I never thought this day would arrive, but lo and behold it has. After almost 3 years of hope, sweat, and tears, I can finally say today is the day that The Oh She Glows Cookbook hits shelves across North America! Can you believe it? Because I sure can’t.
This journey has been filled with many ups and downs, but I couldn’t be more grateful that I kept the faith in this project. Without a doubt, this book wouldn’t have happened without your support and encouragement! You were the ones who planted the cookbook seed in my mind many years ago. Only then did I actually think that maybe it wasn’t so far out of the realm of possibilities. Everyone needs that fearless friend in their lives pushing them a bit harder and giving them encouragement. I was just lucky to have a whole group of you doing that for me. I hope this book is a reflection of all that love and gratitude that I have (and a real passion for great-tasting, healthy food. of course).
A Bit About The Oh She Glows Cookbook:
~ There are over 100 vegan recipes and 100 photographs. Yes, it’s a highly visual and colourful cookbook (yippee!). I photographed and styled all of the food photos in the book. This was a massive undertaking, but I’m so glad I pushed myself to do it. Our friend and talented photographer, Dave Biesse, shot the lifestyle photos of us playing in our landlord’s kitchen and outdoors here in Oakville!
~ I had 3 main goals when creating this cookbook: 1) Create recipes that please meat eaters and vegans alike (fyi: most of my recipe testers were not vegan/vegetarian!); 2) The recipes are made with real, whole food ingredients – not processed imitation foods; 3) Great taste and healthy food are not exclusive – you can have both! 4) Oh and one more, include a wide range of quick and easy recipes, as well as more intensive ones (but nothing a new cook can’t handle!).
~ Each recipe has allergy information indicating whether it is gluten-free, soy-free, grain-free, nut-free, sugar-free, oil-free, and/or no bake/raw. I wanted this book to be accessible for all kinds of diets and I really think there is something for everyone. Additionally, many of my recipes have notes that will tell you how to adapt a recipe. For example, my cookie recipe has 2 notes about how you can make the cookies nut-free and even grain-free if you want. Hidden gems. Read the notes – you won’t be sorry.
~ There are around 85 gluten-free recipes and most are soy-free or have soy-free alternatives.
~ Each recipe indicates the prep time and cook time estimates to help you plan ahead.
~ There is a chapter called My Natural Foods Pantry detailing my most commonly used ingredients. I provide tips and tricks about each ingredient and give you the scoop!
~ I also share my favourite Kitchen Tools and Appliances in another chapter.
~ The recipes all have headnotes giving you recipes hints, describing the recipe, and/or sharing short stories about my life or how the recipe came about. Each chapter has an opening paragraph to get you excited about the chapter and it describes how it fits into my own life.
~ Yes, there are two different covers – a carrot cover in the U.S. and a parfait cover in Canada. See above image. This is because my publishers had different visions for the cover. Many people do not know this, but the author doesn’t have the final word on the cover so it really depends on what the publisher has in mind. The content is the same, however! The Canadian cover also has gorgeous French flaps.
~ There are 10 recipe chapters (Breakfast, Smoothies/Juices/Tea, Appetizers, Soup, Salad, Entrees, Sides, Power Snacks, Desserts, and Homemade Staples). Each chapter has around 10 recipes, with the entrée chapter and homemade staples chapter both having 15 recipes or more.
~ You’ll find recipes like: Out The Door Chia Power Doughnuts (I can bet you’ve never had a doughnut like this!), two of my favorite Glo Bar recipes from my former bakery, Life-Affirming Warm Nacho Dip (people will chase you down at parties for this recipe), Chilled Chocolate Espresso Torte, and more!

Dearest Angela,
I am forever grateful for your website, and now your amazing cookbook that I anxiously awaited to arrive on my doorstep. It turned out great and I am eager to get cooking. Thanks to you, I have changed my eating habits, and adopted a vegan lifestyle. Your creativity is inspiring and appreciated. You have made a difference in my life, as well as so many others. Know that your hard work and dedication has, and will, benefit everyone who has the good fortune to come across it. Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing your gift with the world.
Blessings,
Brigitte
Got your cookbook home today, A feast for the eyes. I devoured every page and now I get to eat my way through the book. Well done Angela…….well done….
Thank you so much.
Sometimes I’m so envious of your life it physically hurts. sigh. I probably wouldn’t be posting this if I wasn’t so sleep deprived and stressed out, sorry! But really, congratulations on the cookbook :) I know that must have taken a lot of work and it looks beautiful :)
Congratulations Angela! I was so excited when the book was delivered on Tuesday. In fact my husband ordered it for me as I had been talking about it so much. I thought he was going to give it to me on my birthday next month but he gave it to me immediately so that I could make some of the recipes from it this weekend (p.s. He eats meat). The only problem is that the recipes all sound, and look so delicious in your amazing photos, that I really am not sure where I’m going to start. You must be so proud of your cookbook achievement!
Congratulations! With your marvelous talent and creativity and generous spirit I’m sure it will be an instant bestseller and future alltime cookbook classic. Thank you so much for all you share including your superfabulous recipes and stories! You’ve come a long way since your first vegan glo-bites…you have much to be proud of. All the best to you! :)
Happy International Women’s Day too!
EEkkk…. super excited just ordered your book on Amazon.. I’m borderline Vegan, and your recipes are so wonderful and inspiring… thank you for being you! Toni
Congrats Angela!!! So happy & excited for you.
I can’t wait to go find me a copy =D
Thursday was the best day of the week, the day I finally received your cookbook!! I was overjoyed when it arrived at my door and I couldn’t be more in love with it. In fact, I have told my boyfriend that it is “my new love”. The recipes, pictures and the descriptions of everything are incredible. You are such an inspiration! Today, we are going to make the veggie burgers and I had a quick question for you. In step two, you combine everything along with the flaxseed mixture but I’m not sure what the flaxseed mixture is. It is a combination of ground flax and a specific amount of water, correct? Thanks so much!
Hey Emily,
So happy you enjoy it! Thank you :)
My publisher made an error on the veggie burger recipe actually. The good news is that it works BOTH ways – the original recipe was supposed to have 3 tbsp ground flax mixed with 1/3 cup water, however I discovered if you make it as written (just using 1 tbsp ground flax and no other water) it does hold together fine. So it’s up to you! Enjoy
So excited! Postman just delivered my cookbook-on a Sunday. My husband is very afraid, haha, because it means I will be “torturing” him with new recipes ( he hasn’t completely bought into vegan yet). Thank you for keeping vegan fun
I hope mine comes soon. I pre-ordered from Chapters / Indigo in Canada and haven’t got a call yet that it’s in. :(
Kudos on your cookbook launch Angela! I have shared many of the treats made from the recipes posted on your blog with my friends and introduced them to a new nutritious lifestyle.
Rec’d your amazing book. My dau in law suggested i write down my top ten faves when i told her i didn’t know where to start since they all looked so delicious. So i sat down and
Ended up with my top 24 to begin with. Tonite had tex mex casserole. To die for. Even my meat eating hubby said to have the leftovers tomorrow. Unheard of! Only change i would make is crumbling the corn tortilla chips when serving. Can’t wait to make it for others!
Received my cookbook on Friday, March 7th and got busy over the weekend trying the recipes… best part is I had almost all the ingredients already. Love everything I have made so far! Definitely will be giving this book to friends and family. Beautiful cover too Angela; I have it on my cookbook stand for everyone to see!
Hi Angela!
I love your cookbook! I traveled to Texas this weekend and it was my plane read for both the departing and returning flight :) I can’t wait to try all the recipes, one of which already made it’s way into my meal prep today (Hello, Chia Pudding!). Quick question for you: I ordered the book through iBooks on Thursday (March 6) and I thought I would also receive the additional recipe bundle. How do I get that?? Thanks so much :)
The cookbook is beautiful! I love the forward and really, the entire format. The recipes look amazing, and the ingredients are obtainable even in my small town. Thank you!
Angela, Congratulations on the cookbook! I love the pictures and am excited to try out many of the new recipes. Most of the blog favorites in the cookbook are indeed our favorites; I guess that was point!
Does the revamped nut-free version of the favorite veggie burger not require flax egg, just ground flaxseed? The instructions indicate a flaxseed mixture but not sure if that is a flax-egg like the original recipe since it only calls for the flaxseed. Thanks!
Hey Lynette,
That was actually an error on my publisher’s part (somehow the line got deleted when it was off to the printers) – however, thankfully the recipe works both ways! I tested it this weekend. The original recipe uses 3 T ground flax + 1/3 cup water, however as I said the burgers will work as written (simply using 1 tbsp ground flax) hope this helps!
I just noticed the same question above and your response. With that, I’m good to go!
Hi Angela – I pre-ordered your book long, long ago and have to say it was worth the wait! So incredibly gorgeous!! I want to make everything!
I am planning to make the Almond Chocolate Chip cookies and wanted to know if I could just use store bought almond meal or is it better to buy almonds and blend them as the book instructs? Thanks!
Just went to order on Amazon and…sold out! Sad for me, but great news for you Angela! I can be patient until it gets back in stock! ;)
My coworker and I drool over your recipes all the time! Congratulations big time, Angela! I hope it tops the NY Times bestseller list! (non-fiction ;) )
I am sorry to hear about Sketchie. I am in animal rescue so I have been through intestinal lymphoma many times. Cancer is a strage thing. Some animals do very well & others do not. I can say that in additon to my regular vet I take my cancer cases to a holistic chinese medicine vet. I have found that it gives my animals longer. Also there are things at home that help.Astragulas, slippery elm bark is very good. Both can be found at the health food store. I also used Rutin as it helped keep the lymphatic system from leaking. You can give b-12 injections at home also (less stress than a trip to the vet). This may sound strange but my animals also have had accupuncture & reiki which helps the flow of the lmph system & relaxes them. My dog had lymphoma (not the same kind so don’t worry) and was given 9mo. He lived 24mo, almost un heard of. He had alot of Chinese herbs along with traditional treatment. I hope this makes you feel better. I will say a kitty prayer for little Sketchie.
I got the book in the mail a little while ago. Congrats! The recipes are great, but for your next book (hint hint), I am strongly suggesting more dinner type recipes. This one has a lot of drinks/smoothes and salads. It really needs some ‘umph’ type rib sticking meals for us hungry peoples! :)
I love your site Andrea.
Every time I make something and bring it to work, I’m always asked for the recipe.
Just picked up your book at Costco in Ottawa, looking forward too it.
Angela you are insanely talented. All of these pictures are beyond gorgeous and the food looks appetizing and appealing. Reading your blog was the reason why I started mine. Congratulations!!!
Hey, the Oh She Glows Cookbook arrived today in the UK!! over two weeks earlier than originally said. Delighted to come home from work and just sit down with such a lovely book. Thank you so much, Angela. I will enjoy it. And I hope Sketchie is feeling better every day.
The Marinated Balsamic Maple Garlic Tempeh *is* a game-changer: like Angela’s intro describes, I also assumed tempeh just wasn’t my thing, take it or leave it, simply don’t gravitate toward tempeh recipes – but this is INCREDIBLE. I cranked up the heat to 400ºF for the last 5 minutes, and it’s beautifully brown and juicy and caramelized. Delicious over brown rice and roasted greens. Picky omni pre-teen daughter said “that’s YUMMY! I can’t believe it’s vegan. It tastes like Panda Express.” Huge compliment from a rather critical gal….
It was so easy, and carried so much flavor, even after the minimum 2-hr soak, so I KNOW I’ll be making this again! Perfect for keeping on-hand for a quick meal/sandwich. Thank you. ♥
My lovely book arrived Friday and it’s soooooo with the wait! Today I had the roasted rainbow carrots and they were deeeelicious!!!! Really excited about the other recipes and I’m gonna do a modified “Julie & Julia” on it and strive to make 2 recipes a week!!! Keep up the good work :) xxx
Aw I love that idea! Good luck and thanks for your kind words! xo
Angela, just got my cookbook in the mail, a am sooooo excited! I’ve followed your blog for years now and LOVE every one of your recipes!!! Thank you, you are such an inspiration!!!
Congratulation! My copy arrived yesterday and I did a quick drooling read-through; later will get down to the business of COOKING.
In case you didn’t see it, on Amazon.com you are the cover picture for category of Cookbooks,Food&Wine for the “Best of March 2014” lists!

that’s wonderful news! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Angela, congrats!!! I received your book last week. As I am pregnant, I am kind of picky regarding food. But when I had your book in my handy and saw all the mouthwatering pics, I had to try some of the recipes. As always: FANTASTIC!!!
Your book is so, so beautiful. I love all your photographs! They are so vibrant and really make all the recipes come to life. I can’t wait to try, well, everything. :) Even the juicing section made me want to try making some and I’m not usually a fan of making my own juices. Thank you so much for all your work. Flavor bursting food making will be happening soon.
I just received my copy of your cookbook and I can’t wait to try a recipe! I went to the grocery last night so I am ready to go! Everything looks amazing! I can’t wait to make an appetizer for a party or just eat appetizers for dinner! The mushroom tart will likely be my favorite!
I was up to my elbows in the “One Bowl Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies” batter when your book finally arrived the other day! Funny! I’ve already made the “Festive Kale Salad with Sweet Apple-Cinnamon Vinaigrette and Pecan Parmesan”, “Ultimate Nutty Granola Clusters” and the “Roasted Rainbow Carrots with French Green Lentils and Sunflower Parsley Lemon Pesto” (bonus recipe bundle). Yippee!
Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration and creativity with us all.
Karen, Australia. :)
P.S. When my partner flicked through your book that evening he immediately drooled and excitedly declared you his “new hero!” X
My copy of your cookbook just arrived in the mail! The picture’s are beautiful, I can’t wait to try out the recipes!
I just received my copy in the mail last night. I haven’t had the opportunity to make any of the recipes but I have a big handful of “gotta try right away” recipes already. Just after one look-through.
The book itself is beautiful. The paper is comfortable in my hand. The font is great. The photographs are wonderful and crisp. I’m also in love with the fact that there is a beautiful full-page image of each recipe.
Though I haven’t had the time to actually make anything, I can see by the photos and the ingredients that everything is going to be outstanding. Just as recipes that I had made from the blog.
Buy it…you are going to be so impressed!
Linda, this means so much to me! Thank you so much. I will pass along your feedback to my publisher too. They will be thrilled to hear how much you enjoy the layout and design.
I just got 3 copies of your book, one for me and two for my vegan friends. It is huge. I didn’t expect that – and it is really wonderful. I am thrilled, thrilled to have it as every recipe of yours that I made has been great.
Congratulations and lucky me.
Thank you so much Deborah! I’m thrilled to hear this :)
Hi Angela!
Your new cookbook just arrived in the mail and I am SO excited to try all the new recipes! It is absolutely amazing!!
I was just wondering, does the Kindle version cost extra if I have already purchased the book? I pre-orded the book I have now from from Amazon a while ago.
It would be so nice to have a version for my iPad! Thank you very much.
I bought your cookbook on Tuesday from Barnes and Noble, and I must say it is the most amazing cookbook I have ever gotten! Everything I have made so far is a huge hit, the chickpea spread is amazing. We almost finished the whole batch off right after it was made!
My question. I just read about the bonus bundle. March 5th is already passed. Is there any way I can still get a copy of the bonus bundle???? I didn’t read about the bundle option until this morning.
Aw thank you Gail!
Yes we can hook you up – just email: [email protected] :)
My cookbook arrived today! I dived into reading it and give it 2 thumbs up! I can’t wait to start making these dishes. Happy!
Angela,
My order arrived today and I am tickled pink. I also did not know there was a bonus book offered. Is there any way I can obtain one? Thank you.
What a huge achievement, and so many great pic YUM!
Congratulations! Love all of your recipes and they are staples in our home! you are a true inspiration!
Hi Angela. I preordered your book a while ago and just received it last week and I must say its probably one of the best vegan cookbooks I’ve seen and own. I love the idea that each recipe has a picture so I actually have an idea what the dish will look like. I hate those books that have tons of recipes and no pictures at all …and I have to imagine how it will look like….
Great book, beautiful pictures and very inspiring. Love it. I already picked 3 recipes that I wanted to make this week!
Good luck!
Hi from Vancouver, BC :)
Got your gorgeous cookbook by mail earlier this week! I’m excited to have such a beautiful resource of healthy delicious cooking in my collection. So glad that I ordered it (and I’m not even vegan)
Aw thank you for you support! xo
Finally found the cook book at Barnes and Noble – one word – AMAZING! Everything looks beautiful, nothing is complicated and recipes are typically for 1,2 or 3 – (cuz how often are you really cooking for 10!) Thanks for all of your hard work!
Thank you Linda, I’m so happy to hear this!
i am trying to buy it, but it seems to be sold out or not availabloe on this side of the pond (netherlands) but i will keep trying, i will own the book :D
Angela,
I pre-ordered your book after spending the past year learning about new ways to eat vegan from your blog. I have already made your staple marinara sauce, the baked oatmeal, and the fresh chickpea salad. Having read your post about Sketchie as well, I was hoping it would cheer you up to know that my meat-eating, junk food hoarding husband loved the chickpea salad so much that he went out and bought a whole second round of ingredients right away just so we could make two batches for our work lunches for the week. It is phenomenal and refreshing, and the other recipes are just amazing as well!! I look forward to cooking through pretty much everything in the book, and now my husband is excited to try all of it. Kudos on the cookbook and on the brilliant ability that you have to transform a seemingly bland pile of vegetables into phenomenal cuisine!
I love this book. It’s more than just recipes, it’s a story and after reading through most of it, I feel like I know you. Is that weird? Does anyone else feel that way?! Hello?!
Anyway… I bought this online through B&N and ended up buying two. Honestly I have no idea why, but I’m so glad I did. I gifted one to my younger sister who is going away for college in Fall. I didn’t know what to expect but she absolutely loves it! She went crazy flagging pages with sticky notes! I’m happy to see her so inspired, it’s a beautiful look for her. We are both so glad to see Hispanic staples in your recipes (cilantro, tomato, avocado, yes!) the recipes are not intimidating, I don’t get tired just reading each step and the photos make every dish look incredibly gourmet but achievable!!! Ah. Thanks for starting this blog and writing your book.
Thank you Samantha! I’m grinning from ear to ear. :) I truly appreciate all your support and enthusiasm for the cookbook. And what a lovely idea to gift a copy to your sis!
Angela, congratulations! I was just telling my sister (who has already made eight recipes from your book! for a seventeen year old with senior-itis, that’s very impressive!) …where was i.. oh yeah, I was just telling my sister that I can’t wait for you to have a baby! I know that might sound weird but as a mother of two wild and amazing boys, three and four years old, I would love to see the recipes you will eventually be forced to conjure up for babies and toddlers. green monsters in a sippy cup? why not, right? my kids love it! so happy for you. wishing you and eric the best!
Those pictures are driving me wild! This is my favorite vegan food blog and your book is at the top of my list for when a) I finally have a bit of money or b) someone expresses interest in buying me something. Haha I can’t wait to read and try all the new recipes!
Just wanted to say how much your website helped me changed my life. Six months ago, I weighed over 500 pounds when I decided to adopt the Forks over Knives philosophy. Of all the websites yours is the best!!! That you have such beautiful pictures and shared so many great recipes. Even, though I have a bookshelf filled with cookbooks already, I bought your book to support you continuing this practice on this awesome blog. Thanks for being an Angel(a) to all your devoted readers.
Hi David, Wow, I’m so inspired by your story!!! Truly remarkable. I’m so happy to hear you are enjoying so many of my recipes. Thank you for this feedback. It really helps make what I do so meaningful. I wish you all the best on your journey to health!
I’ve been meaning to comment on this for over a week now, but the longer I wait, the more things I can rave about! I’m LOVING your book, Angela! The spiced red lentil-kale soup was truly all I wanted to eat while I had a cold last week. It was so nourishing and delicious. The empowered noodle bowl with the thai peanut sauce is soooo yummy. I rarely go for seconds at a meal, but the first night we made this I went for fourths. Fourths! My hubbie and I especially love that the veggies are raw instead of sautéed. Most recently, we made the nutty granola and can’t keep our hands off it. It smells so good and fills the kitchen with a lovely cinnamon-vanilla aroma. Seriously good stuff.
Congrats, Angela! The book is really wonderful and I can’t wait to start gifting it to my friends and clients. : ) I have a question: what’s the difference between the seed and oat flatbread and the super-power chia bread?
