + walnut + poppyseed dressing salad

It was a fabulous light and summery dinner!

We also enjoyed the fruit kabobs for dessert (I had 3 fruit kabobs):

Yum! I feel just right now, not too full which is always nice after a family dinner!

fitness I squeezed in an intense cardio session before I showered and got ready today! I was planning on skipping it today, but I knew I would feel better if I worked out.

I told myself the oldest trick in the books- that I could stop after 5 minutes if I wanted to! hahaha…I still trick myself every time! I can’t believe it still works!

Then I said, I can stop after 10 minutes, then after 1 mile, then after 30 minutes. And before I knew it I had done a super intense 35 minutes walking at incline 15%. It was a tough workout and I wanted to stop many times, but I kept telling myself  ‘ok just one more lap’ and whatnot. This trick always seems to work for me.

The workout:

  • Duration: 39 minutes (it was actually 35 on the treadmill, but I included quick breaks for water)
  • Speed: 4.0 mph, incline 15%
  • Max heart rate: 168 bpm
  • Avg heart rate: 151 bpm

My heart was pumping hard and I was really short of breath! I just kept telling myself that it was a quick workout and I would be done soon. Boy, was I glad to shower!

I also wanted to share with all of you a ‘feel good’ song that I think has a really great message in it! I was going to post it last week during our hot topic discussions, but I thought many of you wouldn’t be able to watch it while at work and then I forgot to post it at night.

It is called ‘That I would Be Good’ by Alanis Morissette.

I remember when I first heard it years ago I played it over and over and over and learned all the lyrics!

“That I Would Be Good”
that I would be good even if I did nothing
that I would be good even if I got the thumbs down
that I would be good if I got and stayed sick
that I would be good even if I gained ten pounds
that I would be fine even if I went bankrupt
that I would be good if I lost my hair and my youth
that I would be great if I was no longer queen
that I would be grand if I was not all knowing
that I would be loved even when I numb myself
that I would be good even when I am overwhelmed
that I would be loved even when I was fuming
that I would be good even if I was clingy
that I would be good even if I lost sanity
that I would be good
whether with or without you

Such a great message!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend (and hopefully a LONG weekend at that!).

Thanks for voting for your favourite post of the week. It looks like my “Hot Topic: How to stop comparing ourselves to other women” was a clear winner! There are going to be lots more hot topic posts coming up this week so stay tuned!
