When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Have heard so many amazing compliments for Mama Pea and her blog. Just subscribed and would be thrilled to read what this amazing woman has created. First heard of Mama Pea in
reference to baked goods she donated to an online Bake Sale for charity. Think her submission got the highest bid. Mama Pea is moving forward and doing it right. Congratulations, Mama Pea ! Would be so happy to receive a copy of her book. : )
I’d love a copy, looks like a great book!
I love love love peas and thank you!
Since the winnr will probably be chosen by the random drawing generator or something, I am just going to put it out there that if I do by some highly unlikely hance win, it is a sign to work even more on my ED. I’ll still work hard at overcoming it either way, but new foods has been a big issue lately, and winning a cookbook filled with healthy, vegan, NEW foods would definitely be a loud and clear sign to try new foods.
I’d love to win a copy of the book. Mama Pea is truly my hero!
I love her zucchini quinoa lasagna! so yummy!
this looks fantastic, can’t wait to try out some of the recipes!
I am on the prowl for cookbooks just Like Peas and Thank You, but there isn’t many of them out there! I would to win this one. My son is 15 months and living in a home where your mommy is vegan and also anal about what he eats causes stress on the cooking world in our home. I mainly have to search lovely blogs for recipes!
My daughter said this book should be fantastic and would love a copy.
I”m a community/public health nutritionist that works for a non profit… always looking for simple healthy vegan recipes and I have loved searching your collection lately! I will admit, the cookies I baked last weekend weren’t quite sweet enough for most (small steps are what we celebrate in my world and most people around us are used to WAY too much sugar). But, i Loved them! Would love a copy of this cookbook if it’s still up for grabs.
What cookies were they? Just curious :)
As a rookie (working towards complete) vegan, I would love to be blessed with a copy of this cookbook. I have tried some of the recipes listed on your site – they are amazingly wonderful. My husband, an anti-vegan loved them…asked for seconds and leftovers for lunch the next day. This cookbook I feel would help with that transformation and lifestyle change. Many Thanks :-)
I have been looking for a way to incorporate meatless meals, and what better way then with recipes you know you can trust!
While he wants to eat healthier, my boyfriend is skeptical about meatless meals. The recipes in this book should help convince him there are fantastic ways to enjoy food without meat.
Oh I would LOVE that cookbook! Mama Pea is awesome :). I’m not vegetarian, but I do really enjooy vegetarian meals and I want to try a bunch of her recipes while I’m learning what the heck to do in the kitchen!
I love Mama Pea, and I’d love to win a Pea Pack!
I have 2 kids and one is a very picky eater. I am a vegan so I try to make meals EVERYONE can enjoy! That’s why I love Mama Pea’s site and would really love to have her new cookbook! Her recipe for Chick Pea tacos is so amazing that my husband – the ultimate omnivore actually said he prefers them to meat!!!
Mama Pea is an amazing and talented women! She is so funny, and tells the best stories! I have been wanting to buy her book, but haven’t yet. I can only imagine how incredible it is!
Ahh love Mama Pea :) and love that she can share all of her healthy habits with each member of her family!
