We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

Hi Angela!
I love your first cookbook! I would be honoured to be a recipe tester for your second cookbook! I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I am trying to eat healthier and cook for my husband and I plant based meals more often. Trying to please meat eaters is not an easy task!
Svetlana
I didn’t even know there was such a thing as recipe tester. I feel like I’m already a tester as we continually come to your site for recipes. In Dec 2012, I read a book about an ultrarunner who is a vegan and it sparked my interest. Reading that book led me to buy a vita mix and start making green smoothies. A month later I heard about something called cashew cheese and decided to google it. It led me to your recipe for vegan lasagna with lemon basil cashew cheese. WOW, that was spark that put our family on a new path to radically change our diets. The lasagna and cashew cheese was so, so good and we couldn’t believe something with out meat was actually tasty and healthy. My wife and I were both raised on the “meat and potato” philosophy with the belief that more meat was better, so to consider meals with all veggies took some adjustment. Here we are 2 years later and still going strong. With the help of your tasty recipes, we continue to get better at taking care of ourselves. We also have two kids under 5 who are getting on the same page too (that’s not always easy).
It took my well over a year to finally admit to other guys that one of my favorite sites is something called “Oh She Glows”… Yes, as a guy I still get some funny responses, but it doesn’t phase me anymore because I know how good it is for our family.
Angela, thanks for putting the time and effort into this site. This is one family that you have made a life changing impact on.
Tracy
p.s. I am an engineering so following an exact recipe is in my DNA:)
Love your recipes and am currently cooking through your cookbook. We make 4-5 recipes of yours/week and love them! As a vegan family of 5 (3 kids) it is great to have a resource that provides delicious and healthy options for our collective taste buds. Thanks for sharing your creativity and talent!
My boyfriend gave me your cookbook for my birthday last year and we love it! Thank you so much for inspiring us to make new and exciting recipes. I know you have a lot of response for recipe testers, the ones picked will be a lucky bunch!
Syd from Dartmouth, NS
Your blog and cookbook inspired me to love food again. I especially feel I can relate as I have recovered from a restricive eating disorder myself. I have a new found love for everything food and actually have my very own food blog in the works. I nearly did a backflip when I saw the news about your new cookbook!!!
What a cool opportunity! I just recently went vegan, GF, refined sugar-free, caffeine-free, alcohol-free for a cleanse. Your recipes make it so easy! I love food, so I need options that aren’t salad and GF spaghetti from the jar…and I look to OSG for delicious options. I LOVE cookbooks. I also have vegan and non-vegan taste testers…so pretty please pick me! :) Good luck!
Would love to see you try your hand at some sprouted recipes, such as sprouted buckwheat pancakes! Mmmmm!
Very excited for the 2nd book! I probably make at least 3 of your recipes every week as is, so this would just be a normal week. My friends would love you if I’m selected :-)
Thanks so much for this opportunity! What a fun, creative way for your readers to become more involved in the process. I am a nurse anesthetist which can be challenging/tiring, and I love to come home at the end of a busy day and whip up something delicious. While I’ve never been a recipe tester before, I have been an advance screener for movies. So, I understand the value of honest and constructive feedback. I also like to host people for dinner, which makes for many opportunities for feedback about the success of the dish. Again, thanks for thinking of your readers for this fun experience. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Hi Angela,
I would love to be a recipe tester, I have made nearly everything in your first recipe book and on your website. I love your recipes, you seem to have the same tastes as I do, which makes it easy to try something you have made. Thank you!
Angela,
I would love the opportunity to be a recipe tester. I have devoured your cookbook and I read cookbooks for sport! I’ve been vegetarian since my early teens (hmmm.. a long time — I have 2 daughters in their 20’s — one who has Celiac disease, so I have learned the benefits of being GF, as well). I am a holistic Health Coach (through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition) as well as a yoga and Pilates instructor — and about to start teaching Barre. I’m working on a fitness/food/fashion website and blog for women in their 50’s and would love to highlight your creativity to this demographic :) Best of luck!
I signed up to become a tester because I am not a vegan. I am not even a vegetarian. What I am is a 50+ female that is convinced my poor food choices have to change. I read the introduction to your book and realized I have the same misconceptions about what being vegan means- I just want my health back. Regardless of whether I am chosen as a food tester I love your website and thank you for all of the content you provide. Very inspired by you!
This is such a great opportunity, I would be blessed to be a part of it! I am a masters student studying nutrition and health promotion, and found your blog when I started school last year. Since then, I am known from my friends to be an “oh she glows diehard”, and my boyfriend affectionately yells “Oh she’s glowing again” when he hears the food processor zooming away! I, like many others here on the comments, spend most of my days following your recipes, and could have some great tips or suggestions to give, and a fresh eye when the writing gets tough (definitely know this as i’m currently writing my thesis!).
I like the idea of nutritional content in the back, something that someone could flip to but not necessarily read on each recipe. I am also hoping there will be some more savoury snack and breakfast items in the new book. I especially love the recipes on your blog using mason jars (ie. the peanut butter cups and oatmeals to go). I think a lot of us are packing things to go to school or work, and that would be so great to have more of in a cookbook.
The other suggestion I have is recipes that are nut free. Lots of vegan blogs use cashews as a base, and while I love em, I can’t have them with every meal (and I’m a cheeze die hard). So any other ways to up the protein content in meals in a nut free way would be excellent!
I would be so excited to help you with this new chapter of your life! It is so incredibly exciting :)
I would love to be a recipe tester. I have followed your blog for almost a year and have your book. I would not catagorise myself yet as a vegan but I tend to cook vegeterian meals a lot and get my husband to enjoy them too. I would love to participate but I understand that you can not pick all of us interested. Look forward to your new book.
Hi Angela,
Very excited for book #2 Would love to help test as I cook almost exclusively from your blog and first book now! But either way so looking forward to new recipes!!!
I agree that having the protein amount included would be a huge help! I’m not concerned about calories but do like to make sure I’m getting enough protein. My naturopathic doctor has asked me to keep track:)
Hi Angela! I am a huge fan of your blog, your book and your inspiration! I have recently started a new journey as a health coach and mention you and your cookbook in my blog/ website. I can’t wait for your new cookbook! Good luck with it.
Hi Angela!
I would love to be considered as a recipe taster! I am a past culinary professional (professionally trained) and am now a hairstylist who Is on matt leave. I think I enjoy cooking now more than when I did it as a career, as I have more time to make the things I love for the people I love. I am not a vegan, but making healthy choices for my family is very important to me! I wanted to buy your book because while I can easily come up with non vegan dishes, I wanted some new inspiration when it came to making ones that are vegan. Just submitted my form!!
I must say that I am a big fan of the last cookbook and your blog. I absolutely love the crowd pleasing Caesar salad and the smashed potatoes. I made the salad twice and the potatoes 3 times over the holidays and they were a big hit each time. I bought your cookbook for my 2 daughters and they love cooking up your recipes as well. I would love to be considered for recipe testing. My kitchen is supplied with a food processor and vita mix as well. I already use at least one recipe from your blog or cookbook at least 1-2 times a week. I have been trying to incorporate more vegan recipes into our diets over the last 2 years. So far I’ve made my husband a fan of your recipes too, which he is a trustworthy critic. Thank you for your consideration.
Hi, I had a son just a couple of months after you in October. I was wondering if you would be including any baby food recipes in this cookbook? I would love to be a tester for those, too! I submitted my info. Congrats on your beautiful baby!
I just signed up, but I feel like I should change my eating restrictions!
I’ve been following your blog for years and love the first OSG cookbook, it’s my go to when I’m in a cooking rut (and I love to cook!) . I would be so honoured and excited to recipe test for you!
I’m in!! When do we start??
What an exciting opportunity to offer! I so look forward to reading about your new recipes and would love to be considered for a tester. I’m always excited to try a new recipe, especially if it requires learning a new cooking technique in the process! I could definitely test two to three recipes per week. Best wishes on your new book!
Hi Angela,
I submitted the recipe testing form but wanted to reach out and let you know I’m a trained chef and professional recipe tester. I have experience in recipe development and testing for global brands and I would love to talk with you about working on your second book…congrats by the way!
Jennie
I’ve applied :) I am currently OBSESSED with your cookbook and cook from it nearly every single day anyway! Yesterday it was YOLO’s and the sweet potato enchiladas… my hubby is in heaven! I’m a brand new Registered Holistic Nutritionist and being a recipe tester for Oh She Glows would be an amazing addition to my new blog!! I told everyone in my family the day I registered because I would be OVER THE MOON to do this! Thanks for all of your inspiration! xo
I’m so excited that you are coming out with a second cookbook – and that you are taking on recipe testers! I applied and have my fingers crossed :) What an amazing opportunity!
Yay! So happy to hear that you are developing another AWESOME cookbook! I would be over the moon if I was chosen to be a recipe taster. I enjoy cooking, and my basset hound “Pickles” loves sniffing all the goodies I am making from your first cookbook (especially any recipe that includes peanut butter, or carrots, or sweet potatoes). I hope you enjoy the creative process heaps this second time around!
I would LOVE to be considered!! I’ve never commented on your blog, but I LOVE it- I read it all the time and check everyday to see if you’ve posted! Your recipes are delicious and simple to put together and the whole family loves them-we make at least 3 of your recipes a week already! Thanks for considering!!!
I am so excited about this! I’ve made 3 of your recipes in the last 2 days! I made your vegetable 10 spice stew, and chocolate cake last night, and this morning the chia doughnuts! They were all amazing! I love your cookbook! In fact I told my husband yesterday I think I’m going to go through your recipes 1 at a time! I love to cook and have 4 whole foods eating children would are great recipe testers for me. My baby is dairy and soy free so I love knowing your recipes will work for my family and be tasty too! Feel free to look me up on my healthy eating page on Instagram! @eat_juicy !!! Xoxo ~ Kristen
Everyone of your recipes that I’ve tried has been delicious. I’m looking forward to the new book. BTW- How do you find the time? You are amazing.
Hi Angela, I discovered your blog one month ago, as I was looking for vegan recipes. I’ve been into vegan food for a few months – it all started with a special diet for my husband- and we loved it ! I’ve been thrilled to discover your blog, which became a great source of inspiration and recipes, and already tried a lot. I’m a part-time stay at home Mom and I’ve applied to be a tester, I’d love to be considered :) thank you !
Your cookbook changed my way of cooking for myself, my family (carnivore option on the side for half!) and the little children in my homedaycare. The children enjoy green monsters at snacktime, chia pudding for treats and love to dip carrot sticks and zucchini chips in the life Affirming Nacho Dip! My son has your recipies made into “healthy vegan frozen dinners” in our freezer and takes them to go!
I have applied to be a recipe tester on your new cookbook, and would live the chance to cook and give feedback. You even inspired me to ask for a vitamix for Christmas from my husband ( which I received!) Thanks from a bunch if healthy kids!
I cannot wait until this book rolls out. I am so thrilled that you are at it again. I’ve been actively cooking off your blog and out of your cookbook for quite some time and have even convinced many of my friends to get a copy of the book too! I love spending my free time in the kitchen testing new things out on my family and friends all the time.
I Would love to be part of this little project!
Im in my last 6 months of medical residency and didn’t think I would have found time to cook until I bought your book– it was life changing for both me and my husband. I cook from your first book at least 3 times a week and have posted tons of pics and sent so many pics and posts to my friends and family who i’ve all convinced to buy your first book as well! I have been vegetarian all my life- but becoming vegan has been something new for us in the last 4 moths. I’ve used your blog and book to help us through that diet change. Im your biggest fan and love everything in the first book. I love cooking, trying new things, and being healthy :) Although I live in Michigan, I am born Canadian, and a true Canuck at heart. Look forward to hearing back :).
Hi Angela, I’ve recently come across your website – and I love it! Thank you for sharing your beautiful recipes. My partner is a total sweet tooth, so I am trying to help us both stay healthy (even during dessert!) by eating as much raw/gluten free and “healthy” sweets as we can. One of his favourite dishes I make is my mum’s classic lemon meringue pie (drool). I wonder if you have any recipes or ideas on a healthy/vegan/gluten free take on this? I would be so interested to see what you come up with :) Very much looking forward to the delivery of your first book to my front door, and cannot wait for the 2nd version too. Thanks again :) Mel
Hi Angela! I am so happy you are creating a second book! I am a 14 year old girl who loves making your food for school lunches as well as my (not vegan) family! Thankyou for the oppertunity to be a recipe tester! My dad and brother are tough critics on healthy food but so far all your recipees have made the cut haha! I just wanted to ask would your next book have a different focus then your first one or still your favourite recipees for each meal? Thanks, Mikaela
This is wonderful news! I practically test all of your recipes already because I cannot help myself from making them ALL THE TIME! I cannot wait for a new cookbook :)
I LOVE your first book so much I bought several and gave them as gifts. My personal trainer uses it as much as I do! We talk about recipes we have tried and loved all the time.
I have a request. I am trying to find a good recipe for simple red lentil pasta. I tried to make it myself and failed. I just used lentil flour I made myself from red lentils and water. Then I tried adding a little oil. I was using a Kitchen Aid extruder but no dice. I really want to make a high quality lasagna noodle that doesn’t have wheat or rice, etc., because I have several wonderful vegan lasagna recipes I want to use it in!
I’m so excited about this, I hope I get picked!
Hi Angela,
I have a suggestion to offer (although you may already be doing this in book 2) ~ if you could add notes regarding the freeze-ability of items & prep time at the top of recipes. I have so enjoyed your cookbook and blog/recipes. I hope to get a chance to be a tester, but if not, I know the book will be as amazing as the first :)
All the best ~
Margaret.
Freeze-ability info is a fantastic suggestion! I am always leery about whether or not things will “hold up” in the freezer (or more accurately, AFTER the freezer) so I would definitely like that information!
I have a home daycare and the children and I have been baking healthybtreats from Oh She Glows…they bring them home to share, and their moms have become purchasers of Oh She Glows! Many of the vegan meals I prepare for and with them are from your book and blog, and my 16 year old son has created a freezer full if friozen dinners by freezing your recipies into take-out portions!
I’ve applied to be a recipe tester…I would love to try the new recipies and give input…I have a little group of girls here to give their opinions, too, and I think it would be an exciting activity for them to be “testers” :)
All the best with your hard work developing these new meals!
I can’t wait for the new cookbook, whether I’m chosen as a recipe tester or not! I have tried so many of your recipes, both from the first cookbook and yiur website that I know the next one will totally rock. There hasn’t been a single thing I haven’t loved. My thoughts on the whole calorie count, nutrient content, etc…I have learned that just eating healthy, real, whole foods regularly and keeping my head when it comes to the cookies and desserts has totally changed my food attitude. We should focus on nutrients, not calories for optimal health and even for weight loss. And if anyone is eating your recipes regularly, they feel confident they are getting what they need. I take a vegan calcium supplement daily as well as a vegan multi to be on the safe side and I’ve never felt better. Calorie counting, in my humble opinion is counterproductive and takes up too much time.
I am super excited for this!!!!!
Pick me! Pick me! Okay my reasons may be a bit selfish. Feeding my cooking addiction by getting a chance to cook your recipes before the rest of the world.
I hope I am picked, mainly because it would be a GREAT way to justify my family needing to eat vegan with me for 3 meals a week! ha ha!
A new book, how exciting! Would love the opportunity to help out. As a relatively new (2 years in) vegan your recipes have provided both the inspiration to think outside of the box, and the comfort of knowing that entertaining non-veggie family members/friends is safe! I have been tagging along as my other completes the plant based certificate at Rouxbe. His skills have gone from zero to high five pretty quick, so we are actually having some fun in the kitchen! We’re ready to keep the recipes flying…all the best with your project! :)
PS kitchen is vitamix and food processor ready!
Hi there! Just wanted to say that I am a big fan of you and your cookbook and would be honored to be considered as a food tester! :)
I have submitted my form to be a recipe tester, I have recently adopted a vegan lifestyle (1 month young) after experiencing 1 year of ovo-lacto vegetarianism (my gift to myself in my 56 year). I enjoy your blog and recipes and to show my supported purchased the Oh She Glows cookbook. I tend to be a tad “specific” so following a recipe word for word is NOT a problem for me. Committing to 3 recipes a week could be a challenge as I am an active member of a small family business and a proud “yaya” of 5 grandchild aged 6 and under. Looking forward to enjoying new Vegan Culinary Creations!!!!!
Can’t cook, don’t cook. I do however love to buy lots of pretty books and dreamily read about all of the healthy and delicious meals I could be making with my sadly almost mint condition Vitamix and bunch of other overpriced and underused kitchen equipment.
I would love some motivation to finally get my hands (and Vitamix) dirty, and the added bonus is that if I can successfully recreate the dishes, you can be sure that they are idiot proof :)
