I had my first One Lucky Duck experience in NYC after hearing so many good things about it over the past few years. One Lucky Duck was founded in 2005 by Sarma Melngailis, the co-creator of the Manhattan raw food restaurant, Pure Food and Wine. Sarma started One Lucky Duck to help bring the raw, vegan and organic lifestyle out of the underground and into the mainstream.
At One Lucky Duck, you can find all kinds of amazing raw vegan snacks from raw macaroons to chocolate chip cookies, handmade in small batches in the kitchen at NYC’s raw vegan restaurant, Pure Food and Wine.
We visited the Chelsea Market location and I was so excited to step inside this cafe!

We did all kinds of NYC sightseeing on this day of our travels, so the market was a nice change of pace after rushing around all day.
I bashfully asked the server if I could snap a picture or two. I don’t know about you other bloggers, but I get shy when I take pictures of food…!
It’s a really cute & cozy cafe. All of their products are on the wall including a fridge for fresh juices and whatnot. I got myself a few goodies (macaroons, raw chocolate, and buckwheat crispies) and a shot of wheatgrass for good measure.
It was hard to choose! I’ve somehow managed to open everything over the past few days and everything tastes incredible. I especially fell in love with the buckwheat cinnamon crispies (below). Maybe I can make these at home too? It’s on my list. ;)

I’ve never had any vegan foods I didn’t like, but my favorite is your Pumpkin Pie Brownies. I can taste them now. :)
wow..fav vegan food? i’m not sure really about packaged anything, but I love a good roasted sweet potato sprinkled with cinnamon and some almond butter!!
Tempeh reubens! I can’t get enough of them! The thousand island is homemade with Vegenaise of course and vegan cheese is a must! I’m not even vegan and I’m addicted!
I love the banana soft serve! It’s like healthy ice-cream :)
Also, can you tell me what it means when you say they have “raw” food, like “raw chocolate”?
Thanks!
Funny coincidence… one of my fav vegan foods are OneLuckyDuck’s mallomars. They’re out of this world, as is their chocolate/coconut pudding and almond butter cup raw ice cream. I tried all of them on my own vegan pilgrimage to NYC a couple summers ago :)
Wow what an amazing giveaway! I’m so jealous of you being in NYC and getting to try so many amazing vegan restaurants! I’ve actually never been to NYC but hopefully I”ll make it there someday. If I was honestly picking my favorite vegan food I would probably pick fruits or veggies but since you are giving away dessert I’ll give you that. My favorite vegan dessert would be the AMAZING peanut butter fudge I made last weekend. All I did was combine equal parts peanut flour and confectionary sugar (not totally sure if thats vegan… probably some yummy bone char or something in it) with a little vanilla almond milk and stir stir stir. Stick it in the fridge/freezer and it is perfection. Best fudge ever!
anything one lucky duck is the best!
Your date square recipe is a staple in my every day life!!! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to enjoy a regular sugar filled date square ever again!
I think my absolute favorite vegan food is your pumpkin pie brownie! I made it for Thanksgiving so my vegetarian brother in law would have a dessert to eat and we all devoured it! It was amazing!
I love Pure Food and Wine! I think my favorite vegan food is my homemade pumpkin chocolate chip muffins….. so yum!
Um that was just amazingly perfect timing. I have a friend selling at the market in two weeks and I’ve promised to go visit her. I’ll pop in and bring her a snack to keep her energy levels up. Thanks!
Oh and yea you completely lucked out last weekend with weather on Wednesday I was ordering hats and gloves be put on and Saturday walking next to people in shorts. NY has the most random weather. I’m glad you got to experience Central Park as it should be experienced, grass under your feet, and not wading through slushy pavement.
Right now: dates! They’re just like candy! I’m addicted!
Favorite vegan food – anything you make on this site
Green smoothies, LaraBars and the awesome quinoa with apples and cranberries i made from your website tonight!!
My favorite vegan packaged food is the Odwalla Chocowalla bar. Yummy chocolate but not too sweet!
I love waaay too many vegan foods to pick just the 1… Fruit, veg, tofu, soy yoghurt, nuts… Carob ranks highly in my favourites though!
ANY Vegan dessert (I would love to try those macaroons) and veggie sushi.
Almond milk
