Today marks 3 years since I started blogging on October 31, 2008. My, my how times flies!
Every year that goes by, I’m so grateful for YOU sharing this journey with me and allowing me to grow as a person, make some mistakes along the way, and pursue my dreams. I don’t have all the answers or even many, but what I do know is that we all have something to learn from one another. Sharing our life experiences, gaining insight, laughter, great food, and wisdom. That’s what you give to me each day.
I also know that I really, really have no control around brownies. Or Sketchie cuddles.

Yesterday I spent a bit of time reading through old blog entries from 2008…oh man, it was funny to read some old posts! The blog has certainly changed and grown in so many ways, as have I. One of my biggest challenges over the past few years has been learning to listen to my heart when sometimes it feels like it’s being pulled in a thousand directions. So far it hasn’t steered me wrong more than… a few times. But that’s OK too.

I’ve been sitting on some blog news for a while now, but it didn’t really feel fitting to throw at the end of a recipe, so I’ll share it with you today!
Thank you for your votes in Chatelaine Magazine’sd Women of the Year awards! I found out last week that I’m a winner in the Hot 20 Under 30 category and I couldn’t be more excited to be included with so many inspiring women.
I really encourage you to pick up the magazine if you can (it’s on newsstands now) as it’s jam packed with women’s stories of personal triumph, business ventures, and so much more.

Secondly, I’m thrilled to tell you that I recently signed with a literary agent. As you may know, a huge dream of mine is to write cookbooks. For the past while, I’ve been trying to juggle increasing demands with both the bakery and blog businesses and I’ve been running myself into the ground trying to do it all. To give myself the time required to finish the intensive proposal and hopeful future cookbook, I’m closing the bakery. That’s not to say that I will never run the bakery again (who knows maybe someday I will open a storefront), but for now it won’t be open. Your support with the bakery has truly meant the world to me over the past couple years. As a thank you for your support, I hope to include a couple Glo Bar recipes in my future cookbook. This way, you can make them in the comfort of your own home whenever the craving strikes!

Lastly, I’m excited to be working with Chatelaine Magazine as one of their Health and Wellness bloggers. I’m contributing my favourite seasonal vegan recipes for their blog. If you haven’t checked out their website you really should! It’s brimming with great information and thousands of delicious recipes. I’m really excited to take on freelance work because it’s a great opportunity to spread my love for vegan food. Another opportunity I’ve had recently is to develop the recipes for an article in Glow Magazine, which you can see below.

Ok, now that’s out of the way, let me get to the fun stuff!

I tried to think about one of my favourite kitchen items that I could giveaway on the blog. One of them would definitely have to be a cute apron! They really make cooking and baking more fun.
I picked up this apron and matching pot holder at Pier 1 last week for the giveaway. If for some reason you don’t like this apron, I’ll be happy to buy you an apron of your choice from Anthropologie. I know that not everyone likes pink floral like I do, so there are no hard feelings. ;) I want you to love it!
To enter the giveaway please leave a comment below. Contest closes next Sunday Nov 6th and it’s open to anyone, anywhere. Goodluck!

…and Happy Halloween! T minus 8 hours until I become a Queen of Hearts again…

Congrats on your 3rd year of blogging!!! So many great opportunities ahead! Can’t wait for the cookbook ;).
Been following you for the majority of those 3 years!! Congrats Angela :)
Hi Angela!!! You deserve every accolade….I have also suffered from eating problems, severe food allergies, used to despise cooking and have slowly transitioned to being gluten-free, vegan, and a lover of yummy, healthy food. I check your blog at least daily and it has been such a good resource for me. As an athlete too, I need lots of energy-filled delicious dishes and yours always hit the spot….especially the recent ones on hearty vegan lunches, smoothies/green monsters, anything with lentils, and that butternut squash burrito (mouth is watering just thinking about it). thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!!
BTW, I love the pink and you look adorable in that apron :)
Congratulations on 3 years! I’m a long time lurker on your blog and I find it very inspiring. I would love to see some recipes featuring fresh cranberries. They’re currently in season so I bought a whole bunch and now I don’t know what to do with them! Most cranberry recipes seem to use so much sugar. Looking forward to your cookbook!
Congratulations Angela – I’m a long time reader who has followed your blog with interest. I know it must be a tough decision to close the bakery, but I think that pursuing a cook book is such an exciting opportunity. I look forward to following your journey!
Angela, remember that yur blog is always whispering happy thoughts to us all (even on days when you don’t feel like writing!) THANK YU for sharing.
Yur an inspiration!
:D Happy Halloween!
Congratulations on 3 years! That is awesome! You have sure made a nice footprint in the WWW and in my life! Thank you for all you do!
I am so excited that I “stumbled” upon your blog. You are a GOD-send to me! GREAT recipes!!! I am addicted to the vegan brownies. Thanks for the EXTRA 3 lbs! Teehee!!!
We went through a massive detox and did what we dubbed “stricter than vegan” diet, lifestysle really. We cut all animal products, sugar, caffeine, alcohol and bread for 3 months. We felt amazing after the initial shock to our systems in the first 2 weeks. After the 3 months we went vegetarian and started to gradually add back in the other items in moderation. Your recipes have helped us so much! We had virtually no vegan recipes until I found your blog. Thank you!
Congrats on 3 years! Canadian Pride! WOOHOO
Congrats on 3 years! I have only been following you for the past few months and I love your recipes and your story is an inspiration to me. Last week I made you Vegan Chocolate chip cookies for my husband and he loved them so much he decided to take them to work. He shared them with his fellow U.S. Marines and none of them believed they were vegan. They said they were the best cookies ever and there was no way they were vegan LOL. Thank you.
#1 – Cutest Apron ever! And of course there would be a pot holder to match!!
#2 – YOU have been a huge inpiration to me in the past year that I have been reading your blog. Because of you, I finally got up the nerve to start my own blog in an attempt to find out more about myself, I have become so much more patient in the kitchen -taking the time to ask my husband [he’s the Chef of the house] to spend time teaching me the tricks of the trade and even baking/creating on my own thanks to your recipes! Reading your blog is part of my daily routine and I want to Thank You for that!
#3 – If I had a pretty Apron like that, I am sure I would spend even more time in the kitchen!
Happy Halloween! Happy 3 Year Anniversary! Congrats on the awards! Fingers crossed for the CookBook!!!
Natasha
Congratulations on all your success! That’s so exciting!
Congratulations on all that you’ve acheived! You deserve it. I can’t wait for the cookbook, I will def. need to get a copy:)
Congrats on 3 years!!! Lovely apron and giveaway. Is it not amazing how time flies?
Angela, I am not a vegan but I love your blog. I have tried many of your recipes and they always turn out great! I especially like your ‘scale disclaimer’.
Congratulations on finding an agent. Hope that book deal comes through quickly!
Congratulations on 3 years. I wake up every morning and your blog is in my TOP 3 that I go to to see what’s going on. I’ve told so many about your blog and your fab recipes. Keep them coming. Love it, love it, love it!
Congrats on 3 year! I make your recipes at least once a week and love them all!
Happy Halloween!! Beautiful apron.
