Umm excuse me, last time I checked it was SPRING!!!
Ew.
Monday Madness, indeed! :(
Hopefully it will melt as fast as it came!!
Now onto bigger and better things…another contest!
Chocolate and more chocolate.
What could be better?
Did anyone guess that 5 delicious Jocolat bars were part of the contest giveaway?
Sneaky, aren’t I? :)
Because I have been so strangely lucky winning contests lately, I decided I would share the wealth!
Also…I am giving away 2 of my delicious Chocolate Banana Glo Bars:
YUM!!!
How to Enter:
Note. Both items need to be completed in order for you to participate. If you don’t have a blog you can skip #2.
1) Leave a comment below with an idea of how I can fundraise for my first running race this summer. The idea should likely involve Oh She Glows and/or Glo Bakery in some way for advertising and spreading the word. Think about the idea’s effectiveness in terms of how creative/original it is, what would motivate people to participate or what their incentive would be, and how the word would be spread, online and offline. Please note that I am fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society.
2) Link back to this contest in a post on your blog (if applicable).
Contest ends: April 12, 2009 at 8pm EST.
Winner: All entries will be verified to ensure that the two steps above have been completed. Once this is verified, I will narrow down the ideas to 5 and then all of you will VOTE on the winner who has the best idea for a fundraising campaign.
The winner will receive 5 delicious Jocolat bars as well as 2 Chocolate Banana Glo Bars!!
Get your thinking caps on! :) And good luck.
Day 11 (April 6th): Is there something in your diet of late that has been dragging you down? Too much caffeine, not enough veggies, too much sodium, or too many processed/artificial foods? Do you best today to reduce or cut out the diet downer. Tomorrow morning, see how it makes you feel. Did you notice a difference in just one day?
Also, do 3 sets of tricep dips for as many reps as you can do!
See you this afternoon! Have a great Monday everyone. :)
PS- Our power is going out from the snow storm!!! yikes!

you could make a glo tee shirt you are going to run in and then get different companies to sponser you and have their logo on the back. if your friends are running with you have them buy a tee shirt!
(I may or may not have posted this twice…)
You could do a service auction where you and other bloggers offer up some things that you’re good at! The could include cooking/baking lessons, fitness or beauty consultations, nutritional advice, meal planning tips etc. They could be auctioned up to the highest bidder and those that are local could provide in person and if not it could be over the phone or via email.
I linked to your giveaway on my blog :)
how about a virtual OSG RACE? bloggers and readers can sign up to run the “OH SHE GLOWS 10K” (or whatever the distance may be) and then run it in their own hometowns. prizes (of glo bakery products or oh she glows apparel) would go to fastest runners in each of several categories (age groups? or blog types :) ?) and also to the best 3 race reports, which would then be featured on your page.
i think people would be motivated to enter, because:
a) it would be fun!
b) it’s all for a good cause
c) the prizes would be exciting
d) getting to be highlighted on your page would be great publicity
good luck with the fundraising, and i hope you like my idea!
(alternatively: the race could be a yoga-thon, given that you love that as well :) )
ps: a link to your contest is now up on my sidebar
Hi Angela!
I have a two ideas. First, I think you should post cancer statistics on your blog to help raise awareness. I think some people would be surprised by how many people are affected–I sure was! There are lots of statistics posted on the Canadian Cancer Societies website, such as 1,419 Canadians die of cancer every week.
Next, I think you should make t-shirts that have the names of people who have died from cancer or who have survived cancer. The shirt would also have your Oh She Glows blog and Glo Bakery logos on it. You could get people to pay a fee to get a name of a loved (or their own name) on the t-shirt. The fee would also include getting one of the t-shirts and a few Glo Bakery cookies in the shape and colors of the Canadian Cancer Societies symbol flower.
I hope you like my ideas!
What a fantastic giveaway, Angela! My best idea is a bake sale through Glo Bakery! Or a drawing ($5 per ticket) for a basket of goodies!
A bake sale would be perfect!! Your creations are drool inducing, I’m sure you can raise a lot of money that way.
I like the idea of doing an online bake-sale or auction. You could do a parallel raffle in the community in order to get the word out about your bakery.
our school’s rugby team got lululemon luon headbands with the school name stitched on the headband. you can get luon headbands with OSG monogrammed on them beside the lulu logo. since the headbands regularly retail for 9$, the school fundraiser sold them for $15.
good luck!
I love the idea of sponsoring a virtual race! People would pay a normal entry fee and maybe purchase a special advance race packet with Oh She Glows goodies.
I think you should host a little tea party with your bakery goods and have people buy tickets for the cause, donate money, and maybe hold a raffle.
That’s my bit! I linked back to this post on my blog by the way.
Good luck!
I recommend setting up a separate link on both your blog and bake site with information about the race and the CCS, but make the link one that can accept donations, so that you can get pledges that way.
One thing that I would really appreciate you doing, is to set up a training page that tracks how you are preparing for the race. I am sure that many people would be interested, especially me. I ran my first 5K last year, but then became pregnant, and am now trying to get back into running now that my daughter is here, but is is so hard! I keep track of your workouts, and am trying to get to the point where I can do them, but I would love to see how you are training so that I can soon start training as well to run more races. I’d love to do a 10K and eventually a half marathon. You could even create a “training” link so that readers can train with you, and offer pieces of advice/motivation to keep going, gain speed, etc.
Anyway, good luck, and I’d love to try a jocolat and your bars!
I really think you should sell t-shirts or some clothing item to advertise Oh She Glows! Part of the proceeds will go to your cause!
Create an “Oh She Glows Bundle” full of all the favorite items regularly seen on this blog, and hold a raffle for it, with tickets given for certain donation amounts. Ask Humm foods to donate a free larabar to everyone who donates, too.
how about a sponsor me section with a scrolling log of donators so they can see their name listed on the site.
create a special race/training-theme with a higher cost so the profits go toward the race?
oops i meant “special race-training theme recipe” !
I think you should host a summer cookie tour! People buy tickets for the tour and on a specified day they go to participating businesses around your town and sample a product from Glo Bakery there (that you provided the businesses with).
The businesses will want to participate because they get free advertising and you could possible offer a raffle for everyone who buys tickets to win a gift basket of Glo Bakery items.
You would have to post flyers around your town to promote the event where you would list all the participating businesses and links to your Glo Bakery website and this blog.
This is more of a local fundraiser but I think it would be fun and get your community involved!
You could auction of Glo Bars and other Glo Bakery goods (for a higher price than normal so you can earn extra). You could also hold a Glo bakery sampling party and make a cost for entry and people could try your Glo Bakery products. For publicity, you could make flyers and hang them around town to advertise and also include a URL for your blog (maybe make a special page). Good Luck! And thanks for the giveaway too!
Hi Angela! You could sell Oh She Glows t-shirts (with a daffodil to represent your cause) and hold a contest giveaway for the first 3 people from each state/province to take a picture wearing your shirt in an organized walk or run in their state. It would be a fun way to see how widespread your fanbase is!
i think you could hold a bake sale for your baked goods. that way you can get your blog and business across!
