We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

It would be so much fun to test recipes. My day just got a little brighter – keeping my fingers crossed!
I have never tried a recipe of yours that I didn’t love :) this would be lots of fun to get back into the groove of cooking new things!
Hoping to get picked! Vegan, food obsessed, and aspiring to write my own cookbook one day! Also, have a B.A. in technical writing, so writing clear, detailed notes and reviews would be no problem at all!! :)
Congratulations Angela!!!!
I can’t wait to get my hands on the second edition. Your Blog and first cookbook are on heavy rotation at our house..
Recipe testing would be a DREAM COME TRUE!!!
whoop whoop! so exciting :)
Ah! This is so cool! Oh She Glows is by far my favorite recipe spot on the web. I’ve recommended it to so many people, and your recipes always help convince my non-vegan friends and family that vegan food rocks!
Is there anything else I can do to contribute to my application?
I cook almost every day of the week for a household of 3 young adults (They’ve agreed to do all the chores if I cook. :P ). I’m the only long-term vegan (1 year now!), but the other two are interested in eating more healthfully while still eating quality, tasty, and nutritious meals. We are all athletes and are looking for healthier food to improve performance. We also cook on a budget and look to make our meals without using too many hyper-specialized ingredients.
I hope I’ll get to work with you on a cookbook!
Kate
Wow. What a fun idea Angela! I purchased your cookbook last summer and it has changed my life! So thrilled for your next one. Keep the yummy treats coming :)
This is so awesome! What a great way for you to incorporate your readers into your book process. I wish I had the time to commit because I’d love to help you out but from the looks of the comments above I’m sure you’re going to have plenty of participants. Good luck with your book!
Hi !
Just submitted for the recipe tester thing ! :)
Wondering if we got no professional recipe testing background we can still have a chance of being chosen?
I’ve been testing recipes for some years for personal pleasure (and family’s one, since I always cook too much and bring half of it at home), and writing them down in a personal recipe book. (a virtual French one since I’m from Montreal).
Since I’m planning of having my first foodblog in 2015, I actually submit as soon as I saw this opportunity on Facebook.
Have a nice day ! :)
You certainly don’t have to have any prior experience. :)
This is such an exciting opportunity! I recommend your blog & cookbook to pretty much everyone that asks for my favourite healthy recipes. The thing I love about your recipes is that they are simple for beginner cooks (like my sister) and they utilize pretty common ingredients so they don’t scare away people new to healthy eating. I’d love to give you a hand testing out new recipes. Some weeks I’m already making at least 3 of your recipes lol I usually make little substitutions here and there, but I’d be willing to play by the rules for a bit ;-) Either way, best of luck with the new cookbook! I can’t wait to add it to my collection and start recommending it to everyone I know!
Congratulations! Good luck with finding testers.
Hi Angela,
How exciting! I just wanted to write a bit more about myself. I’ve eaten vegan and also followed your blog for many years now. I always cook / prep food at home. I have a spiralizer and a mandolin. I always make notes on recipes. I’m amazing at following directions and giving feedback :)
Thanks for giving us this opportunity.
Jenna
**the spiralizer and mandoline are in addition to the regular healthy kitchen appliances.
This is a great idea! I really hope that you pick me :-)
Best of luck with the new book!
This is so exciting! I’ve been following you for several years, and have fallen in love with your story, beautiful pictures, and (of course) delicious recipes. My friends call me the Oh She Glows spokesperson, as I’m always referring people to your blog/cookbook, and whipping up your recipes to share. Would die to be a part of such a cool process!
I just bought a house, so since im leaving my little appartment, i wanted to buy a cooking book ! You are the lucky one ! I am a meat lover (We had a farm when i was young) and i love to try vegan recipes.
I’m so into cooking right now, i will def be happy to test your recipes ! :)
What a great opportunity! Thanks for opening it up to readers. I’m in no way a professional cook, but I love exploring new things in the kitchen and how fun to try lots of different recipes! And I love your site/book.
Wow – I would have loved to do this! I have a tiny limitation in that I have a 10 week old baby girl so we’re still trying to master small things like making breakfast before noon! I love love love your blog (especially the baby updates!) and am obsessed with your cookbook. In “Julia & Julia” style I’ve been working through the book recipe by recipe. I’ve been using the word “delicious” more than ever before and it’s all because of you! Thanks for everything you do – you’re amazing!
Hi Angela,
Ohhh my…I was waiting badly for this post :) Thank you for this opportunity, I’ve submitted my info and I’ll be honoured to join your selected group of recipe testers! I really love your first book and can’t wait for the second. Actually, your book is a favorite here. I use it on a regular basis and some of your recipe have become a regular here.
I wish me good luck…hi hi !!! Talk to you later :)
What I think would be fun about testing your recipes is that I would want to feed the vegan sister, the meat-eater boyfriend, and the vegetarian self to see how everyone reacts to the recipe.
What a fabulous idea to get your readers involved!
If you have tried every diet and you are interested in changing your entire outlook on diet and nutrition, make sure to check out my blog. I am a Health Psychologist I just started out, so it would mean a lot to me!

Quick question: how many weeks do you require the commitment for and are they consecutive? Thanks!
As much as I cook, and cook your recipes, I would love to be a part of this adventure. I’m so glad you’re writing a second book, we just LOVE the first one. I gave one to my best friend’s parents for Christmas and I’ve been getting photo texts ever since, you’re a winner!! =D
Thanks for allowing readers this neat opportunity! It’s so much fun to be involved in small ways. I know you have a lot of applications to consider, and as with everyone, I’m *more than eager* to aid you (hehe!). I had a blast cooking through your entire cookbook in less than 1 year this past year as my own little project. I documented all of my fun on Instragram using #cookbookinayear :)
Hi Angela, form in, fingers crossed! My husband has recently taken an interest in whole foods after a lifetime of meat n veg and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Now we’re facing the challenge of working out what to cook that will be satisfying, energizing and healthy. Recipe-testing is calling our name! Plus, we’re in NZ so we could test your autumn and winter recipes as you head into spring…x
So excited! I would love to be a tester!!
Dear Angela,
I have been vegan for just over a year, and your blog and cookbook are favourites of mine. They have made my transition much easier, not to mention delicious! My boyfriend and I especially love your cookies – right now we have a stash of “One Bowl Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies” in our freezer!
I am really excited at the opportunity to test some recipes. I usually make a point to try out several new recipes a week from my cookbooks already, so I would love to help out!
LOVE your first cookbook and excited to see the second one!
Angela, I am the type of person who takes as many pictures of my food on vacation as I do the people involved in the trip. I write down ideas and recipes in notebooks, on napkins, or even my hand if absolutely necessary, much as I would imagine a musician jots down lyric ideas. I read recipe books and food blogs as though they were novels, nerdy but true. I love food! My latest creations have been revolving around how to incorporate kale and arugula into soups, salads, and pastas. And making chia jams and chutneys…delicious. Everything I have ever made using your recipes has been absolutely wonderful. When I am in the mood to try something new, I almost always check your site first. My friends have “oohed and awed” in amazement over the dishes I have prepared and shared at work–the pasta sauces? Ah-mazing. And healthy! Thrilled to hear you are starting another project–would love to be a part of your testing team!
I just wanted to say that I own your current cookbook, along with about 50 other vegan cookbooks. I am vegan, but my family is not, and with a teenager and a very picky 11 year old boy who won’t eat an apple if you tell him it’s vegan, I have found that your book is the ONLY one that consistently the whole family loves with no complaints. I cook dinner 6 nights a week from scratch, so it can be a very big challenge to make everyone happy. Thanks Angela. :))
I would love to be a recipe tester! I cook everyday for my husband and 6 sons already, and many of our recipes come from your blog. They love most of your recipes. I say “most” because lets be truthful, they are teenage boys. Here’s an opportunity to get feedback from all age groups, adult down to toddler. Good luck with the new book, it’s exciting!
Just filled in the form! Absolutely loved the first cookbook and your website! My boyfriend, an omnivore, loves your recipes! He is a rower, so he eats loads. I know who will be my second opinion on your recipes, if I get picked! ;) I don’t think he minds…
I have always been a keen cook and even more so since becoming vegan about 6 months ago as I am expanding my repertoire. I have never tested for a cookbook before but thought I would put my name forward. I have an additional challenge – I live in Portugal where it can be difficult to find some ingredients called for in (especially) US cookbooks, but this could be an advantage if you want your book to have a more global appeal :)
My 10 and 2 year old daughters love to help in the kitchen especially when we make your fabulous recipes because they know they can taste test :-) Your blog and cookbook have been lifesavers this past year since my youngest is now egg-free. Our family more than appreciates your hard work in creating these amazing recipes!
I would SO love to do this – I have made (and loved) almost every recipe in your first cookbook and am so excited about the second!
When would the recipe testing begin? I am currently in school but would love to hear more about it!
I’ve been dabbling with vegan cooking for the last six months and find both your blog and the OSG cookbook invaluable! It would be a real treat to be selected as on of your recipe testers. I try five to ten new recipes each week – cooking is my therapy! Good luck with this next endeavor. You are an inspiration to many people.
I am so excited about your new cookbook!! I use your first book and your blog on a regular basis and the recipes never disappoint. I have incorporated your dishes into my every day, holiday dinners, and have passed on several cookbooks to others who have also fallen in love with your recipes. I am a newlywed, currently stay at home wife, with a husband who loves my cooking and will eat anything. :) I would love the opportunity to be a tester for your next cookbook. Thank you for considering and opening this opportunity to your readers! Regardless, I can’t wait to try your new creations!
Congratulations and good luck on starting your second cookbook! You have been such an inspiration to me! Using your delicious recipes and seeing your beautiful photos has helped me immensely since I decided to become vegan. I have loved to cook for years, and reading/seeing your website truly convinced me that we could have beautiful/delicious food AND be vegan. I’ve like every recipe of yours that we’ve tried, and I can’t wait to see the new ones : )
Even if I don’t get to be a taste-tester, knowing that I have your next cookbook to look forward to is exciting enough! Haha
One of my colleagues here in Public Health in Arizona has just introduced me to your lentils and walnut taco’s recipe and I cannot make them at home. I am very intrigued by your website and recipes and hope to work with you as a tester, since I love to cook and be creative in the kitchen using healthier ingredients.
I am a huge fan of your cookbook and blog & am so excited by this opportunity to test out your new recipes! I am currently at University (struggling with the lack of healthy and vegan food) but will be home again in May. I love to cook and if it would still work for me to be a recipe tester starting in May, I would really love the opportunity. I could definitely commit to testing 3 recipes a week! Thanks!
Hi Angela, I wanted to fill out the application form but it doesn’t send because I did not fill out city and state. I’m in Europe so I don’t have a state haha. Or is it only possible to submit when you are in the USA / Canada? I would love to test. I’m totally in the vegan cooking groove at the moment.
If I had my own kitchen I would do this in a heart beat. I have made nearly all the recipes from your cookbook and loved each one. Can’t wait for new recipes! Good luck! :)

Oooo would love to be a recipe taster! I can’t wait for your cookbook!
I am seriously excited about the possibility of being a recipe tester for you Angela. I have recently taken a leap of faith by taking time off from work to follow my passion by studying to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. I LOVE trying new recipes and nourishing my family with healthy real food. Your first cookbook is amazing and sits in my kitchen (with stains and folded pages!) and I love following your blog. You are an inspiration! The timing of this opportunity could not be more perfect and I would be so grateful to be able to help you on your next endeavor!! Applied. Fingers and toes are crossed !!
I am so looking forward to the new cookbook. My family and I LOVE the first one and the recipes on your blog. Made the Double Dark Chocolate Coconut Macaroon tart for my daughter’s second birthday a few days ago and it was a huge hit! Can’t wait for another book of great recipes. Best of luck!
I’m so happy that you are going to write another book. I write a lot of my own recipes for work, so I am familiar with how important it is to have accurate feedback. Anywho, my husband and I love your book, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with for the next one.
Angela this is the best news! Your cookbook is hands down my favorite and I am thrilled you are in the works for #2. I pimp your book to everyone I know (literally almost everyday). You helped take the stress out of dinner time, r since I no longer have to think about what to cook. Your recipes are easy, tasty and healthy which can be a hard match sometimes. I made your vegan Caesar salad and Chili last week and even my meat-eating husband couldn’t get enough. You are an inspiration and I’d be honored to be one your taste testers. Wishing you many years of continued success.
Congratulations, Angela. Looks like you have an overwhelming amount of keen followers ready to test your recipes. Keep up the great work. Really enjoyed the recipes from the first book.
Angela … I can not tell you how excited I am/ We are about a new cookbook …
A friend and I host a pop-up kitchen almost monthly …. we serve 10 – 12 people – any donations collected are sent to local food charities ! We use your recipes constantly and direct people to your site all of the time … you have truly been a lifesaver to so many people !!!
It would be an honor to test any and all of your recipes … but if we are not selected we will still be loyal followers !!!! A thousand thanks !!! Julie – Tessa and all of the foodie mom’s from Pittsburgh PA !!!!!
This might be a silly question, but would it matter if the recipes were tested and feedback provided on weekends verses weekdays?
And thank you for providing your readers with this opportunity!
