When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

I would love to get this cookbook and find out what the secret guacamole ingredient is! I wish I could scoop a bite right out of my computer screen as I sit here in this frosty office at 9 in the morning!
P.S. This blog is my favorite place on the web. I’ve turned SO many friends onto it and your Green Monsters. Angela, you are TRULY an inspiration!

I am new to Mama Pea’s blog, but I’m already enamored with the recipes! I would love to win this cookbook :)
Thank you for the giveaway. The whole package looks fun. I am trying to get my family on the right eating track (my husband and I have yo-yo waist lines and my 2 year old deserves healthy parents). I was lead to your website just a few days ago and I am very inspired. Thank you so much for speaking out and helping others.
That Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad looks amazing! I would love to win that cookbook…..
Looks like a great cookbook!
I LOVE Mama Pea! I have told her that I probably would have starved to death or given up being veggie if it were for her recipes. She’s awesome!!
And so are you, for that matter! Veggie blogs are amazing. :)
I would love this book! The recipes look so yummy!
I adore her blog, and, being a vegetarian, I would LOVE to own this cookbook!
Wow that salad looks as colorful as her wonderful looking recipe book! I’ll be looking for it…either way.

Looks like a great book! Can’t wait to check it out.
I’ve been a faithful reader for a long time now–your blog is even one of the tabs that opens every time I launch Firefox. I recently introduced your blog to clients at our mental health agency when leading a group on healthy summer eating. I have loved reading your recent guest posts. I have a “no buy” policy about cookbooks since I can find so many vegan recipes on line, but reading this post and visiting the Peas website has made me really, really, really want a copy. If I don’t win this giveaway, I may have to break my rules! Thank you for the many, many, many days of interesting reading you have provided. I know it takes a lot of courage to share so much about yourself online.
I’m totally going to buy her cookbook, but it would be awesome to win this and gift it on, spread the veggie love!!!
I have just started on my own vegetarian journey since April and am fearful of making the wrong choices for my 4 kids, therefore I haven’t taken meat off of their plates…yet! Once I am more educated and comfortable with this new life I will take the plunge! This book sounds like a super resource for me!
this cookbook looks great! My kids are not meat lovers and I’m always on the lookout for good veg recipes.
This book looks so good, what a great giveaway
Just love that Mama Pea!
I can’t wait to find out what the secret ingredient in the guacamole is! I’m thinking edamame…
