When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Would love to have this cookbook with 3 little ones of my own. Can’t wait to try some new things.
Yum! Sounds like a really accessible book. Some of the recipes in vegetarian cookbooks I have are a little too complex for me to make unless I have all day or a ton of unique ingredients.
Oh I REALLY want the cookbook….and the whole pack looks awesome! Yes, I agree, she’s just amazing. I love reading her blog….what a great and funny writer. Thanks for the giveaway :)
i’m a fan of the pea family too!! would love to get a copy of her book. :)
I’ve been waiting for this day since March when I preordered mine. Now if only the release date could be the same as delivery date ;) I’ve been stalking the USPS man daily. I’m hoping tomorrow is Christmas morning. I can’t wait to get cooking/baking. To quote MP, “Oh.My.Peas!” I am SO excited for them (and us–we are so lucky)!
Who doesn’t love a good cook book!? Thank you for the chance :)
I want to try eating vegan more often so this would give me some ideas!
Think your blog & recipes are absolutely one of my favorites. Just love your honesty and humor as well. The Peas Book looks adorable….(how could it not be with those beautiful babies!!)
I’ll have to let Mama Pea know that my cat used to have the same favorite food…although now that I am spending more time in the kitchen, she seems to enjoy tuna, shrimp, turkey, and even PEAS. I have some funny pictuers of her on my blog because she comes running every time she hears the can opener…Hello it’s pumpkin, not tuna! Thanks for the giveaway option…very fun!
I too am a mom of two funny, vegan little ones. I’d love to get my grubby hands on a new, beautiful cookbook for families like ours! Pretty PEAS, pick meee!
I’m new to your blogged and hooked! Thanks for the honest discussion about food, weight, and health!
So, so cute! I ate a whole bag microwave bag of peas today…in one sitting. They’re a beautiful thing! Hey, better than a bag of chocolate ;) Thanks for the giveaway!
I love Mama Pea! I kinda want her to adopt me …

Hello, I have been wanting to get more in to the vegan diet and would really love a cookbook that would help me find recipes me and my parents would like to try especially without telling my dad their vegan. HE HE!!!
Mama Pea’s sense of humour and love for her famly is what draws me back to her blog. I am too lazy to make the recipes though :D
