I’m bursting with joy to tell you that our baby girl, Adriana, arrived Sunday September 21st at 1:34pm, weighing 7 pounds and 20 inches in length. She decided to arrive 1 day before her due date – fooling her mama entirely because by that point I was convinced she was coming a week late. Not long after I published my 39 week post on Saturday, I started going into early labour (I just didn’t know that’s what it was at the time!).
I never knew life could be so crazy happy (or crazy challenging, for that matter). It’s like we’ve known her all our lives. I’m not normally a person who relaxes a great deal, but she’s shown me how to live in the moment and enjoy the right now. I feel like my life has a new sense of meaning and purpose and I’m really excited to get to know her a bit more every day. One thing is for sure, she has a great dad and looks so much like him. I can’t get over the hilarious facial expressions she makes. We have laughed so much in the 4 short days we’ve known her.
Ok, Adriana says it’s feeding time once again! Back to it.
ps – I’m thinking about sharing our birth story on here, so let me know if that is something you’d be interested in.
Thank you for all your love and support!!
I am incredibly overcome with happiness for you both and your new little one. She looks so healthy and absolutely glows. Seeing these two photos… so sweet. Thank you for sharing your pregnancy journey with us. I, for one, would love to hear her birth story :) Congratulations again, and many blessings to your family.
P.S. please let us know how Sketchie reacts to Adriana
Thank you Sonia!
Sketchie was pretty terrified of her at first. Heh. He kept his distance and was on edge when she’d cry. But he seems to be warming up to her the past couple days as he’s now always in the same room as us and sleeps in the room again. But not sure after last night as we only slept 3 hours and he’s drained today, hah. I’m sure it’ll take time!
I just love Sonia’s comment and your response! I’ve been a long-time reader and it really brightened my day to see that photo of you and Adriana in your instagram feed. It’s amazing how much love can be conveyed through a photograph. There’s no way Sketchie will be able to resist falling in love with Adriana for long!
Hi! In my experience, (I have 6 animals at home, all adopted at different times) animal adjustment is faster when you help the animal along with a bit of psychology lol. I try to make my animals feel really rewarded each time they make a small step towards accepting the new change or addition to the family. They don’t know what the small human or other animal is – to them it’s just a threat, so if you’re there as the mommy to exaggerate with the “it’s okay!” and “gooddddd kitty” in my experience the adjustment period shortens, as the animal feels more comfortable and like his needs will still be met even though there’s a new attention-seeking creature in the house. He’s used to getting all the love for himself :)
Dear Glowing Family, congratulations on your newest heaven-sent member! Adriana looks uncannily like her father. So happy for you all. Such a kick to read that hours after you posted your 39 weeks story that pre-labour began–it is hard to know what it is the first time. If you are nursing I hope you find some nursing tops asap, and that the first-timer process goes smoothly for you. La Leche League’s forum got me through some rough first months of nursing, and the LLLadies there are tops! KellyMom is also an indispensable source of reassurance (Got Milk? and other top posts). Hope when things settle down you share what you want to share. :) Congratulations again.
I would LOVE to hear your birth story! Congratulations, she’s beautiful! Glad you’re all happy and healthy. (:
I would love to hear birth story as well . . . being the doula that I am :).

Hi Angela, I’ve been following your blog for about a year and never commented before, but I just felt compelled to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS on having your beautiful baby girl! She’s a stunner, and Adriana is such a gorgeous name :) You and Eric are going to be awesome parents. Good luck, and much love from the UK :D xx
Congratulations guys! She is so beautiful and you look like such a happy family. Would love to heae your birth story, I’m expecting my third but still cant get enough of that stuff! :)
Congratulations and welcome, beautiful little Adriana! I LOVE the name!!!
I have been following your blog and especially your baby posts from Austria – and love(d) every bit of it.
Please do share your birth story – but first, take some rest and settle into your new life. As a mom of two I know this may take some time. Just in case it’s not all going as smoothly as you wished or imagined: You are not alone :) Becoming a mum is a huge change in a woman’s life. So many new things to learn, so many new responsibilities and tasks, those intense hormonal changes…it can be overwhelming. My only advice: Be kind with yourself and don’t let anything or anyone mess with your instincts – you are Adriana’s mom and YOU are the one who knows best :)
Lots and lots of love and all best wishes!!
aurelia

Dear Angela,
Congratulation on the birth of your precious little bundle! I wish you and your family all the happiness in the world.
We have recently (2 month) started using your cookbook as a base for our home cooking. My husband who until now firmly believed he could not go a day without meat, recently declared: “Who would have thought that a book could bring so much joy to our life.”
Thank you for the delicious recipes and for helping me stir my husband towards healthier eating habits. Looking forward to your posts:)
That’s so sweet, thank you so much for your support!
Congratulations!!! Love her name and she is so beautiful! Would love to hear your birth story – of course!

My husband and I are loosely trying to have a baby (I say loosely because I don’t want to make it a job) and your blog is so encouraging. I tear up almost every time because it is just full of sweetness and love for baby Adriana. I would love to hear all about your birthing story, please do share.
Sending love to the little bundle of joy!

Congratulations, she looks perfect! This is partly the result of a very healthy mama, I am sure!
She’s just beautiful. I would love to hear your birth story! I like sharing mine too. I hope you’re getting an hour or two of sleep here and there. Those first few weeks (months) are tough.
My little guy was born a year ago on 9/16, it’s a wonderful time of year for a baby!
Congratulations Angela & Eric. She is absolutely beautiful….so is her name. Looks just like her daddy. I would really enjoy reading her birth story! Since we are expecting our little one to debut end of November/first week of December, I’ve started reading ALL the birth stories I can.
Congratulations again and hope you are taking advantage of all of your freezer meals. You are absolutely glowing, mama!
Congrats Angela and Eric – she is lovely. She looks cheeky and so alert already – I bet she is going to be a character! Would love to hear your birth story – I always find them so interesting to read having all that ahead of me!. Congrats again.
ps am eagerly awaiting the arrival of your cookbook. I have been in a food rut so am looking forward to trying out some new dishes.
Congratulations Angela and Eric!!!!! There is nothing better in the world! Just want to say thank you for all your great recipes and posts. My family loves everything you make (and now I make). Pretty much every meal in our house is an “Oh She Glows” meal!! Thank you for your New York City post too. My husband and I had a great date night due to your restaurant recommendations!
Congratulations Angela and Eric! She is so beautiful. You have handled your pregnancy and birth with such grace and are a true inspiration in this world of instant updates and connectedness. I’m so glad you two were able to take time away and just be with your baby.
I’d love to hear your birth story. I don’t have children but there’s a huge baby boom amongst my friends and I love hearing these stories, especially since every single one ends with the words: every thing I went through in the last 10 months (or longer!), I would go through a million times again just to have my baby.
Congratulations again! Everybody looks happy and healthy. It’s nice to have a half body shot of Eric. I mean the man does have some nice hands but it was definitely great to see his smiling and smitten face. Endless love is written there. Check in when you can!
You know we’d love to read your birth story! Congratulations. She’s absolutely gorgeous!
Congratulations! She looks absolutely beautiful. I was wondering if you were completely vegan for your entire pregnancy? I’d love to hear your birth story. x
So, so, so cute! Congratulations!
Congratulations Angela! She is very cute :) You are looking fab as well! I was such a mess at 3 days after giving birth..you seem to be doing so well! I would love to hear the birth story, more so because I have been reading all the prego updates here :) Our little guy turned 1 last week, so all i can say is welcome to parenting! It is incredibly difficult, but incredibly fun!
Congratulations!!! She’s beautiful!!! Please share your birth story!!! We’d all love to hear it!!
Congratulations!! She’s beautiful:)
I love hearing birth stories! Bring it on!
What a beauty!!!!!!! I’m so happy for you!!!! Yes please post your labor story, for all the mommas to be out there!!! :o) Congratulations!
Warmest congratulations! She is beautiful. Your birth story is yours to share however you would like, to whatever extent you wish. I am not big into publishing these things online, as it involves a small human who doesn’t yet have a choice what the world reads about her, but you may have a different sense of the online community. In any event, writing out the story while it is still fresh, is a wonderful way to process things, and also to recall and rejoice as time passes.
Congratulations to you both on the arrival of your precious daughter. She is absolutely adorable
Congrats!! I was SO thrilled to see the photo pop up on instagram the other day…
I started following ‘ohsheglows’ around summer last year- you’re blog is what the made me finally take the plunge into vegan-ism. I live in Santa Cruz, CA- it’s not a totally uncommon thing around here! Nutritional yeast, is in every store :)
It’s be great to get to know your blog, and then see this momentous progression in your lives!
A thousands best wishes to you & your growing family!! Please do spill the beans on the birth story!
Would love to hear the birth story!! Don’t leave us in the dark. Every one is a miracle. :)
