We are eating like kings around here lately. Whoever invented elastic waistbands…I think I love you/hate you. [If you didn’t hear the news in my last post, I’m working away on a second cookbook!]
For my first cookbook, I relied on a fabulous group of dedicated and passionate recipe testers who gave my recipes a whirl in their own kitchens and then provided detailed and honest feedback. Recipe testers are essential to the cookbook development process (just like your recipe reviews on this blog!) and I couldn’t have produced such a solid group of recipes without them. It really takes a village! I recruited family and friends mostly, but since I received a lot of interest from my blog readers, I decided to open it up to you this time around.
I’m looking for recipe testers of all different abilities, so if you are a new cook or a seasoned pro feel free to apply. You certainly don’t have to be vegan either. My passion is creating recipes that people with all kinds of diets can enjoy. Those of you who can commit to testing at least 3 recipes per week will be given top priority as we’ll need to move through the recipes at a good pace.
I’m also looking for testers who will…
follow recipes exactly as written (this isn’t the time to make substitutions, unless suggested in the recipe),
take notes while cooking (such as noting your prep time or any areas of confusion in the directions),
submit thorough feedback immediately following the recipe (there will be an electronic form with standardized questions for each recipe).
You will also need a blender and a food processor as some of the recipes require these tools.
One last thing. Do you love to stuff your face with super delicious food? Perfect. I knew we would hit it off.
If you think you’d like to apply, you can fill out this submission form below. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to take on everyone who applies, but thank you all for your generosity in offering your help!

I am thrilled you are working on another cookbook. The first one must have been a lot of work but you should be proud of it. Everything I have made, I get the thumbs up from husband and me of course. Keep up the excellent work.
I’d love to be considered. Really enjoy your work and what you do. Maybe I’d be a good candidate because I do such little cooking and baking that if a recipe works for me, it must be amazing.
Hi Angela! I already make 1-3 of your meals a week, sometimes the same, but I mostly different ones each time. I follow your recipes to the T. Often, when people come over, I just hand your cookbook to family/friends and tell them to pick a recipe for all of us to try! I also enjoy seeing your updated book recipes on your blog (I.e, the veggie burger and lentil-walnut tacos).
I just filled out the form. I hope you consider me as a recipe taster!
This is so awesome- my bf always says that he wishes he could quit finance to be a recipe tester!! I just sent this link to him :P He doesn’t have time, but if he could he’d be pumping our 5 of yours a day and eating them all! Congrats on the project :)

Looking forward to cooking up a storm!
How exciting!!!! I loved your first cook book soooo much! Everything I”ve made out of it was phenomenal, I know the new one will be great too!
Hi Angela!
Thank you for this opportunity, I’ve submitted my info and I’ll be honoured to join your selected group of recipe testers! I love your first book and can”t wait for the second. you are so talented!

This would be a dream come true!!! I’ve already made at least half the recipes from the OSG cookbook! Omg fingers crossed
I was waiting for this post!!
I found your website in 2008 shortly after deciding to try veganism to improve some severe health problems – I was hopeless and ready to quit (too much rice and broccoli!) until I found your site! I’m so excited for the opportunity to recipe test for you – I’ve made almost every recipe in the OSG cookbook, not to mention all the recipes posted since 2008!
Thank you for reaching out to us!
What a great idea, to have regular people prepare and try your recipes before they are published. I’m in a dinner/meal idea rut and this sounds like a fun way to get out of it! Good luck to everyone who applies :)
Hello, I use your cookbook everyday it seems for something. I would like to know if its possible to add the calorie counts of the dish: carb %, protein, fat and fibre. would it be possible for you to put this in the next book at all?
Thanks,
Thanks for your input – I will definitely consider it!
Hi Angela!
So excited you’re working on another book – fingers crossed i get a chance to participate in the recipe testing!!
Just a thought off Ellen’s comment – it would be great to have the protein etc. counts.. but maybe not the calorie count? When i use your recipes or cookbook, calorie count doesn’t even cross my mind because I know what I’m about to eat is a plate of delicious nutrition.
Maybe including the calorie count will just create an obsession over numbers and somewhat defeat the purpose I and many others use your recipes for.
Just my input!
Thanks for your feedback Sarah-Jane! I think if I were to include the nutritional info, it would be in a table in the back of the book (and not on the recipe pages). So it wouldn’t be a focus of the book since it’s not something I use myself, but it would be there for others to look up. Still not quite sure what I will do yet but that is an option!
Just to add my two cents… I also don’t count calories, but what would be most helpful for me is iron information (and other vitamins/minerals) as I’m always uber conscious of my iron intake!
A really cool idea might be making a section called, “How You’re Making Your Body Glow.” There you can list all the goodness – ie. vitamins, minerals, nutrients – included in your recipes. This would be a good opportunity to learn about nutrition, rather than focus on numbers.
Just a thought :)
I love that idea Alexa!
Also want to add my two cents: Angela, I think your story is very inspiring to many others to stop calorie counting and to start eating awesome whole food. Calorie counts of the recipes might just promote that again…?
Great idea!
I would love to see this as well pleeeease!!!! Any idea of when your next book will be out?!? CAN’T WAIT!!!!
Oh, pick me, pick me please! Would love, love, love to be a recipe tester for Oh She Glows! I would be thrilled to spend the time and effort doing this in the name of fabulous food!
I would love the opportunity to be a recipe tester and give back to the OSG community! I truly appreciate the time and dedication you put into your blog and recipes.
Not the best cook here…..but would love to be considered for a “Recipe Taster” position. How exciting. I’m glad you’re not taking just vegans though either. I may not be strictly vegan but I still love this blog, your recipes and every animal under the planet.
Also love elastic waistbands, although I haven’t been pregnant in 4 years, my favorite jeans are still a pair of maternity ones!!!
I became a vegan a year ago for health reasons and so I am new to cooking this way. I love to cook and since my three daughters moved back home (all got a divorce and brought a dog!) I have pretty much converted them too. I have your first book and refer many to your site. Testing recipes to the letter of your instructions would be a great way for me to progress and experience new food prep.
Thank you for the opportunity to apply.
This would be a dream!!! I have fallen in love with your cookbook and the recipes on your website. I would love to be a tester, keeping my fingers crossed.
I’ve written several blog posts about your cookbook:
http://lifeonacanadianisland.blogspot.ca/search/label/oh%20she%20glows
I did fill in the form but only gave the main link to my blog.
I can’t wait for your second book! Congratulations :)
I stumbled across your website over a year ago and we have pretty much only eaten ohsheglows meals since. My husband and I were training for an Ironman and decided to change our diet in order to get healthier (and hopefully race faster!). I love trying all of your different recipes and we couldn’t get over how much better we both felt. Your delicious recipes allowed us to fuel, train, and recover properly. I would LOVE to be a recipe tester as we prep for another Ironman this year. Side note- my husband had his best year ever of racing and qualified for and competed at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii last October. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love your blog :)
I absolutely love your website, and even if I’m not selected, I’ll look forward to trying new recipes once they are submitted on here!
All best wishes :-)
Hi! Great opportunity! I’d love to participate and could provide a guy’s perspective if that would be helpful! I’m a fan of your blog and recipes — looking forward to the new cookbook!
sorry if this is rude (i don’t mean to be AT ALL), but is this a paid opportunity? i know that sometimes the ingredients you use in your recipes can be a little expensive, but if we are compensated, i would definitely be interested because i really love reading you site and i’d be happy to support it in any way :) if anyone else knows the answer to this question, please let me know as well!
It’s not rude at all to clarify any questions you have! For the first book we did regular giveaways (in the form of Visa gift cards or gift cards of the winner’s choice), so we will probably do the same this time around. But no it’s not paid, but on a volunteer basis. Hope this helps!
I would LOVE to do this – I have found so many recipes from OSG which I have shared with friends and family (even non-veg ones!). Since going vegan years ago, I have become much more adventurous with trying new things, and I learned to cook in the process.
I would love to be a recipe tester! I actually discovered the cookbook before your blog and I have made so much from both. Your cookbook is my go-to and is pretty dog-eared already….lol! Even my non-vegan friends and family love everything I’ve made from it!
I have a husband and 3 boys under 6 with very particular pallets, if they approve a recipe, it’s golden! I’d love to help with this, I’m basically on a vegan culinary journey right now, I can’t get enough of these wonderful recipes!
This is so exciting! I have loved so many of your recipes from the website and your first book. Can’t wait for the next one! I’ve been eating Vegan for almost 3 years for health reasons, and your website has just been so helpful to me. Thanks, so much, for all the great testing you do to get great food options to all of us out here!
I would LOVE to be a recipe tester. I am always trying new recipes and I LOVE the ones i have tried from your cookbook. I am unable to fill out the above application on my iPhone. Do you need to use a desk top or laptop to do so? Thanks
I love all your recipes and your cookbook. I have made most of the recipes in your cookbook and serve them to my meat-loving, spicy palette Texan friends and gotten rave reviews!! I would LOVE to be a recipe tester, and I have my fingers crossed you pick me. My 11 year-old daughter helps me cook, and she loves to tell her friends that some of the desserts are gluten-free and vegan. Love your blog!
Thanks for all the great recipes! Keep them coming! :)
FOOD! This sounds fun. I’m on a big kick to force myself to try new recipes anyway.
I am sooo excited you are making a new cook book!! This is awesome :)
I’ve enjoyed your recipes ever since a co-worker put your book on her wedding registry. When it came from Amazon I was flipping the pages so much, I had to buy another copy for her! I’ve given your book as a gift to many people, and shared your blog info with a group I’m in of health-conscious people. I’ve been a vegan for a few years and your book is my go-to. Hope we can work together!
Like everyone else, I think it would be so fun to test these new recipes! I have a family of four with two little kids so it would be fun to see how they like the recipes.
What a fun opportunity! Thanks!
Hi Angela! I love your book so much and I’d love to be a recipe tester! Thank you so much <3
Sweet! I literally just jumped out of my chair and ran to my computer to fill this out. So excited for you, and to also see what you come up with next :) either way, it is a win!!
I’m interested in taking part and can likely handle 3 recipes a week – but not indefinitely. How long would the recipe testing process last and when do you expect it to begin?
Hi Jacq,
There is no sent amount of time because it really depends on how the feedback goes and how many times I need to re-vamp recipes. For the first cookbook, it went for several months, but there were many weeks/months in there that I didn’t have anything to post at all, so it definitely won’t be 3 recipes per week for months. It just really varies – sorry I can’t provide more helpful guidelines! I did have a few testers have to bow out due to other commitments and I totally understand if that is the case.
It should start up in the next couple weeks.
Thanks for the reply!
Being a recipe tester sounds very much like my day job of being a scientist – following protocols and taking detailed notes. Except the end results are edible and delicious!
I saw your cookbook at a neighbours and borrowed it while she was on vacation. My husband and I loved the recipes so much that I had to buy it! I would love to be a recipe tester! I’ve got the time and my husband is an amazing helper and is also good at giving constructive criticism when I cook anything! I also have a 22 year old vegetarian daughter home 4 days out of the week while going to University.
I’ve been a fan for MANY years. Would love to help you out with testing new recipes! Can’t wait for the next book. It’s going to be amazing!
This is sounds like an awesome opportunity. I do have two questions, is there an estimate of how many weeks this will be? Also I understand not substituting ingedients but would it be okay to divide the recipies, or even multiply?
This is very interesting !
I would like to know when the “testing” begins and for how many weeks ?
thank you :)

Thank you for your answer and for this opportunity :)
I will send my form !
I have your first book and it’s just wonderful….can’t wait for the next one !
I’m so excited I got to apply for this so quickly after you posted, I was so sure it would be completely closed by the time I saw the update! I hope I get the chance to participate! :)
I am so happy to apply and excited that you are creating another cookbook !
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be recipe tasters.
I am a recent graduate of university with a passion for cooking and healthy eating. I offer advice to all of my friends and family regarding healthy recipes and eating on a budget. The Oh She Glows blog and cookbook not only taught me how to cook but it also gave me an opportunity to inspire others. Your cookbook is my go to for when I am hosting a party, making dinner for date night, and bringing snacks into the office.
In summary, you create delicious food, I love to cook and eat food so hopefully we can work as a team :)
A second cookbook, so exciting! I’ve been a blog follower for several years and my all-time favorite pesto is your roasted tomato pesto! We also use your beautifully photographed instructions for almond milk weekly now. My husband has just been diagnosed with high cholesterol (it’s unfortunately familial) at twenty seven, and we are actively trying to incorporate more vegan recipes into our weekly rotation. I would love to get the chance to test, and my kitchen is fully equipped with both a food processor and a vitamix. Also, I’m a stickler for accuracy from my Weight Watchers days, and like to measure my ingredients with a food scale. Thank you!
How awesome that you’re reaching out to your readers! What a great opportunity :) Either way, I’d love to connect and help promote the book any way I can! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your first cookbook and use it all the time — I’m sure the second one can only be better. Hopefully we can connect soon!
Alll the best,
Lauren

Hooray!!! How exciting! My kids and I love your first book! Congrats on its huge success! Happy writing!
After immersing myself in your cookbook and driving my friends and family crazy with my enthusiam for new recipes and being completely amazed how tasty your recipes are, I recently started a healthy recipe blog! Thank you for all the hard work that I now realize goes into keeping a website! I would be thrilled to be a taste tester…I have a little group of kid tasters for my blog…off kilter kids…to see if they are kid worthy :)
Your book has to be my favorite book I’ve purchased in 2014.. I’ve tried several and all were amazing.. I’m so looking forward to your next one ( if you have one in the works )..
I waited 6 months to get your new cookbook. I ordered it before it came out..hence I’m that serious about “loving” your recipes….please, please consider me for a tester for your new book. Thanks.
I am so excited about a new cookbook. I already own your current cookbook and love trying out new recipes. They really helped me feel more comfortable with food when I was overcoming my eating disorder.
This would be so fun! Awesome that you’re reaching out to your readers to help out with this. None of your recipes have steered me wrong in the past, so you’ve clearly done a good job with recipe testing/recipe testers before!

I love this! If I weren’t so busy testing my own recipes, I would be filling out that form in a heartbeat. I honestly don’t know why more cookbook authors don’t do the same thing — offering testing jobs to their readers — because I’m certain you’ll get really honest and helpful feedback! Good luck with your second cookbook, I can’t wait to see it!
Hi! I can’t commit to a full 3 meals per week because of my work schedule, but I’d love to help you with your new book! I love your recipes and have found so much inspiration here. Thank you!!
What a joy it would be to try out your recipes! I know I’d grow so much in my vegan-cooking skills! Hopeful for the opportunity:)
