This Is Not A Real Post

by Angela (Oh She Glows) on August 26, 2011

[Do you see the new blog header? If not, hold down the ‘Control’ key and ‘F5’ key at the same time to refresh your page if you aren’t seeing the new header.]

When the seasons change, I’m often motivated to change as well. I purge clutter, enjoy new seasonal food kicks, and break out a to-do list before succumbing to disorganization in 3 days time. Ah, it’s great.

The other day I was reading an article about improving the appearance of a blog. It said, ‘If your website had no text at all, would people know what your blog was about?’

I imagined my blog without text. All that was left was a creepy, glow-y profile picture circa 2008. Yikes.

It was kind of like looking back on my Grade 2 picture seeing myself with a side pony tail and a scrunchie.

Oh wow. Thanks Mom?

I’d like to think this new header is clean, fresh, and seasonal. Aside from my dying basil plant, I was able to grow these vegetables in my garden this summer (the picture, however, is from 2010).

My plan is to create a new header for each season shooting local and seasonal produce. So if you hate this one, it’s only going to be around for about a month. For Fall, you’ll probably see gourds, squash, pumpkins, candy corn, apples, etc.

For Winter, you’ll probably see snow, ice, and extremely unflattering winter boots circa 1994. For Spring, dirt and mud. You get the idea.

This header was a close second with a new and improved tagline…

My third idea was a Chocolate Chunk Toffee Bar dipped into a Green Monster. It demonstrated a lovely balance of health and indulgence, but perhaps not the most photogenic header of all time.

PS- Photoshop owns my soul.

I thought it would be fun to have a discussion about blog headers today. What makes a great blog header? For bloggers: Did you design yours or have someone design it? What do you love about your header or want to change? Feel free to link to your blog in the comments.

Love that you’ll be updating your blog header with the seasons. LOVE it. :)

Chocolate-Covered Katie August 26, 2011 at 10:27 am

Photoshop is evil and can literally steal your day from you!
I love the new header. It is vibrant and beautiful. But I can’t say I’m not partial to your close second.

Wonder why… ;)

Holly @ The Runny Egg August 26, 2011 at 10:27 am

I love that you’ll have a new header for each season — that is something I love about Pioneer Woman — her blog header always makes me smile!

I made my own in Microsoft Paint. And it shows!

Kristi August 26, 2011 at 10:28 am

Love the new header! But I think it should be wider :)
p.s. just made your vegan choc. cupcakes last night (whole-wheat) with pink frosting & chocolate chips for my toddler’s birthday (we are not vegan, but she has severe allergies to milk, egg, & peanuts). Your website & recipes have been a blessing, thank you!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:32 am

Thanks Kristi :) Glad you enjoyed the cupcakes!

caitlin (questforfitness) August 26, 2011 at 10:28 am

I love the new header! Very clean and sharp

Erin August 26, 2011 at 10:29 am

mmmmmmmm chocolate…..

Colleen August 26, 2011 at 10:31 am

I love the new header – it looks great.

jess @ cupcakes and kale August 26, 2011 at 10:31 am

love the new look! although, i do still love your glowing self in the old one!
a friend of mine surprised me and gifted me the design of my header which i love. {that little kale leaf popping out of the cupcake is my favourite!} i like the idea of switching it up and might do that at some point too…

Beach Bum Beauty August 26, 2011 at 10:31 am

Love your new header but now you’ve got me thinking about mine….if I had no text nobody would have the foggiest idea what my blog is about. My blog is and I need a new header :-s

Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers August 26, 2011 at 10:32 am

the new header looks great, angela! i’m getting the “new header itch” myself. if only i had your photoshop skillzz!

Ashley August 26, 2011 at 10:32 am

I think blog headers should be something eye-catching, that will pull the reader in. I love the idea of seasonal headers, because the produce is so vibrant, and incredibly eye-catching. As for my own blog header, well now, it’s incredibly basic and kind of boring, to be honest. As a journalist, I learned a lot of blended media in school but never put it to good use, so eventually I’ll get around to using Photoshop and other tools to make it stand out more. Right now, it’s just a pretty pic of some flowers my boyfriend took, haha.

Beautiful headers! I love the first one:)

Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) August 26, 2011 at 10:37 am

I LOVE your header!!! Since I’m no Photoshop pro like you, and I’m not happy with my current header, I’m getting one designed as we speak hehe ;)

Suzie August 26, 2011 at 10:38 am

This is so odd, I literally have my picture album open and paint (i can’t handle photoshop!) and was debating my header. As a new blogger I wasn’t sure what I wanted my header to be so i wacked a picture together and put my blog name on it.

I enjoy the idea of you changing with seasons and i’m all behind you for the oh she glows, eat chocolate ;)

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat August 26, 2011 at 10:40 am

I think the bar dipped in green monster would have been perfect LOL! But like you said, maybe not so photogenic. I made my header with a smoothie photo I took, and with the help of Picnik. I think a good header gives some sort of insight into what the blog is about, and it definitely helps if it’s got some sort of bright colour popping off of the screen (but not in a blinding way!) I love yours!

Laura August 26, 2011 at 10:40 am

Love it!

Radha August 26, 2011 at 10:40 am

Nice new header! Good idea to change it seasonally. <3

lynn @ the actor's diet August 26, 2011 at 10:42 am

noticed the new header right away – lovely!

[email protected] KatieDid August 26, 2011 at 10:42 am

I really like your new header, its very clean and simple. I designed my own… and by design my own I guess I mean I used a picture I took myself and typed some words over it. But I think it represents my blog fairly well!

Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover! August 26, 2011 at 10:43 am

I designed my own! I think if anything it may be a bit cluttered, but it definitely hints to what the blog is about. Loving the new look :-)

Megan @ The Detoxinista August 26, 2011 at 10:45 am

I love the new header! I like to change mine seasonally, too– I’m also addicted to playing with Photoshop!! (surprising, since it’s what I do for a living… you’d think I’d get sick of it!) ;)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:47 am

it is VERY fun to play with, I’d have to agree! and picking fonts from free font websites :)

Natalie August 26, 2011 at 10:45 am

I love your idea to change seasonally. For some reason it was strangely exciting to land on your blog and see the header was different!

Can’t wait to see the pumpkins!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:47 am

Im glad you are excited! heh

Maria August 26, 2011 at 10:46 am

Great mind think alike, Angela! I JUST changed my header last night to a fall themed one (who cares if it’s only August!). I used four photos that represent things I love and fall at the same time (pumpkins, warm bread, yellow aspen tree leaves, and my Vibrams in crunchy leaves). I am not the Photoshop whiz like yourself and I magically threw it together using Picasa. I also love changing my color scheme, which is now burnt green for links. Oh aren’t blogs fun?

So yeah, a good header catches your eye but doesn’t take away from the words. Afterall, I usually read blogs for the content and the pictures of chocolate, so don’t ever give those up :)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:48 am

your header is lovely…cozy and warm :)

Natalcho @ Tomatoes Rock August 26, 2011 at 10:47 am

Aaahh, the great header debate! I’ve spent so much time thinking about mine that I am still stuck with a bright red template sourced background and a picture of me with a filo pastry…it’s tough!

I love the new header! But it sort of changes the whole colour scheme and I really love your blue and white mix. The basil is very cute as well though:)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:49 am

I like the blue and white too, but I guess I can always bring it back at some point :)

Natalcho @ Tomatoes Rock August 26, 2011 at 11:08 am

I am on a search for blue and white vegetables for you:) Although I am not sure I’ve seen that type of blue on anything edible….maybe an edible flower for your summer header?

I love the new header!

Lizzie August 26, 2011 at 10:50 am

I want to lodge a complaint about this post. Why did you have to post that photo of the chocolate torte??? Now it just reminds me that I need to make it again – ASAP! :) Actually, I have a feeling there might be some squirreled away in plastic wrap in the freezer . . .

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 10:57 am

Cait @ Cait hates Cake August 26, 2011 at 10:51 am

I like the new header!! I liked the old one too, but I know change is sometimes nice! My header is a work in progress. The technical side of a blog comes easy for me (I’m an IT professional), it’s the design aspect that I find difficult. But I’m creating it on my own because I’m like a stubborn 2 year old I want to do everything by myself ;)

Ashley August 26, 2011 at 10:52 am

I love changing my header with the seasons, although I’m usually about 1-2 months behind. Oops! It’s so nice to have something new pop up at the top! I don’t think a header needs to stay constant either, but there should be one aspect that stays the same so people always know it’s “your” blog. For instance, font, or a certain color…etc. But that’s just my silly opinion. ;) You did a great job! Love photoshop. :)

Claire @ Live and Love to Eat August 26, 2011 at 10:54 am

Pretty seasonal change! I am too tech-illiterate to worry too much about my page’s appearance.

Becca August 26, 2011 at 10:54 am

The new header is awfully pretty, but I’ll admit that I am going to miss the old header. I thought it was wonderfully unique: the shiny backdrop, the side photo of you looking at your title, the coloring combo, and even the size of it was different (it seemed larger than most other blog headers). But the main reason why your old header was unique is because it didn’t have pictures of food in it. Almost every food blog has food pictured in the header, but I personally find Oh She Glows to be about way more than food (you talk about careers, renovations, eating disorders, inspirations, books, girly-stuff organization, fitness, etc), and that’s why I thought a food-less header was suiting.

Nonetheless, the new header is (and will be as the seasons change) very attractive.

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 11:10 am

Thanks for your comment! I debated about many of those things too when thinking about changing it. It probably won’t always be food related here on out, but for now, I like how my plant based diet is reflected in the ‘glow theme’ as it deserves credit in impacting many areas of my life.

Marie August 26, 2011 at 10:54 am

Love the new header. I’m just curious what font you used. :)

Annie @ Naturally Sweet Recipes August 26, 2011 at 10:56 am

I totally agree about the photoshop thing! You think you’ll just be there a second, and all of sudden 3 hours have past! I’m still playing around with options for my header, but like designing it, so it’s okay (as long as I accept the fact that I spend a lot of time on it!).
And I love you header! It looks great! :)

Kathryn (Flopoodle) August 26, 2011 at 10:56 am

LOVE this idea! It’ll be fun to mix it up and seasons are the perfect time to do that. Looking forward to the next one!

Mama Pea August 26, 2011 at 10:58 am

I love your new header…beautiful!

marci August 26, 2011 at 11:00 am

Very nice and simple. I designed my own with help from the Picnik website. I’ve changed it a few times over the past 1.5 years when I get bored with it. One day I want to learn Photoshop skills!

Carissa August 26, 2011 at 11:02 am

I love the new header!! (Though, I didn’t think of the old one as “creepy and glowy”) I also have a wonderfully flattering grade two photo where I’m wearing a side pony and a matching baby pink skirt and top…made from sweatpant material. Classy.

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 11:07 am

haha I used to have that top Im pretty sure. twins?

Kris | August 26, 2011 at 11:08 am

You are so creative, love!!

I love the idea of doing your own you headers…I have done my own, but with rebranding I Heart Wellness now, we are having it professionally done ;)

I love your ideas always!!!

Carolyn August 26, 2011 at 11:11 am

I love this idea, and this current header! Very colorful, pretty, and luscious. ^^

Sarah @ Recipe Love August 26, 2011 at 11:11 am

Love it! I’m not a huge fan of mine (I think it’s too big, among other things), but I did it myself and I’m very new to it.

carly {carlyklock} August 26, 2011 at 11:12 am

Love this idea! And what a great question – not sure I’d be left with any imagery to portray the content of my blog, either. Hmmmm….

Looking forward to the fall header!

Erin @ The Grass Skirt August 26, 2011 at 11:15 am

The idea of a seasonal blog header is genius! I wish that I had thought of it myself! I actually loved your old one, but this new look is even better. By the way, I just hit the refresh button and was able to see it. I cannot wait to see the other headers!

Lauren @ What Lauren Likes August 26, 2011 at 11:16 am

I love the idea of changing it up now and then! The new header is fab! I love the grade 2 pic btw, it takes a real woman to rock a srunchie. ;)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 11:21 am

Cait's Plate August 26, 2011 at 11:17 am

HAHA! I love that picture :) I have many similar ones from that age. LOVE the new header, seriously – it’s beautiful!

Anna August 26, 2011 at 11:18 am

I miss seeing your face in the header – because your blog is about so much more than vegetables :-)

Rebecca August 26, 2011 at 11:25 am

I love the new header! And the thought of a pumpkin one coming up makes me happy :)
I designed my own blog and did my header on (because this poor college student can’t afford photoshop!) but I definitely feel like it’s still a work in progress. It’s hard, time-consuming work!

Allison August 26, 2011 at 11:26 am

At first I was thinking that I liked the old header, but when you mentioned changing with the seasons I was sold! Can’t wait for falls’ header!

Alexia (Dimple Snatcher) August 26, 2011 at 11:26 am

this one is nice BUT I miss the old one and found it more personal with your face and all.

eef August 26, 2011 at 11:26 am

i love that you’re changing your header with the seasons! i’ve been pondering a new blog header too (just re-designed my website, except for the header). i’m just not sure what i want. it’s a lot harder than it should be!

Jazz August 26, 2011 at 11:29 am

I love the new header! Don’t do the chocolate one! I’m hungry already..

Mary (What's Cookin' with Mary) August 26, 2011 at 11:31 am

My header is just the title of my blog… wishing I was as skilled at you at photo-shopping myself a new header! I love the idea of having seasonal pictures. Great idea Ange.

Krissy @ Make It Naked August 26, 2011 at 11:34 am

Love it! I think clean and simple is key. I’m in the process of redoing mine and I’m working with someone because I don’t know how to do what I envisioned. Looks great!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:05 pm

I love your header (and photography style!) I’ve been trying to make my own photography more simple and less cluttered. There is something to be said for a clean slate.

Krissy @ Make It Naked August 26, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Thanks so much! I feel limited with my point and shoot but I’m learning as I go and hope to get a DSLR eventually. I really didn’t think I’d love blogging as much as I do and I think I’m ready to make the plunge!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 6:01 pm

Wow that’s a point and shoot? Fooled me!

Krissy @ Make It Naked August 27, 2011 at 7:46 am

Haha. Thanks. Meant to tell you I made your chocolate chip cookie dough balls III (with almond flour to make GF) at least 4 times in one week at our beach vacation. They were such a hit that people were offering to go buy more ingredients if I’d make them again!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 27, 2011 at 10:48 am

Glad they were a hit! :) Good to know about the almond flour too :)

kaila @ healthy helper! August 26, 2011 at 11:34 am

i love the new header and i loooove the idea of changing it seasonally! always nice to see something new and fresh!

Shay August 26, 2011 at 11:43 am

I love the new header! Although I liked being greeted by your smiling face with each visit, I think the new header represents your site and YOU! Not that you didn’t…er….represent yourself before…

lindsay August 26, 2011 at 11:46 am

i love it! headers are suppose to give a little bit of your character and this totally does! I just changed mine as well.

Gypsy August 26, 2011 at 11:46 am

As long as you change it up with pictures of you as well – and maybe Sketchie too!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:03 pm

Sketchie would make a fun header…hehe, but I may be biased:
now that’s a header!

Dottie August 26, 2011 at 11:47 am

I loved your old header but this one is definitely more user friendly to help firgure out what you and the blog are all about. I created mine myself and I was thinking of showing all the things that make me a happy girl, but honestly, the happiest day of my life was my wedding day so I just took some of my favorite pics from that. I have been toying with the idea of changing it with the season too. Besides, it’s fun to create them. :)

Lauren August 26, 2011 at 11:47 am

haha you are hilarious and I love the idea of changing the header each season! Looks great around here as usual!

Donna @ Life of a Happy Blonde August 26, 2011 at 11:51 am

I adore the new header!!!
Fresh veggies are pefect for this season
Mine pretty much sums me and the blog up, happy blonde = photo of me smiling while traveling which is my most favourite thing to do!

Jackie @ That Deep Breath August 26, 2011 at 11:56 am

Love the new header! I created my own. I was exploring having a professional make mine, but it was really expensive and I didn’t think it was the right time to spend money on that. Maybe someday!

Shayla @ The Good Life August 26, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Love love this header! It’s clean and simple and I absolutely love the idea of changing it with the seasons, but still having the same concept. Genius! :)

I created by own with pictures of myself with the hubby, but I definitely want to change it. Not sure yet to what since my blog is about what living “The Good Life” means to my husband and I….I think it should still incorporate pictures of us but have it more refined and clean looking…we’ll see!

Leanne (Bride to Mrs.) August 26, 2011 at 12:00 pm

I love the new header… I think you should keep it for good!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:04 pm

well if my Fall one sucks then it just might stay! ;)

Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance August 26, 2011 at 12:05 pm

Great idea to change the header with the seasons :) I designed my own, but haven’t decided if I’m 100% happy with it JUST yet…

Dawn August 26, 2011 at 12:14 pm

I like the new header. It does explain what your blog is about. Change is a good thing. I think my header explains things well but I guess I am a little partial because I really like the way my blog looks :)

Laura August 26, 2011 at 12:16 pm

I need a new header! I’m not good with photoshop though.

Alison August 26, 2011 at 12:25 pm

hehe the eat chocolate is hilarious! I love it! I love the new header as well! very colorful!

Marcy August 26, 2011 at 12:26 pm

I like your new header, and the seasonal idea is fun. I designed my header and am pretty happy with it, but when I first saw the push-ups picture I thought I looked super dorky. I guess I do, but I think it works :)

thehealthyapron August 26, 2011 at 12:27 pm

I LOVE your new header and I think it was a much needed improvement! You’re right, when you head to a blog or website, you want to know what it’s about right away! This one is perfect! I actually had ashley from edible perspective design my header. I love it, but also feel ready for something different. Can you give a step by step of how you created your own?

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:52 pm

Well the hardest part was choosing a picture!
I tried to choose something very clean looking that would give me space to have text without overlapping.
Once I had the picture, I had to make sure it could be cropped into the right size that fit my current header (although I did make it a bit less tall as recommended by Eric).
After that I looked for fonts online, opened the file in photoshop and got to work trying all kinds of fonts and colours. I tried red, purple, orange, green, blue colours for the text and green looked best to pull from the basil.
I gave the words a ‘glow effect’ by playing with the ‘outer glow’ setting under the blending options.
Hope this helps :)
Photoshop isn’t something I’m skilled at but Ive been playing with it on and off for the past 3 years and it gets a bit easier overtime.
It also helps to Google the question you have with Photoshop…I do that a lot and I find video tutorials especially helpful.

Amber K August 26, 2011 at 12:31 pm

I love how the header totally changes the look of the blog. There are definitely headers on blogs I like way more than others, but most of all I like them to look clean. While I liked your last header, I really like this one as well. And I love the idea of changing it up for the different seasons.

Svetlana August 26, 2011 at 12:37 pm

I am a little dramatized but I will get over it! I guess I loved the previous header! :)

The new one is so fresh and ‘clean’ looking, beautiful!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I know it’s a shock right!

Svetlana August 26, 2011 at 1:17 pm

Yes it is! But in a good way! I love your blog!! :) Thank you!

Moni'sMeals August 26, 2011 at 12:41 pm

I love it! I like the idea of changing it up with the seasons, way to stay authentic!

I like the chocolate one too. EAT CHOCOLATE…. ahhhh, OK!

Jessica August 26, 2011 at 12:45 pm

I love this, too! To be honest your old one was lovely but sort of one of those things my husband would look over my shoulder on the couch and be like… what ARE you reading…? This one explains itself :) Changing with the seasons is a great way to keep things fresh & inspiring too!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I know exactly what you mean!

Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco August 26, 2011 at 12:46 pm

NIce new header. I REALLY need to do some design on the blog. Is anyone a graphic designer? Please look at the contact page on my blog if you’re interested! (Thanks for the inspiration, Angela!)

Ashley August 26, 2011 at 12:47 pm

Love the new header, and the idea of changing pictures with the seasons! My husband is a graphic designer so he made my header. I don’t know what I would have done without him! I think a good header is one that is unique, sleek, and not too busy, but those are just my preferences! You hit the mark!

Susan August 26, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I love seasonal headers! Why not have some fun with it? Mine is currently just my blog name. I’ve had fancier ones over the years, but in the end my eyes like something that’s clean and crisp best. Plus, I want something that doesn’t pop out *too* much on a computer screen for those who like to sneak in blog reading at work ;)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 12:54 pm

ah, very good point about work reading ;)

Stephenie Zamora August 26, 2011 at 12:57 pm

I like this new header! I did like your glowing picture before… it told me it was about you, but not about food. My site header has my name tagline and a photo of me with some extra fluff to show my style and personality. I designed it myself since I’m a graphic designer who creates websites for clients, so if anyone needs help, pop on over and say hi!

You take such beautiful photos, I know your headers will always rock! xo

Tracy @ Tracy's Treats August 26, 2011 at 1:10 pm

I love this blog header. I think it emphasizes what’s making you glow!

As an amateur blogger, I’m still in the process of changing my header around every so often.

Rachel August 26, 2011 at 1:20 pm

I loved your previous blog header! But I love this new one too – it’s clean, fresh, and it compliments your blog’s emphasis on healthy recipes well!

I’m such a newbie that I’m still playing around with my blog header… Just like I’m playing around with what exactly my blog’s focus is, lol!

Candy @ Healthy in Candy Land August 26, 2011 at 1:20 pm

I love the new header! I just have to ask though–I’ve always wanted to and never have–what was the background of your previous header? I would find myself staring at it and could never figure it out. (Clearly I have too much time on my hands. Or something.) I look forward to the seasonal changes!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 1:33 pm

It was shot on my honeymoon in Athens in front of this really cool cave.

Bethany August 26, 2011 at 1:22 pm

I love the side pony!!…

In other news, I really think it’s a great move for you to keep everything fresh & interesting by incorporating and paying homage to the seasons. One of our best and not always achievable goals is to eat totally sesasonally, right? :0)

I agree that the cake might be dynamite with the new tag line. It’s perfect for us chocoholics. But then again, it might incite too many cravings and turn into a health epidemic… Good idea to stick to the veggies! Can’t wait to see the fall banner! (I’m craving pumpkin like crazy!)

Bethany August 26, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Oh–and you have beautiful photography, so why not feature it so prominently every season with a new banner!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I agree and I think it will be a great reminder for me to eat more seasonally!

Lisa August 26, 2011 at 1:25 pm

Great idea to change with the seasons. The content changes, so why not the images?

Celina August 26, 2011 at 1:28 pm

I miss seeing your glowing smile in the header. Seasonal produce is beautiful but it just doesnt compare to your original header :)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 1:30 pm

You are too sweet! Thanks for the smile.

Veggie V! @Veggie V's Vegan Adventure August 26, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I haven’t been blogging long, although I’ve been reading blogs for a long, long time, but I’m also in the process of changing the look of my blog. I didn’t read the article you did, but I kind of had the same idea: Can people tell what my blog is about just from the front page?

I’m not a very good photographer. I might be the only food blogger w/ out an interest in photography. I do own an older point-and-shoot digital camera, but I usually just take pics w/ my phone (terrible, I know!). So…using my own photo for a header might not be the best idea! LOL I used an image/word generating website to produce a few decent options, and I’ve been spreading them around the net (blog header, Gravatar image, new blog identifyer, Twitter, FB, SU). It’s a way more involved process than I expected!

I like the new header. I like how the words glow. And I like the idea of changing the header every season. With your large reader base, you can ‘afford’ to change it up (meaning, they don’t need a brand identify to feel connected). Keep ’em comin’ ;-)

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table August 26, 2011 at 1:29 pm

I just used a picture a friend took as my header… I don’t really know HOW to design one. I’d love a “how to” post. :)

The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh August 26, 2011 at 1:30 pm

I like the header but I’ll miss seeing you! Maybe in full blown Fall you could have a pic of you holding a basket of fruits and veggies with the changing leaves behind you or in a cornucopia? (The fruits and veggies, not you in the cornucopia unless of course you’re feeling like jamming yourself in one. Can you tell 1) I’m so in need of a weekend and 2) I’m ready for Fall like yesterday!?)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 1:32 pm

hah love that. I’m afraid it would look super cheese ball!

The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh August 26, 2011 at 9:46 pm

Only if half of you is popping out of the cornucopia juggling turnips, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and baby pumpkins! But hey, what a traffic draw for a month! :-) (Because longer than a month would just be wrong! LOL)

Laura August 26, 2011 at 1:40 pm

Your shirt in the grade 2 picture is baller! Also, the new banner is a delight. Kinda making me crave tomato sauce!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 2:55 pm

lol @ baller!!

Miriam August 26, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I like change. I like the vibrant color and the freshness of the food, it makes me want to grab a red onion ;)

becca @ bellebottoms August 26, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I love the header! So fresh and clean (now I’m singing the outcast song….shoot….)

I also love the “seasons” theme…it’s cool how your blog will REALLY reflect your eating!! when you change your food with the changing seasons…your blog changes too! love it!

Rebecca @ How the Cookies Crumble August 26, 2011 at 1:51 pm

I absolutely *love* the new header! Sad to hear it will only be here a short while. It’s fresh and unique!

Katie @ Peace Love and Oats August 26, 2011 at 1:57 pm

I only started my blog three weeks ago, so I don’t have a fancy header (honestly, I wasn’t sure I could keep it up past a week, but I’m having so much fun with it!). Mine is the just the name of my blog! I like your idea of changing it for the seasons though, very fun!

Kristen @ Popcorn on the Stove August 26, 2011 at 2:05 pm

Love the new header. It’s very fresh!

Mandy August 26, 2011 at 2:07 pm

The header is lovely. You’re rocking that ponytail. My mom did the same style on me, except she twisted the tail into this weird roll thing while it was wet. Somehow it would stay that way all day – like a big red cocoon on the side of my face. Ah, the good old days.

My header is self-designed (our souls are held hostage by the same fabulous software). And I love it. I learned how to use the path tool just so I could make it. It’s amazing. I use that tool for all kinds of things now. Including my recent “Screw the noble reasons. I just wanna look great naked” photo/reason for wanting to lose weight/ad thingy at Jack Fit.

By the way, for a “not a real post,” this one sure seems like a good one. ;)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 2:59 pm

That hairdo sounds killer!!! Wish I could see a pic :)

Cat @Breakfast to Bed August 26, 2011 at 2:12 pm

i hate mine. I designed it. I love meals and miles and pb fingers header.

Sabrina @ Radioactive Runner August 26, 2011 at 2:15 pm

LOVE the new header!! It looks so… fresh!!! love it!!

Roanne August 26, 2011 at 2:19 pm

It looks good! :)

Hayley @ Oat Couture August 26, 2011 at 2:19 pm

I don’t mind mine but it’s uber simple and from a free wordpress site… can’t wait to upgrade and get my hands on it a bit! :)

melody polakow: Vegan for 3.33 a day August 26, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I like my header… but I get bored and change it around every now and then

Cammie Hronek August 26, 2011 at 2:33 pm

LOVE the new header!! I just did the same with my blog… must be the anticipation for a new season :) Can’t wait to see all the cool things you will be able to do with seasonal headers!

Kim August 26, 2011 at 2:37 pm

I’m actually so glad you changed your header because I read your blog everyday at work and I have to kind of minimize my browser in a way so your picture doesn’t show – people will then definitely know I’m reading personal blogs at work!

Also side ponytails are still in imho! :D

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Yea I could definitely see that! Glad this one is a bit more discreet :)

Gina @ Running to the Kitchen August 26, 2011 at 2:41 pm

love the new header. That’s a great tip, I’m glad mine does in fact reflect what my blog is about if it had no text! Good test though :)
I really would like to update mine with better pictures though but I’m ridiculously horrible at technology so this scares me and I refuse to pay for any more blog services for at least a couple of months after a self host switch, buying domains, buying hosts, and redesign!
I’m excited to see your new headers with the seasons!

Christine @ Merf In Progress August 26, 2011 at 2:42 pm

I totally agree with change. My header shows water I think. Kind of generic but it is a photo that I took, plus really, water represents a lot of very important things — life, change, flow…

Sarah E August 26, 2011 at 2:48 pm

ok. i know i don’t know you personally, but your voice is just so real it’s like i DO! and you make me laugh. especially in this post. :D

also — i’m making the delicious chilled chocolate mousse for my 5th anniversary tonight per my husband’s request!! we both love it and use every occasion as an excuse to make it!

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Happy 5th Anniversary!! :)

Kate August 26, 2011 at 3:02 pm

I love the new header! It really captures what your blog is all about. You are such an inspiration, thank you for everything you do!

stephanie August 26, 2011 at 3:19 pm

love the idea of changing with the seasons

Meghan August 26, 2011 at 3:26 pm

K, I read your blog regularly (rarely comment :)). And I think you’ve got a great blog, but I have to share something I’ve been holding in, and I figure now’s the time to share it- I’m not a huge fan of the design. I’m a web designer so I can’t help myself! I’m not trying to be negative, but just constructive… :)… take it or leave it :)…

Would be good to have your top menu be the same width as your header image, it looks strange to have links going over the edges. Also, the font… I know the blog is “Oh She Glows” (love the name!) but I don’t think the actual words need to be glowing… I would take that PS effect off :). In general, its always good to have type faces in their most natural state for optimal legibility and clarity of message. Less is more, as they say. Overall, I think It would make your site much cleaner and more sophisticated. And you seem like a sophisticated lady :). And your wonderful content definitely deserves an equally wonderful design!

Just a couple tips! I know you didn’t really ask, but as long as we were on the subject, I couldn’t help myself…

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 4:16 pm

Thanks for your input Meghan!
One of the things I wanted to change was the header at the top not lining up. Still working on little kinks like that, if only there was more time in the day to do everything I wanted on the site.
I agree that the words look cleaner and more professional when not ‘glowing’ too- I compared the two and noted that myself, but I just couldn’t resist. ;)

Meghan August 26, 2011 at 5:01 pm

I know, it must be a ton of work keeping up a blog, so I can imagine a lot of the little details pile up. I’ve always wanted to start one, but I never seem to make the time to actually get it together. It’s a lot of work and I admire what you’ve done!

Jenny @ Simply August 26, 2011 at 6:14 pm

This reminds me of a quote that a prof in an electronic-publishing course I took used to say (all the time) “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” :) I admit, I ‘did’ (and still do?) more often than I should have!

Tania August 26, 2011 at 3:26 pm

I’m so sorry but I’m not a fan of the new header :( it’ll never stop me from visiting though!! I just think the lighting is so much prettier and fresher in the original and chocolate headers. But of course, to each their own!! Looking forward to the next header! :)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 4:17 pm

No offense taken Tania. lucky for you it’s only up for about a month or so! ;)

elise August 26, 2011 at 3:30 pm

you should definitely incorporate that old school photo into a header. hahaha….you know we all have those…your mom was nice enough to keep yours close by so we could all enjoy it :)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 7:32 pm

now that would be a header!

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 26, 2011 at 3:32 pm

Oh this post is SO TIMELY!! for me!!!

I have been working on another blog project and website project (i have it linked in the signature line of my emails if you want to check it out) but have single-handedly created a new webiste AND a new blog. And both of them need proper headers.

And then loveveggiesandyoga needs a new header, too.

So in the past week or so, it’s become apparent that I need THREE new headers. Two of which can be the same, I guess and tie in the theme.

I need someone who isn’t going to charge me hundreds and hundreds of dollars to do it! And who ‘gets’ my style and vibe.

Love that you made yours in PS. I am a big Lightroom girl and really am clueless about PS :(

The veggie one…rocks!! Great work!

Melissa @ Vegan CacaoBee August 26, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Love your new header. I love the runner-up too :) Thanks for sharing about the article! I can’t change my header, but I can add pictures elsewhere. I love the school picture of you too by the way. I can’t tell you how many years I had a side ponytail + a scrunchie in my school pictures. It was probably most of them from grades 1-6. Yikes! I cringe. Have a great day!

Julie August 26, 2011 at 4:17 pm

I love the new header. It’s super crisp!

KatieG. @ Just Roll With It August 26, 2011 at 4:23 pm

I love it, and I am the same way, always re-arranging and organizing…change is a good thing! Love the colors!

Dutchgirl Sam August 26, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Realy like your new header. It’s fresh and I think your idea of changing in every season is fun! That said, I also miss seeing your picture.

Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles August 26, 2011 at 4:29 pm

I made the headers for both of my blogs with photoshop! I needed something quickly once I got my blog up and running, but I’m thinking it needs an update as well =)

Love the fresh veggies on yours!

Holly @ August 26, 2011 at 4:35 pm

I was lucky enough to have a friend of the family design my header :) I like the new header I think it looks nice and fresh!

Ali @ Around the VeggieTable August 26, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Awesome! Love the new header and the idea to change it seasonally :) My fiance is a graphic designer so he does all my blog stuff for free! We are in the middle of redesigning my blog right now and I have so many ideas of what the header photo should be it’s hard to narrow it down!

Lauren (PB&G) August 26, 2011 at 5:16 pm

I loved your other header because of how serene it made me feel when I opened your page! This header is great, too. I love the group of yummy fresh veggies!

Your site always looks so clean and fresh!

Emily August 26, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I liked your old header! But only because you could see your face – you’re an important part of this blog too, not just the fresh seasonal food!!

Jenny @ Simply August 26, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Change is always nice and refreshing and the new header is a great representation of the bounty you are about to harvest from your garden. I love the changing season idea and can’t wait for the Fall one. Actually, I just can’t wait for Fall in general so I look forward to your header changing because it means it’s Fall! And sweater weather! Love sweater weather!

My header is just a picture of me (and my son) that I felt best captured how I am feeling right now – happy and content!

Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel August 26, 2011 at 6:28 pm

i am not very knowledgeable with website design or any of that but i was so happy that i managed to create my snacking squirrel header all by myself…it took a few days to finalize the right font i wanted but i love it so much, it always proves to me that my creativity is better than i think :)

xoxo <3

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Your header is beautiful :)

Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel August 27, 2011 at 12:03 am

thank you Angela <3

Heidi Nicole August 26, 2011 at 6:39 pm

Love the new header – definitely fresh and clean.

I just spent hours upon hours working on different variations of my header. I like doing it myself – gives me a sense of accomplishment…but then there is no one to blame when it isn’t just so!

What program did you use to create the new header?

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 7:33 pm

Photoshop :)

Sara August 26, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I LOVE the new header! It’s perfect for OSG :)

I would love to make a fancy header for my blog but I’m pretty limited technologically and if it’s not broke, I probably shouldn’t try to fix it. I did manage to stick up a rainbow up there on all my pages so that’ll do for now :)

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin August 26, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Eek this post made me realize that my blog is totally lacking a header. How boring!!! I guess I should change that soon…

I LOVE your new header. But I guess it won’t be around for long since fall is so soon. I can’t wait to see what that one looks like!

[email protected] August 26, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I love the new header! It looks so clean and crisp. I also love the side pony tail….so bad ass :)

'Dee @ 'Dee's Garret August 26, 2011 at 7:02 pm

I always enjoy your photography and I love the idea of changing the blog header seasonally! My favorite restaurants change their menus to the seasons and what fresh food is available at that time, so why not one of my favorite blogs? :-)

As for my header, for years I just used the Blogger basic. I only recently added a header at all and I have zero idea if it says anything about my blog one way or another. I did it for two reasons — 1) because I was bored to tears with Blogger basic, an 2) because my friend complained that “You never post your picture on the blog!” It’s true, I don’t very often, as I hate the way I look in pictures. So I gathered up a few that I don’t abhor and turned them into a header and said “now stop complaining”.

I’m a real treat as a friend, aren’t I? :-)

Amanda August 26, 2011 at 7:26 pm

I love the new header! It’s so colorful and simple. I hired someone to make my header and she did an incredible shop for very little money. She was really quick and made all the changed I wanted to make sure that it was perfect. I had a hard time coming up with a layout for my header because my blog topic was shifting to two big life changes – culinary school and planning a wedding…after going to a blogging conference, I learned that my dog, Reddick, was a big start of the blog, too! Everyone was asking about him. So, he got added to the header, too…let me know what you think – P.S. – the chocolate runner up – amazing! I want chocolate now.

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 26, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Love your header (and blog in general)! So cute having Reddick on there peeking out, heh.

Amanda August 26, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Thanks! It’s funny how many people think I had Reddick actually pose with a chef’s hat on…oh the joys of PhotoShop!

Nicole (Mrs. Muffins) August 26, 2011 at 7:47 pm

I definitely think the look is a refreshing change. I recently changed my header too. I used to have a lot more going on, got bored of that and went for the really simple, clean look. But then it was *too* clean and when you opened my blog, you had no idea what it was about! So I like the food, I like the idea of the seasonal change, and as cheesy as the glowing words might be, I think this is the only case it works. Good work! xx

Kate August 26, 2011 at 8:24 pm

I love the idea of seasonal produce!! :) my blog header is…i dunno, I use blogspot still and am not very technology-adept, so its’ nothing special. I wish I could figure out how to get pictures up there though!

sara August 26, 2011 at 8:27 pm

I really like your new header. I think changing it up from time to time is a good thing! My very first header was super plain. The one I have now was done by my husband. Its not super fancy but it shows a lot of my favorite things. I kind of love it. :)

Amy @ The Whole Sweet Scoop August 26, 2011 at 8:51 pm

I did my header in photoshop too. Well, that’s not completely true (horrible liar), my friend helped because it’s not a program that I’m used too. And by help I really mean that I supplied the pictures and he did the whole thing haha! I meant to watch him so I could learn but his girlfriend had a big container of fudge. Haha I’m not even kidding, that’s so sad. I’m going to go hang my head in shame now. I love the new header though, it’s very appropriate! That onion is perfection!

Clare @ Fitting It All In August 26, 2011 at 9:34 pm

Love the new header.
Mine has no pictures…now I’m thinking that needs to change….

Carissa @ Choice Sustenance August 26, 2011 at 9:43 pm

My hubby is a whiz at photoshop and he designed mine. I think the background is good at showing what my site is about, plus its colorful and seasonal!

Emily @ Comfortable Home Life August 26, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Love the new header girlie! I LOL’d at the toffee bar dipped in the green monster — I can only imagine what that would look like! I’m sure you’d find some way to make it look appealing though. :)

I think a great blog header consists of exactly what you cited — could someone look at the header and tell what the blog is about? I designed my own header, it’s just a picture of some gnocchi I made. Yum!

Melissa August 26, 2011 at 10:18 pm

I just changed my header too, as in yesterday!! I love the idea of changing your header seasonally, what a great idea. Looking forward to the new pictures, yay fall!!! My favorite season!! Can you make some vegan candy corn-ish desert, that would be uh-mazing!

Sarah August 26, 2011 at 10:45 pm

I absolutely adore the new header! The old picture of you was super cute, but I couldn’t tell what was in the background. It was always one of those Big Mysteries.

I don’t have a custom header for my blog… just yet. I used a pre-made design. But! I have this idea where I’ll use one of those little pill boxes with the days of the week, with sequins spilling out of the Saturday compartment. Which only makes sense if you have the link:

This will also speak to how I believe sequins are addictive… and an excellent cure for most of what ails us. Call it sparkle therapy. ;)

tasha August 27, 2011 at 6:03 am

I love that idea with the sequins spilling out of Saturday! p.s. you and I have the same blog design :) The middle part- but different sides. If that makes sense. I don’t know what I’m doing in Blogger yet, either ; )

shaylyn @ temporal things August 26, 2011 at 10:46 pm

your new header is gorgeous!

i designed my own. i’ve had the same basic theme for a while i guess, but i switch up the four photos occasionally. it’s not a perfect representation of my blog (i do sometimes write about things other than food), but it’ll do.

Noelle August 26, 2011 at 10:57 pm

Someday when I am making more off my side “hobby” I will pay someone to do something fancy but in the meantime I try to do my best working on my own. What do you think?

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 27, 2011 at 6:35 am

I love that nice close up of the tart! You have a great colour scheme going on throughout your blog. I like how the colours you chose carry through.

Noelle August 27, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Thanks! :D

Kathy August 27, 2011 at 12:03 am

Haha! “Eat Chocolate”
For my header, I actually made it myself (even though it is very newbie-ish). I wish my header was bigger though >.< That's one thing I would like to change about my blog!!

Wei-Wei August 27, 2011 at 3:57 am

To be really honest with you, I loved your old header, I thought that the blue highlights in your colour scheme was really beautiful and your profile is lovely! I also really loved the font in your old header and I think that this one looks a little plain, to be honest…..

You know how you style photoshoots with other things in the background and had photos with more of a story in them? I think that your new header doesn’t tell so much of a story. Maybe you should have a photo of you harvesting your veggies :D

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 27, 2011 at 6:36 am

That’s a great analogy and I know exactly what you mean. I guess I’ve always felt like my header was ‘busy’ looking so I went for simple elegance in this one.
I’ll take your suggestions into account for my next one perhaps :) I guess it depends whether the text will look good over top.

Samantha August 28, 2011 at 7:58 am

I have nothing to add here, I completely agree!

Casey August 27, 2011 at 5:48 am

Pretty header! Love the idea of changing it up!
My current blog header was done by a designer and I really like it. I am sure it could be even better though but all in good time. It says what I stand for and my logo. I actually really like pics in headers as you get to instantly get a feel for the person behind the blog. I’m extremely visual though.
My blog is if you want to check it out.
Great topic!

Morgan August 27, 2011 at 6:09 am

Change is good! I like the idea of rotating out your header image. I’m looking forward to some fall food photos!

We must have been drinking the same (green) juice, because earlier this week I looked at my own blog and went, this is so not me right now! I only started blogging earlier this year, and never got around to sprucing it up at all. So I did it! And I actually just updated my blog about this.

I learned most of this stuff just messing around this week, but I made headers and sidebars and all sorts of stuff! I’m sure I’ll get bored with it soon, but I love it right now! Check it out and let me know what you think.

Sabine August 27, 2011 at 6:52 am

Hi Angela,

your new header looks great and I really like the idea to change it seasonally,
but I have to admit I was a little bit sad when I uploaded your page and the old header was gone.
I LOVED the old header.
I am reading your blog now for a while (I LOVE your blog, too :) ) and I always thought your header represented the blog very well.
You are a beautiful woman and in this one picture I really saw your glow. Just like your blog’s name says.
I remember the first time I uploaded your blog and your header caught my immediate attention. It captured me at first sight, so to say. It was like: Oh, she’s stunning and I want to “glow” like her!
I hope it doesn’t sound cheesy, but I always looked forward to read your blog every day AND to see that picture. As I said, it always inspired me to get my own glow :).

(Please excuse the mistakes I made; I am not a native speaker.)

Angela (Oh She Glows) August 27, 2011 at 8:05 am

Thank you Sabine!

Hannah (Balancing on Two Feet) August 27, 2011 at 6:58 am

Awesome new header! I think a great header is something crisp, fresh, and easy to get the point across without much thought. I also find they are dynamic over time and keeping in updated is essential!

Nicole August 27, 2011 at 7:30 am

The new header photo is very vibrant & fresh. But I will miss that stunning photo of you that was your previous banner. I didn’t think it was creepy, just for the record!

vv August 27, 2011 at 7:49 am

Love the new header!! :)

Jennifer Drummond August 27, 2011 at 8:06 am

This header is nice, but honesty I like your previous one. When you saw the one with the picture of you, you thought who is this girl? What’s she all about? Why does she glow? I was curious and so I read your story and checked out your site. The header with the veggies is nice to but it is so common, but the one with you in the header is not common, since there is only one of you.

Mel August 27, 2011 at 8:07 am

I love how fresh your new blogger head is, colourful and simple – I deteste fuss on blogs and website I love clean cut lines, simplicity and minamilist

bobbi August 27, 2011 at 11:10 am

Angela!!! i love the new header. Hubby and I have been working on mine for a while now and I can’t wait for change to, I hear ya on that!

char @ char on a mission August 27, 2011 at 12:31 pm

I want to create me own blog header (mine is my own creation right now), but for my next one, I’d love to improve my photoshop skills! I took one photoshop course in my first year at uni, but all that info is out the window (ie: my brain!), so I need to start fresh. I couldn’t see myself paying someone else to make a header, especially if I just take the time and proper steps to try myself!!!

I love your header ideas!! Can’t wait to see some of them in the future!

Anne Hamilton August 27, 2011 at 3:43 pm

It’s funny. My husband took the picture of my blog header after a day of wine tasting in Napa. The picture was at Alpha Omega and I was feeling “tipsy”, and did what anyone who might be feeling tipsy do, cartwheels.
When I decided to start a blog about my journey to greener pastures after being diagnosed with breast cancer, at 30 years old, 8 months preggers with my third son, I came across the picture and thought it would be perfect! I am happy with it, but my blog is fairly new and I know I will be looking for a change in the future.
*Angela, I love your blog and read it daily. Your recipes, photos, and stories are a soure of inspiration. Keep doin’ what your doin’ girl!

Maria Makes Muffins August 27, 2011 at 4:19 pm

My husband is an art director and designed my blog for me, along with doing a lot of the wordpress customization. I am so lucky!

I like clean and simple headers that let you know instantly what the blog is about without being cluttered or looking photoshopped together. I personally really like your new header.

Marianne August 27, 2011 at 4:24 pm

I’m all for simple headers without a lot going on. Any pictures should just enhance the text, and the text needs to be easy to read. Your new header looks great.

I’ve never had anyone create a header for me, because I’m cheap and don’t know what I want. I actually don’t have one on my page right now, and I’m torn on weather it’s worth putting one up, or not. I feel like my front page is already very photo heavy, so adding another photo header might be too much. You can check it out here:

Kristen - Anywhere There's An Airport August 27, 2011 at 5:38 pm

Without text I think my header says exactly what my site is all about! I have thought “if I update this one day – what will I do?” I have no idea! :) For now, it stays!

Love your new looks! It depicts this site perfectly.

First of all, I love your new header and the idea of changing seasonally. I’m all about cleaning out, organizing, and eliminating clutter too! After all, we need to make room in our lives for new and exciting things, right?

I love my header, it’s one of my favorite photos (that I actually took) but sometimes I get a little bored of it. Then again, I clearly look at it more than everyone else. It’s not completely representative of my blog either, but I think it’s such a good shot. I probably wouldn’t get bored of it if the featured image function on Wordpress would work consistently! Does anyone else have that problem??

All for feedback!

The ‘Orange Tree (Portakal Agaci –’ was the first Turkish food blog that I have started following before OSG. One of the reason was its lovely headers which changed every season. The blogger Hatice had made her headers to Penelope Dullaghan, a great artist. Check out her illustrations, it might give you some ideas:

I think your new header is missing you! I like the colour scheme and font types, but it simply doesn’t mention about you even a tiny bit. Because your blog, apart from your lovely recipes, is based on your story/life and positivism that you bring on the blog which makes it unique among all others. It’s not only cooking but perhaps learning life through cooking and healthy living. At least this is what makes me feel about OSG..x

i love the new header.

i was thinking about seasonally changing mine, as well… since my last one (up until last week) was a wine bottle and a CHRISTMAS TREE… in august. honestly, i’m not worried about that. i hung christmas lights in college and left them up all year lond.

I absolutely love checking out the headers on blogs! It’s like meeting someone for the first time – it gives you a good or bad first impression, however, with blog headers I’d say a good or great first impression! I have yet to come across a header that is not creative. Even the simple one’s leave somthing to the imagination.

I would love to have a great header for my blog (, not that I have to have one because I love it just the same, however, I would like to spice it up with my own creativity and give people a good first impression :) Alas, I am not technology savvy and I cannot afford to splurge on a header. Eventually I plan to get put a snazzy header on the old girl (blog) though :)

I love all of your creative buttons and headers! And I would have to agree that a toffee bar and a green smoothie look great separately…not so appealing dunked together I’m sure – good choice ;)

I’m the same way! Seasons change and it’s purge time! Spring cleaning doesn’t happen once a year over in these parts ;)

I love your new blog header! Super summery and cute! Can’t wait to see Fall’s!

I changed my blog header once and it was a nightmare! I couldn’t get it to fit right and it took hours and hours of trying everything to get it right. Now that I have it, I don’t think I want to change it again – I am too scared!

I love your new header :-)

I haven’t seen the new header until today!! I know, it’s my fault!!
I think your idea about the seasonal headers is really great, and the actual photo is really cute, and so natural and fresh!!
It invites to stay here. Don’t missinterpret me, your photo was great, you’re cute, but this so fresh vegetables are perfect for a (healthy) food blog! They say, “Here you’ll find healthy, but really delicious recipes!”.

I sort of liked the old banner on your blog since your “glow” is obvious and inspires me to improve my eating! :-)
