When I first came across Mama Pea’s blog, Peas and Thank You, I was drawn to her witty story-telling ability about her day to day shenanigans. Sarah, a devoted wife and mom of 2, pokes fun at her busy life as a mother trying to balance it all, including creating delicious vegan recipes for her family.
Oh, and did I mention that she wrote a cookbook in all her spare time?
She’s a magician that woman, a true magician.
And guess what? Today is the official release of the book by Canadian publisher Harlequin!
When Sarah asked me to be part of her Peas and Thank You Cookbook Tour, I was eager to jump aboard. Three (long) days passed before the package arrived in my mailbox. I ripped it open like the savage vegan beast that I am and I feasted my eyes over the beautiful photography, bright colours, and hilarious stories about the Pea Family.
I was no longer a loner in my kitchen. I had friends! The Pea Family was right along there with me, cracking jokes and letting the good times roll.
This beautiful Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad caught my eye and I knew it had to be in my belly pronto.
It’s packed with Pumpkin-spice roasted chickpeas, mango, strawberries, roasted almonds, fresh mint, dried cranberries, Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and more! Talk about an impeccable flavour combination, perfect for a hot summer day!
Eric and I both agreed it was a hit! How I wish that salad was in front of me right now at 11:49pm… :)
I also made Yogi Guacamole which is a high-protein guac with a secret ingredient! We enjoyed it with Mary’s crackers as a side dish.
Whenever I buy a cookbook I’m always curious what the author’s favourite recipes are, so I asked Mama Pea if she could spill the beans peas for us today!
Here’s what she shared…
1. Mama Pea’s favourite cookbook recipe: Thai Crunch Salad
2. Pea Daddy’s: Mango Cupcakes with Coconut Cream Frosting
3. Gigi’s: Cut Out Sugar Cookies
4. Lulu’s: Spaghetti & Mediterranean Lentil Meatballs
5. Pea Kitty: “She only eats cat fur. Which is the only explanation I have for the daily hairballs on my ‘dry clean only’ duvet cover.” [<– LOL]
And that is why I love Mama Pea; she cracks me up and fills my belly at the same time.
You know, they say the way to a woman’s heart is through her mind…and her stomach. Consider me smitten, Mama Pea.

Would love to be in the running! Love Mama Pea and her cookbook is definitely on my wish list! Thanks!
PIck me!
I’ve recently committed to eating vegan after seeing Forks Over Knives and reading lots of books/articles on animal welfare. It’s been easy for me to do on my own in the summer (salads and smoothies!), but I’ve been looking for a good family cookbook so I can cook meals for the whole family that everyone will enjoy and benefit from. Thanks for all of the inspiration!
I have been a long time follower of Mama Peas! Would LOVE to win her cookbook and try all the recipes.
Love Mama Pea and can’t wait to get her book…if i don’t win, i buying it for sure!
I’d love to have the cookbook – I recently committed myself to cooking 90% of my meals at home each week… and I’m struggling for some creative variety. This sounds like it would help!!
That salad looks so good! My copy of the book should be here soon, but it would be awesome to be able to give this to my friend as a present!
I need that cookbook! I must find out the secret guacamole ingredient!!
I would love to win this book, I love reading about the Pea family.
I would love to win this cookbook, Mama Pea is one of my favorites!
I’m about to head back up to college and this year I’ll be living in my fist apartment which means cooking for myself, so I could definitely use a good cookbook so I don’t end up living on coffee and granola bars!
Would love a chance to win it! The cookbook looks delish!!
This looks like such a cute cookbook! The guacamole looks fantastic!!
I love Mama Pea and would love to win this great book! I will probably buy a few copies to share with my family anyway, but still would be honored to win this!
Angela, I am a new reader and am obsessed with your recipes and blogging! My favorite recipe so far is your 15-minute avocado pasta recipe. Genius! It is the perfect amount of time, a delicious, healthy meal, and I love making extra sauce for dipping bread or veggies in, or using later as a salad dressing. Yum! I also made it once and served it cold as a pasta salad – truly a great dish. :)
Pick me, pick me! ;) I would so love to win this! I’m really trying to cook more vegetarian/vegan things and this seems like it would be the perfect start! :D
My copy is supposed to arrive Friday– I’ll be stalking the mailman, no doubt!
I am just now in the process of going vegan and could really use this cookbook! Thanks for the giveaway
I was going to buy the book today… but maybe the force is with me and I’ll win? That’d be saweet!
I love the Pea Family too and would love to win the prize pack.
