Chocolate for Breakfast: Take 2

April 4, 2009

Bears Beets Battlestar Galactica

Can someone please find me that clip off You Tube and send it to me? I am DYING to watch it again! Oh, the look on Jim’s face.

Thank you Valerie!!

food

I made a totally new combo of Glo Bar goodness this morning! I actually can’t believe that it hasn’t been made already.

It combines two of my favourite things: Chocolate and Bananas.

Inhale. Exhale.

Chocolate Banana Glo Bars

IMG_8258

Fabulous.

There is really no other words to describe them.

What about Chocolate Banana Mint Glo Bars?

Yup, made those too.

I think Chocolate and banana are a perfect pair, don’t you?

These would be wonderful sprinkled over oatmeal.

IMG_8255

Ingredients: Dates, raw almonds, organic cocoa powder, semi sweet chocolate, pure vanilla extract, bananas.

IMG_8261

These were fantastic! I love having a bit of healthy chocolate for breakfast. Next time I make these I am totally making them with dark chocolate. Mmmm.

I swear the caffeine in them gives me a little zing!! These chocolate bars are PERFECT before a workout!

Coming up next with my Glo Bars…COFFEE!!!! I don’t even like coffee, but I love it in baked goods. ZING!

Each bar has about 216 calories.

In sad food processor news, I think my food processor is on the fritz! It has been acting so strange lately. Parts aren’t fitting properly, the plastic rotator is melting, and I am burning my poor hands on it. I am dreaming of a Kitchen Aid food processor….lol. Does anyone have a great food processor that they just LOVE and have had no problems with?

Untitled-51 Did everyone do yesterday’s challenge? :)

For my third yoga pose, I tried something totally new. I was inspired by one of the comments!

The Dead Bug Pose!

It was wonderful! It actually is a great stretch for my groin/injury area (inner thigh). I will be doing this after every workout now!

Day 9 + 10 (April 4th and 5th): Weekends are a great time to crank up your cardio! Get some extra Z’s and then use the extra energy to pour into some great cardio workouts! The average person eats about 150 extra calories per day on the weekend, so what better reason to extend your normal cardio sweat session an extra 15-20 mins!

Bad news! I am SICK! My throat has been sore the past couple of days and got so much worse last night. I was up most of the night. :( I am going to go make a super duper green monster with the most veggies I have ever had! I don’t want to be sick for Leah’s shower!

fun

Here is a snippet of the gift for Leah that I have been working hard on:

IMG_8247

I think she is going to LOVE this gift and I am so excited for her to open it!! :)

See you this afternoon!

Today’s question: What is your favourite trick or tip to fight or prevent a cold?

Please help me! I have 1 day to get rid of this thing! :)

i LOVE dead bug’s pose! such a great hip/thigh stretch. i feel silly doing it, but i enjoy it at the same time.

as for your cold — i hope you feel better! lots of rest, fluids, self-pampering. i wouldn’t count on airborne, though. there was actually a recent class-action lawsuit where people who purchased airborne got money back because they made claims that were proven false by actual research studies. plus, airborne is mainly a vitamin supplement and you are amazing at getting all of yours in the natural way!

I have a KitchenAid food processor and love it! I’ve never had any problems.

I think the best way to fight a cold is to get plenty of rest. I hope you feel better!

I absolutely love that clip from the Office. Too bad the clip I found (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LghBMBAAQiI&feature=related) is pretty low quality, but it still works!

To fight off a cold I take echinacea and drink lots of water or tea. I think I’ve had one cold in the past three years (and it came on so fast I didn’t have a chance to fight back) by doing this.

mmmm that bar combo sounds just fantastic this am ;) I’m so sorry you’re sicky :( If I have just a cold, I like to workout lightly- I think it actually really helps! I did do my workout yesterday :) And have hit up this weekends already! I have been getting about 5 hours of sleep per night this week and last night- I got 9! Then I taught Body Step this am! I feel great!

Hi Angela! Whenever I start feeling lousy (which is often, since I work with kids) I try to eat a ton of fruit thoughout the day, and then sip on Theraflu Cold before bed. It helps me sleep, but doesn’t knock me out the way NyQuil does. Give it a shot – I always wake up feeling so much better and so refreshed! Hope you bounce back quickly!

Hi Angela, Those bars look and sound delish! Too bad about your food processor. You could check out Nella Cutlery (www.nellacutlery.com) at 148 Norfinch Ave (400 & Steeles). They have everything for restaurant and bakery kitchens as well as the home kitchen. Love that place.
Hope you feel better soon. My hubby swears by ColdFX when he feels a cold coming on.

Angela – that stinks about the food processor – I have the new Cuisinart and I love it!

Getting a lot of sleep is really the best way to prevent a cold. I try to get 7-8 hours every night, but if I feel a cold coming on or if I’ve been around sick people I try to get about 9. Also, drinking an extra cup of water a day helps a ton!
