I have been meaning to do a beauty product review on my favourite St Ives products for a while now. Not only are they my go-to products for exfoliation, they are high in my books because they do not test on animals.
So yesterday when I was in Shoppers drugmart, I was delighted to find that St. Ives products were on sale! Sometimes the stars just align.
I normally purchase the St. Ives Gentle Scrub in the size of the container on the left, however I noticed that the larger tub on the right was on sale for the same price ($4.49 CAD)! The tub has twice as much (300 ml vs 150 ml) so it was a great buy.
I also tried the Apricot Cleanser for oily and blemish prone skin. I had never tried this one before and since it too was on sale ($4.49 CAD), I was feeling a little frisky.
Much to my delight, I loved the Apricot Cleanser (shown below). I loved it so much that I squealed at Eric when he came into the room.
I said, “I can’t believe I have never discovered this cleanser before, it is PERFECT!!!” Then I started rambling on about the sale prices and his eyes went all sorts of glazed. Luckily, I have Oh She Glows. This blog has saved Eric many a painful beauty story.
The best things about this cleanser are the tiny pink exfoliation beads. They aren’t the scratchy kind that are made from nut shells. They are a soft man-made bead that is smooth to the touch and is gentle enough for daily use. It was a creamy delight on my skin and quite easy to wash off. I also loved that it didn’t leave my skin tight feeling after drying off.
Oh She Glows Rating: 5 stars! No, it’s off the charts really. :)
And now for the Apricot Scrub that I have used countless times:
This scrub is great because it can be used on the face or the body. It ‘removes dull, dead skin cells to instantly reveal healthy looking skin.’
Who wouldn’t want that?
The key to this scrub is to use a gentle touch. Your goal is not to scrub the top 3 layers of skin off, but to gently rub away any flakes or dead cells.
I like to use this once every couple days. Generally, what I have read says to only exfoliate once a week but I have always done it more than that and I swear it is partly the reason for glowing skin.
Well, Sketchie and I are going to do some yoga after we make green monsters.
Look at that form! He’s really good with his leg extensions!
See you this afternoon for:
- A tea and antioxidant-inflused smoothie (just when you thought it couldn’t get greener!)
- My workout (see the BBBC Challenge for today here)
- Fun pictures
- The course manual that I am studying
Today’s question: What is your skin care routine like? What products do you use?
I love St.Ives Apricot Scrub. I use it on my face daily! Every since I have, my skin has been smooth as buttah =)
Love St. Ive’s too; and Sketchie :-)
I use the following product brand:

AWW!! Sketchie!!
I used to use st. ives, but then my friend got me hooked on this brand, Arbonne. It’s THE BEST stuff I’ve ever used!
ha…my husband gets that glazed look a lot, too :)
I love that apricot scrub, too! I keep it in my shower at all times.
Don’t you just LOVE cats?! My husband turned me into a cat person when we met….I’d always liked them, just really loved dogs….but now cats are right up there, too! Their personalities are so unique. Sketchie is adorable!
Sketchie is such a cool looking kitty. Love his markings!
Interesting to know that St Ives doesn’t test on animals. I always assume that the lower priced drug store products do…I don’t know why…just misinformed I guess. I’ve been looking for a new reasonably priced cleanser so I will definitely check into that…I haven’t used St Ives since I was a teen. Thank you.
I’ve been using St. Ives scrub for years and LOVE it!!! I actually use it in the shower every morning on my face and my upper arms!
I adore the blemishes and blackheads scrub, that and Noxema Triple action antibacterial cleanser
Oh, and the scrub’s regular price at Loblaws is 3.99…
Aww Sketchie is so cute!
I also use St. Ives Apricot Scrub, and I use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil face wash. I tend to use them on alternating days, although I’ve been using the tea tree oil stuff less lately since I’m finding I don’t break out as much anymore (yay!). I’m still planning on keeping it around to use at the first signs of pimples – it’s proven pretty effective at keeping my skin clear for the past couple years.
I love that apricot scrub too! It smells great! I’ve been using it to prep my skin for our wedding.
How cute is your cat? AW!
I used Murad for some things – moisturizer and SPF. But I LOVE Neutrogena for everything else!
I use plain Dove products, as my skin is super sensitive. Love that Sketchie photo!
Awesome pic of Sketchie! I’ve used spectro gel for years. I like that it doesn’t foam.
I recently switched to Vichy products. A little more than I used to pay. . . but they last a very long time. I particularly like the Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care and Normaderm Deep Cleansing Gel.
I use Cetaphil on my makeup-free face in the morning and then use Neutrogena Acne Wash at night. I have also fallen in LOVE with Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion! It really exfoliates when I need it most and leaves my skin fresh and radiant.
hi angela,
i would love it if at some point you did a post about your beautifying routine – you always have perfect skin/hair/smile & seeing this review reminded me that you do need to go that extra little bit to achieve the best glow possible. i’ve always wanted to be that well-pampered woman who can be bothered to exfoliate/moisturise regularly, but unfortunately i tend to take good care of my face skin and get too lazy and leave my poor body behind! i don’t have major problems with my skin, but i would love to know what your daily/weekly regular routine is!
I love Eminence products. They have NO artificial ingredients and I can pronouce/know what everything is.
My routine in the morning is to wash my face, use my Clarisonic Skin Brush, and moisterize. Then my night routine is remove my eyemakeup, witch hazel to remove my face makeup, and the same steps as in the morning. It’s been working great so far!
I recently read an article about how those little synthetic exfoliating beads are really bad for the environment (and ultimately animals living in the oceans):

I use the St. Ive’s Apricot Cleanser too. Good stuff!
