I interrupt the normally scheduled post for this foodie PSA.
I present to you my newest love: Victoria White Linen Collection All Natural Marinara Sauce carried at Costco.
My two sisters have been raving about this all-natural marinara sauce from Costco for months and to my delight, Kerrie gave me one on the weekend. She told me that it is so good you feel compelled to eat it straight from the jar! I knew instantly that she meant business because the true test of a good food is whether you want to spoon feed it to yourself straight from the container. ;)
However, nothing would have prepared me for just how good it is. This marinara sauce is not only delicious, authentic, and flavourful, it is a game changer. I’m so excited about it, I’ve cooked with it the past two nights.
Unfortunately it is a bit watery used as a pizza sauce, but I wasn’t really complaining. ;) I also made a fantastic stir-fry with it. I am thinking about making my own marinara sauce, but something tells me I will never be able to make it taste as good as this. I may have to wait until the summer when I can get my hands on some juicy local tomatoes!
Tell me what food products have blown you away recently that you just want to tell the world about! Or even tell me about a long-time classic product that will always be a staple in your pantry.
A few of mine:
- Vega Choc-o-lot protein powder (I don’t use it often, but as a treat when I want a higher protein smoothie or VOO.)
- Rizopia brown Rice pasta (I never knew brown rice pasta could taste this good!!)
- Chia seeds
- Artisana cacao bliss
- Kamut and spelt Spaghetti
- Canadian Heritage Organic pure maple syrup
I shall return.

Udi’s gluten free bagels= amazeballs!!! If unsweetened shredded coconut counts, I’d put that at number 1. I add it to almost everything- sweet or savory.
OMG! I know! I am in love with that sauce!! Soooo good!!!!!
Maybe you can put it in a sauce pan to heat it up and it will evaporate it a bit and make it a bit less watery? And then you can add some veggies to the sauce as well?
Oh, so many game changers, but they’re classics… Ezekiel bread for sure; loose yerba mate; 5-minute steel cut Irish oats; Nuun (sugarless gatorade tabs); Siggi’s yogurt.
Oh I do have a somewhat recent fave: Yum Nuts! The chocolate covered cashews are ridiculous. So are the coconut ones. So good. Expensive, but worth it.
I’m not a costco member myself, but can tag along when friends of ours next go, and I may just do that.
I’ve become a HUGE fan of Blue Diamond unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I cook with it, steam it for lattes, make smoothies with it….the list goes on.
I don’t have a Costco:( but someday I’m going to visit one and spend all day in there! And rent a van because my Mini Cooper just would not suffice.
Two items that come to mind that I have fallen in love with are Joseph’s Protein Pitas with Flax – they have a great ingredient list and are so soft you wouldn’t believe it! Also, Trader Joe’s almond butter with flax seed. I’ve never had an almond butter taste so good. I also don’t have access to a TJ’s, but got the AB when I was in DC this past fall – if I had known I would have bought about 10 jars!
Wow, I will look for that on my next trip to Costco, thanks!
I love that you say “on the weekend”! As opposed to “over the weekend.”
I just discovered Archer Farms (Target brand) Coconut Macaroon flavored coffee. Yum!
Yum!!! Don’t have a Costco but do have a Sam’s. Maybe they will have it. I usually make my own but would love a nice alternative for busy days. Can we have your pizza recipe? Your crust looks A-Mazing :)
yup my pizza recipe is here: http://ohsheglows.com/2010/10/17/project-food-blog-challenge-5-a-pizza-complex/
I just discovered nuts to you almond butter. Sooooo good!
I just got SO EXCITED when I saw the title of this post… and I’ll tell you why.
A “Game Changer” is my favorite drink. I invented it. Ok, maybe I didn’t invent the drink (its pretty simple), but I named it. One sip of a cool, refreshing game changer and your night is changed. It is making the rounds here in Guelph, and you can order it by name at a few places.
The Game Changer!
Ice
1 part Gin
2-3 parts gingerale
A generous squeeze of fresh LEMON juice (NOT lime!)
If you have the resources and the motivation, a little bit of lemon zest takes it to a whole new level (My Dad’s contribution!)
Stir and enjoy. Ahhhhhh
That marinara sauce looks so good – I am not one to usually used jarred sauces, but it looks delicious!
My absolute favourite product right now is Earth Balance (original) buttery spread. I love this stuff and can’t believe I used butter/margarine for so many years ~ I had no idea what I was missing. It is great in so many recipes, but I especially love it on a toasted Ezekial english muffin….so simple & so satisfying!
PS – your pizza looks DIVINE!
Oldie but goodie: Organic short-grain brown rice
Newbie: Whole Wheat Couscous
Freezer: Amy’s Brown Rice & Tofu bowl
First off… that pizza looks AWESOME!
Love of all loves: JK Gourmet Almond Flour. I always have at LEAST 4 boxes on hand at all times
Enjoy life granola: has been an ongoing staple for 3.5 years. It works great as a replacement for oats in recipes.
Medjool dates: these are quite new to me. I only had my first medjool date experience a couple of months ago. Now I make sure to always have them on hand.
I have used the White Linen Marinara Sauce for a couple years now, and will not buy any other. I fell in love with the natural, and minimal, ingredients and the taste, of course…glad you found and love it too!
That sauce does look delicious. I never knew Costco sold high-quality food. I just looked and there is one only 3 miles from me – maybe it’s time to get a membership!
Recent product that blew me away: Dandies vegan marshmallows. Not that they’re remotely healthy or anything, but wow, they taste and roast so much like real marshmallows, which I haven’t had for 10 years and thought I would never have again. Hopefully I can manage to eat them only on special occasions.
Long time products that will always be staples
Sugar
Chocolate Chips
Cocoa Powder
Coffee
Those are the 4 food groups, right? :)
No seriously, I love discovering new products that are awesome…and usually condiments, sauces, mustards, sweet spreads, nut butters, things like that…little jars of this and that…those are the things that I often discover and am like…wow, this rocks!
I warned you seesta! My other new favourite that we talked about is sunflower seed butter by Nuts to You .. put it on bread and my 5 yr old ate it, put it in a granola bar and my 1.5 yr old ate it .. now the 44 yr old ..?? think he will notice!
hah the 44 yr old had no idea that his chocolate cake had avocado in it, so maybe there is hope! ;)
