When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

I’m trying to eat more meatless meals and I’m addicted to recipes! This would be a wonderful addition to my collection, it looks like a great, usable, cookbook!
I am really enjoying both Mama Pea’s and your blogs even though I am not vegan (although would like to learn more about using beans, lentils, etc.) Despite that fact, I am finding so many great recipes on both of your sites. My favorite of hers thus far is her “Roasted Chickpea Tacos” and my favorite of yours thus far is “Easy Vegan Overnight Oats.” Thanks for your great work! :)
I would love the chance to win this. Because of your delicious recipes, I have managed to convince my hugely meatloving boyfriend to try vegan and veggie food. And he liked it! He always asks to have your warm sweet potato and black bean salad (and he is always so impressed when he feels full after!), and because I care about his health and heart, it just makes me so happy that I was finally able (so much because of you!) to get him to start thinking of other things in his diet. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do!!
I love Mama Pea and am dying to get this cookbook!
I’ve a newbie to Mama Peas recipes, but I’ve made her Mmm Sauce and loved it! I’m now following her blog and enjoy reading her stories! I’d love a copy of the book (and the goodies!) Thanks!
Mama Pea cracks me up, too! My cookbook still hasn’t arrived and I’m getting restless.
Love, love, love your blog! I have been checking in daily for the last year and have transformed my eating using your delicious recipes. So far I have lost 40 pounds (with many more to go). I am a Mom of 1 and I am always looking for family-friendly recipes that will please my picky eaters. I Would love to win a copy of Peas and Thank You!
I’d love to win this :)
A cookbook filled with scrumptious, yummy, and healthy vegan recipes? I’ll take that! Thanks Mama Pea! Angela, that Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad looks DELISH.
I’m really interested in making more vegitarian/vegan dishes… not sure how my husband will feel about it but I would love to expand my cooking horizons =)
Oh how I love that family. I want to be a Mom just like Sarah! I’m definitely gonna buy that cookbook – my first little girl is due in one month and it will be so nice to have healthy recipe ideas :)
love this giveaway and I loooove Mama Pea :)
Hahaha, this post is funny and really cute. I have not gotten into being a regular reader of Mama peas, even though a ton of my favorite blogs read her. I must make an effort to read this more often.
I would love to win a copy of this cookbook! The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna just came out of the oven :)
Omg, I love Mama Pea’s blig and can’t wait to get a copy of her book. All recipes I have tried from her blog (and I have made several of them) have been true winners!!
Ana
LOVE it! Love Mama Pea! Can’t wait to read the cookbook.
Hahah that comment about pea kitty is hilarious.
Good times + good food = :)
I love Mama Pea’s Mmm sauce! It is so good! I can’t wait to try more of her delicious looking recipes.
I could eat that salad right now, looks wonderful! I’d like to start eating more meatless meals and get protein from other sources. But above all else, it must taste good!
What a wonderful partner in crime for you! The idea that going meatless just one meal a week, is more eco-friendly than eating EVERYTHING locally is enough to empower me to work towards SEVERAL meat free meals a week. Hopefully, I’ll get chosen and have some more fun ideas to put into the mix!
