When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

I am dying for this cookbook!! Oregonian power !!!!
This is non-pea related but made your perfect veggie burgers for supper tonight. OMG – ammmmaaaaazzzeeeee….
What got me most though was the smell of all the ingredients as I mixed ’em up in my big old mixing bowl (usually reserved for cakes!) – it was like summer!!!
Thank you for spending the time creating them!! And the BBQ sauce that we had along side. Om nom.
Have a great day.
My birthday is coming up soon so I am hoping I am lucky, I would love to win the cookbook and pea pack.
This cookbook would be a welcomed edition to our small foster family in Phoenix! I am always struggling to find recipes that are husband and kid friendly (especially since every child I have had comes from a meat eating family).
This cookbook would be a blessing!
I’ve been reading Peas and Thank You for over a year now, and LOVE it! I would love to own a copy of the book!
xo
I would love to own her cookbook! I love her blog!
Oh would I love to have this cookbook! I’ve been waiting for it to come out. Family and kid-friendly vegan recipes are just what I need!
I have been inspired by Sarah’s blog Peas and Thank you. It has been exciting to try new recipes that are wholesome and delicious! It would be an honor to receive such an amazing cookbook with all the recipes at hand :) Also, thank you Angela for your delicious recipes too!
I just stumbled across her blog a few days ago! She’s a great writer! I would love to own another vegan cookbook. So far I only have a vegan dessert cookbook :-)
I would love to win the book! I can’t wait to try the recipes. thai crunch salad sounds amazing right about now!
I would love to own a copy of Mama Pea’s (she can be my Mama, too, right?) book. I’m about 95% vegan now (if I’m eating out, I won’t turn down a meal – especially a dessert – just because it’s been made using eggs), and know that the more vegan meal ideas I have at my disposal, the easier it will be to go full vegan.
In other news, I made your Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch Blizzard (for dinner – it was one of those days). OMG. My life is now one step closer to being complete.
I am a Healthy Eating Liaison at Whole Foods and love your blog! Whether at potluck parties, having friends over for dinner, or making a meal for me and my husband, my goal is to show that healthy recipes are extremely yummy, can be much more creative, and nourishing. I would LOVE this cookbook to showcase even more “Plant Strong” meals, and continue the mission steer people to the path of health, vibrancy and wellness!
Thanks for the impact you’ve had on so many people. I’m in full support!
